I guess to further distill my point:
Admitting that this country actually has a problem with race and sexism, should be an easy step fucking one. Step 2, should be figuring out how to actually maneuver through it, but nobody actually wants to do step 1.

Yeah, step 1 would be actually fucking voting....
Young people can't be bothered to do any of that.
(And I should note, I hardly voted in my younger years, either. I'm fully casting the blame upon myself, though since I was conservative most of those years, I would have hated my hypothetical voting choices in hindsight, much as I regret the votes I actually cast.)
By Pac-12 Go To PostIt's all shit.last I checked it was you olds that voted the bastard in
Thanks, fucking dumbass millennials.

We r so Fucked
Honestly? Shut the fuck up blaming millennials. They haven't been around to allow half the shit that restricts the entire process and keeps it on a weekday. We can thank older assholes for all that.
By curlyfries Go To Postlast I checked it was you olds that voted the bastard in
"Olds" voted and got what they wanted. (Technically, popular vote said...)
Young people did not vote. Old people got what they wanted. (...something something electoral college...)
Olds got no legs to stand on. Absolutely SHIT all. Given that even the "liberal" ones have tanked the fuck out of education and funding for anything short of their own retirement. I'm not having it.
By Random Ass Username Go To PostHonestly? Shut the fuck up blaming millennials. They haven't been around to allow half the shit that restricts the entire process and keeps it on a weekday. We can thank older assholes for all that.
Fuck that. Not satisfied? Fucking vote! Shit. Ain't a damn thing going to change if you don't engage. Complaining from the sideline about people not talking to you, when you're not fucking talking to them by voting, isn't doing a damn thing. Why should they talk to you? You have given no indication that the investment will be worth it. Meanwhile, there's groups that actually. will. vote.
That said, it's hardly new that young people don't vote. It's been the case for decades, and I've already cast myself in with that ignorant non-voting lot when I was in that demographic. But. If you (not you, RAU, but the general you) saw this election and saw Donald Trump and the modern GOP and said, "nah, I'm good, not voting," then fuck you.
I just don't want to hear any sanctimonious blubbering about the fucking millennials when this is a bunch of shit come home to roost because of Reagan and the shit that followed. Blaming millennials that were in utero or not even able to vote for the degradation of the process and the general rightward trajectory of the nation is horseshit. Gen X and older need to own their fucking shit for once.
Have to wonder what Breyer (79) and "Notorious RBG" (85) were thinking not retiring in the Obama era.
To be clear, Iβm not casting blame on any subset on the left, but the SCOTUS was a real reason to show up in 2016 and now weβre seeing why. These recent decisions are awful and whoever replaces Kennedy will be worse. God save us if RBG leaves us

You think you are immune from this shit or something? Last I checked, Gen Xers and older aren't the only ones impacted by this. Matter of fucking fact, they seem to be the ones impacted less by any of this. Millennials and younger have to live with this for perhaps generations. So yeah, y'all showed us! Nice work! We'll all be dead while you're still dealing with the consequences!
Young people could have engaged and help stop the GOP in 2010. Didn't.
Could have stopped them in 2012. Didn't.
2014? Nope.
2016? Fuck no.
2018? By the sounds of it? Still won't vote.
At some point, y'all actually do own a good portion of this.
Millennials have to hold that L too. This is the older generations fault, but all of us were warned about this very thing happening. We weighed the cost and determined that it didn't matter.
By Punished Go To PostHave to wonder what Breyer (79) and "Notorious RBG" (85) were thinking not retiring in the Obama era.
Would have had to retire prior to the 2014 midterms, as McConnell certainly displayed by blocking Garland. No way the GOP senate would have confirmed even in 2015. (Or, no reason to believe they would have.) I don't think any judge really entertained that notion that far back, though.
Showed you what?
This shit doesn't end with 2016 and Trump.
I love this bullshit blaming the millennials for the state of the nation when the bulk of them couldn't even vote till Obama. Just what in fucks are you going on about anyway.

Shit, by the time young people age up and start voting, they'll be conservative.
And their kids will blame them (while not voting).
And their kids will blame them (while not voting).
i really can't even get mad when younger generations are boxed in around issues that are centric to them and not the country as a whole though

I don't get what you're not getting. Young people are historically more progressive than older. Young people historically do not vote. So when the country lurches (or stays) to the right, it is, in fact, largely because young people do not engage in the process. Yes, the older people voting conservative are also a huge fucking problem! Shit! I'm not absolving them of it. But I am saying that old people would not wield so much power, and could not have won *any* of this past several elections, if young people actually voted. So yes, fuck millennials for not voting, fuck old people *for* voting, and triple fuck White Evangelical Christians for being the stupidest segment of the electorate by far.
People sat around mystified about that guy who ran solely on Rent being too damn high. Yeah he was totally popular because of only memes and shit, there was no truth to it at all.

In a good country that isn't bad old people wouldn't be allowed to vote. They would all be incinerated at the age of 60 and have their assets redistributed for the good of the motherland.

but seriously we do have a real problem of "muh property rights and values" basically dictating everything here
Blame young people all you want, it won't accomplish shit. You aren't going to motivate anyone to vote by beating them over the head with "you're the reason we have Trump!" It's what Democrats do every time they fail and they still keep on failing.
What you could do is run on a platform that young people, and minorities, and the rest of the base are actually excited about and want to turn out for. But then you might lost that mythical moderate Republican.

By domino Go To Postthis is absolutely not millennials fault.
No share of the blame at all? Move the knob on voter turnout among this group, and certainly the results of 2016 are different. And 2014... 2012... 2010. Move the knobs on the voter turnout on the young generations of the time in past elections, and those results similarly change.
Again, not absolving the older people that *did* vote for the voting choices they made. *But* young people, past and present, could largely offset that, and that changes the country for the better. And yes, it was all just as fucking true in 1950 and 1980. This isn't new.
And believe me, as my immediately prior post indicates, and as I've said here before, most of my ire is actually at "salt of the earth, light of the world" Christians for being so goddamn manipulated by the GOP. Fuck. Think, you bastards.
