Voting is pointless in America. It's all about supporting the right corporations since they're the ones that actually run the country anyway. Look at that Californian Democrat who made Ajit Pai look good because he had to appease AT&T.
It's pointless if you live in Mississippi and only want to vote dem for presidential elections... stuff like that.
No excuse to not know who your fucking major is though. People believing that voting is non essential at the local levels complaining about national issues are a huge part of the problem.

Also local elections is how a bunch of Koch bullshit works. Just stacking school boards and the like with their goons.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An automotive trade group said on Tuesday it would tell the Trump administration that a U.S. threat to impose a tariff of up to 25 percent on imported passenger vehicles under national security grounds would cost American consumers $45 billion annually, or $5,800 per vehicle.
The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a group representing General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, and other major automakers, will file written comments with the U.S. Commerce Department later this week, spokeswoman Gloria Bergquist said.

Bye, Pelosi. Enjoy capitalism on your way out.
Pelosi ain't been shit for some time. I've been saying. But what do I know, only called out Kaine as a shitbird too.
Dems are basically that parent you see at the store who let their kid run around, destroy everything, make a shit ton of work for the staff and all they're doing is meekly saying "please don't do that."
I love how doughy, mentally deficient white women are like the standard bearers of American racism. It's fitting.
we still don't know to what extent hillaryism was overrated
was it just a pendulum swing, her centrist politics, her hillaryism, or a combination of all that?
it's an important question to answer in regards to 2020

54% of white women in America didn't want a white woman. They knew how bad they themselves could be #PermitPatty
Oh shit. Ben won!
The exact same economic anxiety as the men.

People will blame Comey, populism, stupid people, etc - fact is it never should've been anywhere close.
For me, it was not a lot of feeling like she would make America better. I voted for her because it was better than Trump, but was not enthused about it at all. Felt like it would be more of the same, which wasn't exactly a good thing. A lot of half-measures.
What's left to discuss? This country is more conservative than it lets on, white women have been the gatekeepers of white male fuckery and they showed out, and people disliked Hillary for a multitude of reasons (from valid ones to Republican media guided bullshit). In my eyes, it couldn't get any clearer. Like, what elephant?
its a lot of blaming instead of what to do better
like RAU said, yeah its really easy to blame a group for voting/not voting a certain way but Tim fucking Kaine? for real? lol just that alone kept a lot of voters at home on some "fuck it, let the world burn then" shit.

You can absolutely, 100% do both. Acknowledging that they used the world's worst playbook is as important as recognizing the collective mindshare of the people that they used it on. Doing only one or the other is as lazy as everything else ya'll say is.
i don't think you can just call people dumb or stupid or hateful because they actually did rely on those voters before too

Not hard to understand. Do centrist politics held up by a meh candidate result in a narrow L to Trump? With the expectation that the same politics delivered by a more exciting results in a W?
Basically, it's a question of how far left we should go in 2020.
She was too much of a politician and not much a cult of personality. That's whom people vote for. It's why Al Gore lost -- the parallels are all there.

Using your example, why would a "safe" choice be an option or even exist, if not to placate and or court a certain group of people?

So basically, Biden should beat Trump no problem then?
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostSo basically, Biden should beat Trump no problem then?Oh, he would have. It's just that he's worse than Hillary so the irony of it all is amazing.
I always knew Trump would win because of a statistic from my American politics course in 08. The average presidential candidate has something like 10 seconds devoted to what they say daily(much shorter than in the UK). Trump always had something that was soundbite worthy(rightly or wrongly), but everyone else was just pathetic. And then Hillary came along and said nothing of note. It was always gonna end one way. Those ten seconds are all that most of the electorate are gonna listen to daily. It is huge.
Trump will most likely win again because we are a few years out from a general election and the Dems have nobody who inspires confidence and can combat Trump in the soundbite worthiness field.

By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostUsing your example, why would a "safe" choice be an option or even exist, if not to placate a certain group of people?Even if you go safe, you have to remain cognizant of what 'safe' actually is. Pandering and tap dancing for people while hoping everyone keeps a short term memory like she did was basically running on a platform of hubris. There was enough wild contradictory stances right up front to put people off without too much thought at all.
"I'll help the little guy" what about them banks tho
"i'll set the record straight in foreign policy" u wot
"no more glass ceilings" why is tim kaine here
"black lives matter" tough on crime
"don't talk to me about housing" well shit
"jobs" .....okay and? please tell us more
"donald is a cretin" under scrutiny for haiti, the uranium shit, the wiretap stuff, #benghazi, the dnc shit, and those damn emails cmon lol
that's not safe by any stretch. the challenge going forward is not just understanding people's tolerances again (because the left is still way off on that) but grasping where the margins have shifted to. obviously centrist is becoming more right by default, but the best way to run things back to the left is find a popular leftist stance that isn't relying wholly on being a counterpoint to the lowest hanging fruit offered by the republicans any given week.
By reilo Go To PostOh, he would have. It's just that he's worse than Hillary so the irony of it all is amazing.biden's shit is all from decades ago. he's a dick, but you'd actually have to do some general research - not just show up or turn the tv on.

I'm not separating Hillary from the whole of the election. It's all cause and effect. You're giving me the playbook again. I already get why it failed. I'm saying that this seemingly handwaving bullshit of the people that all of this marketing is being used on, is only going to lead us back to this point, again. I'm saying that certain choices (bad as they were) were made, in response to Trump's brand of politics. You actually want people to get involved, yes? So, how long are we supposed to keep pretending that a large enough part of this country will forever do this shit? It feels like we're in year 30 of this presidency, and people are still happy with this guy.
Again, I don't disagree with your other thoughts. We shouldn't have gotten to this point. We did though. I can go Google a shit ton of social science and political articles pointing to everything I said as being as relevant to to this country's free fall as the Democrats inability to not be Republican lite.
These misguided and arrogant ass decisions don't just manifest out of thin air. It's marketing and everything has a target market. Trump found his and made it work. This type of shit isn't even U.S. centric.
