You’ll all note that I included myself in the old man club and therefore agree that all touch interfaces are jarring lol
I don't think they'll go away because everyone is going semi-autonomous if not fully autonomous so this idea that you have to take your hands off the wheel isn't even a consideration.

This is probably true. When can Alexa be implemented in an auto interface?
“Alexa, turn the air on”
“Alexa, play Led Zepllin.”
“Alexa, dim the lights to 20%”
It’s a purely aesthetical thing for me. Similar to the lack of a grill on the newer Tesla cars. I’m used to the visual dash and interface I’ve always had.

I like physical feedback regardless of if the underlying tech is digital. Volume knobs, for example. I would also like if volume knobs stopped turning left once you hit zero and vice versa.
Hey, a fully electric SUV was revealed today. And it's the first ever gorgeous EV inside and out. Guess who made it?
Jaguar.

Look, a high end interior not riddled with cheap plastics and gaps.
And a pretty normal looking rear end without frumpy lines.

If I can lease this at $800 a month, I will. Without question. Having no fuel costs will largely negate any payment premium over leasing another XF or F-Pace.

You have to consider the costs of adding a 220V (or is it 208??) outlet somewhere in your garage as well. It's actually really easy work, but electricians charge an arm and a leg because people can get hurt with electricity. Let me know if you want some advice on a DIY, or if you're just going to contract it out.
By reilo Go To PostAny MSRP revealed?
63.5K British.
I'd imagine about $70K in the US before rebates and all. Should be worthwhile, imo.
The Model X P75 starts at $80K and is uglier inside and out. And slower. :p

Materials and a pack of beer for labor lol
Thanks for the encouragement, folks. I will definitely begin posting some pictures and more information once ground is broken. As a way of giving a little bit of background, my wife and I have been in this house since the year 2000. We started with 4 rooms and a tiny bathroom in a fairly run-down mill/farm house that was given to us by my wife's grandmother when she passed away. In 2006 we took out a mortgage that doubled the square footage, added a second bathroom and master bedroom, central heating and air and (my favorite) cable internet.
The mortgage will be paid off in April or May (I forget) and we've been saving for the garage for a couple of years now. Coming off of such a big loan (well, big for us) and finally getting that paid off we didn't want to immediately take out another home improvement or personal loan so saving up first was the way we decided to go. It's taken our preferred contractors about 5 months to have room in their busy schedules but they will be worth the wait as they are friends and have done excellent work for both us and my wife's parents in the past. Needless to say, we can't wait to get started.

What a fantastic day for carspotting during lunch... I just wish I wasn't driving and could take pics lol.
A 1st gen Audi R8 was parked at my usual lot. At the Costco gas station, a lady pulled up in a Rolls Royce Phantom... though I don't think it was hers coz she pulled to the wrong side of the gas(door was on the right, pump was on the left) lol. On the way to Panda Express there was an AMG GT driving the opposite direction then a 1st gen Golf R32 blows past me. Then on the way back to my office a 458 and Huracan were doing shenanigans before a Focus RS whizzes by as I turn in to our parking lot.
How all that showed up in less than 40 minutes is amazing. I'm guessing that was a sign that I need to be at Cars and Coffee this Saturday lol.

Oh, I forgot to mention I saw Lotus Elise with a body kit last weekend. I have no idea what year or anything else. My friends I was celebrating a birthday with had to tell me what it was. lol
Since at work Im sitting next to a window overlooking an important junction (and a MB retailer lol), its cool to look at cars from a different perspective. Saw the 2004 Quattroporte today. Flaws aside, the presence, proportions and looks still breathe an amount of grace that usually isnt present on other cars. The way a VW Scirocco hugs the ground looks suprisingly agressive. The black panoramic roof on a white AMG GT looks way weird and off.
I love how the small manufacturers are receiving this influx of cash and keeping the innovative dreams of our favorite car companies from the past alive. This thing with a blacked out grill is going to be gorgeous.
Is Jaguar the new BMW and Volvo the new Audi?
My mom had an S60 T5 and I was given a S60R Polestar to borrow by the dealership, and it was such an amazing car, despite it being an FWD based platform. The AWD was super grippy, and the chassis was INCREDIBLE. The only bad thing about the last gen S60 was the transmission wasn't super great as the ZF 8ATs started to hit their strides, but it was sufficient enough to not ruin the car.
I'm looking forward to what Volvo will do with this S60. That 400HP drivetrain would be amazing in it.
BTW: Been whipping an Infiniti QX30 for 2 days (just returned it an hour ago). Ask me anything, I guess? LOL.
Dealer found nothing wrong with my XKR and it hasn't been hiccuping since, no DTCs, and no misfires anywhere.

Did you have a fill-up since you starting noticing issues in the XKR? Maybe you had a bad tank of gas.
That's what Tavarish said when I pulled up to his house. But no, the fillup wasn't that recent. Maybe 4-5 days on that tank before the hiccups.
QX30 = Nissan Murano with a different drivetrain, right? How was it? I have no experience with Infiniti's new turbo platforms but I was most definitely a fan of their older N/A engines and transmissions.
The QX30 is an MB GLA rebadged as an Infiniti.
Not sure how close it is to the Murano but you can definitely tell the QX30 is an MB product the moment you sit in it. The A/C, seat, and steering wheel controls are a dead giveaway to anybody who's spent at least an hour with a previous MB product.

I keep forgetting my password for this thing. The Camry XSE v6 is a nice car, too bad about the price.

Yeah, it's the GLA250, with a prettier exterior and interior.
But it's fairly rough around the edges, and the DCT is not very good.
I hosted my first ever Cars & Coffee yesterday. And Tavarish tried his hand at jumping into a friend's GT40 (this is a 99% replica using all OEM hardware, the actual car has LHD with a slightly different rear subframe).
The I-Pace looks gorgeous. Better than its concept. Jaguar continue being on point with their styling.
The Rimac C Two will have 1408kW (1914bhp) and do 0-60 in 1,85 seconds... 1,696 lb-ft of torque!
Goddamn.
Goddamn.

70K. I was bang on the money.
I'm like the automotive Woj.
Also, Supra was just as meh as expected. Take away the body kit and shit, and it's just boring. The front end is really, really bland.
Then again, the front of the MKIV was nothing great, either. But Toyota DID actually acknowledge they've developed the motor to be tuner friendly. So that's actually REALLY cool.

Truth be told, it's really easy to guess UK to US prices. Most outlets are stupid enough to just straight convert the British price to USD. I look at the actual market and how the brand prices their US cars compared to their European cars. If you look at the British prices for the E-Pace, F-Pace and XE they're incredibly cheap at starting points.
70K for the I-Pace is a little pricey compared to the GLC43 and X3 M40i. Probably justifiable if it comes loaded with those being 65K or so reasonably optioned.

That's before incentives and rebates. It's cheaper than the Model X.
Not really, no. But as far as I’m concerned they need to be price competitive with their gas counterparts if possible. The Model X is quite a bit larger and is a 3 row unit. So it’s competitive but not.
That's just not feasible for another decade. There's a reason the big manufacturers waited a full decade before they decided to go at Tesla or even implement a hybrid system in their halo cars.

By Pine Go To PostThe shame with these announcements is they're all "XXX revelase their Tesla competitor" The general status quo is very much skewed in Elons favor. For now, yes. In the USA we basically have no main stream competitors to Tesla as far as an all electric premium sedan or SUV. Once the I-Pace and the Mission E arrive Tesla will actually have some real competition for once and I can see a lot of customers wanting those cars over the Tesla. Basically, I think there is a lot of pent up demand for some great electric vehicles that aren't made by Tesla. I could be wrong on that but I don't think I am and the next 3 years or so will tell the tale.

Well, Tesla jumping on this early is some crazy like a fox stuff. Economies of scale are a real issue here. Thing is, once everyone whips it out and goes straight after them that could well change. Young company, tons of teething issues, but god bless ‘em, somebody has to have the sack to go first.
I'm a little disappointed not to see the Macan facelift at Geneva. It's been hinted at for a while and there are certainly enough spyshots out there in the wild. Seeing as the Macan GTS is one of the top vehicles on my list the timing of the facelift (and the availability of the facelifted GTS) is going to be fairly relevant to my interests.
The word is that the Porsche developed 3.0 twin turbo V6 is going to be dropped for the Audi 2.9 single turbo V6 and I can't say I am too happy about that, either, unless Porsche sprinkles some secret sauce on it. The 3.0 likes to rev and has been pretty trouble free although it is a thirsty motor.

If you are talking about the 2.9 biturbo engine that the new RS5 is using, that was co-developed with Porsche.
