he's gonna a whole different batch of FA's to compete with next year. 4/85 is real close to what's gonna get regardless
By pilonv1 Go To PostIs he going to get more than $80/4yrs though? Maybe some bad team like the Nets could offer him more but with about half the league being FA's there's going to be more competition for those dollarsI mean, DAJ just got $24 from the Mavs. ... For only one year though.
i think 4/85 is a big over pay, and he should take it. Will he get more? dunno. Seems like it's as much about hurt feelings from Capella now though. Seems shit off with that first offer of ... $65M ?
By Pac-12 Go To Post(The tweet says 5/85)Oh right. $17M per is much better for Hou. And its ... the same offer as their 4/65 ($16.25M per).
I see why he turned that down, if he turned down 4/65.
Not saying he should turn it down. But it's basically the same offer.
Yeah, word was he was looking for 4/80, so if they had offered 4/85, you would think he would be on it before they realized their own error.

Exactly it's about his market worth, and if there's a player option in year 3 or something he'd be crazy not to take it now.
By pilonv1 Go To PostExactly it's about his market worth, and if there's a player option in year 3 or something he'd be crazy not to take it now.he wasn't offered 4/85
First offer was 4/48 which was kind of a joke, but the Rox/Capela rightfully treated it as a negotiation.
Turning down 5/85 is dumb, that's Tristan Thompson money and he actually has played in 4 straight finals. You really, really don't want to pay Capela 28 million a year unless you already have the rest of your squad figured out.

wasn't there a rumour about him turning own 4/80 or was that just him wanting the same as LaVine?
Rockets being cheap as usual

There's a wide gulf between 17 and 28. For example, 20. 4/80 is reportedly what he wanted, or at least the starting point.

Word is his asking price starts at 20 per. Rockets came with 17, which is at least better than other reports we've heard (4/48, 4/60).
By Kuma Go To PostHe aint getting now 20per. 2016 was one time thing,

By RATHasReturned Go To PostClint should fire his agent. The same agency as BJ Armstrong (the guy who repped Motiejunas and subsequently is no longer in the league).
Clint should try to get his, but taking the QO means he'll need to get more than 4/85 next season to get better than what Houston's currently offering.
How have these players not learned from history? When your stance is basically max me or QO, it’s always the latter
Guys just need to learn that if they were really worth a max, a team other than their own would have offered one. If your organization is the only one offering you close to $20 million, take the bag and run.
By chandlerparsons Go To PostThe same agency as BJ Armstrong (the guy who repped Motiejunas and subsequently is no longer in the league).well Clint's agents are not BJ and got Robin Lopez paid for boxing out... and his twin brother paid despite being made of sand...they rep Adams and B. Knight too...and quite a few other bigs paid for being tall... Not saying it going to work out for him but at least his team is strong

The market's limited this year, but I don't think it'll be 2016 again next year. When the chasm was rumoured to be the difference between 12 and 20 mil, there was somewhere to meet in the middle. 18 and 25, though?
The difference between Capela & Nerlens is that Nerlens lost out on all that money because he’s done nothing but look like he doesn’t belong in the league. The only thing he ever did to earn that offer was get drafted high.
nerlens showed he could play pretty damn well. its just that the off the court stuff was... real bad

Maybe if you're unrestricted. For RFAs, that's not the case, particularly if there's an expectation that the current team will eventually match anyway. The key word is "eventually," and your ability to offer other free agents is tied up in the interim.
By DY_nasty Go To Postnerlens showed he could play pretty damn well.
>_>
Do I have to go back and pull quotes from that 3 Man Break episode where you guys sat around torching him?
Nerlens didn't do that great in Dallas. He was prime to be the number 1 center, but couldn't just play disciplined and gambled all the time.
At some point the off court stuff probably just outweighs any talent he has. Really seems like he has crappy work ethic as well.

Bit different when your organization is capped and you can't get someone even close to his level. It's either you pay him or you start a scrub. But waste your MVPs prime by being cheap, i don't mind.
Some dumb team will probably Max Capela next season if given the chance, his agent is trying to force Houston to be that dumb team right now.
Rox offer is more than fair given the situation but the possibility of Houston losing him for nothing and being capped out isn't lost on Capela's reps.
We'll see who blinks first, I mean they did give CP3 a guaranteed 4 year max.

TT did the same to the cavs and they caved in the end. Rockets will come around the end. If not their window is closed after next year and that's still against a prime GSW.

but he was legit in philly before philly philly'd him
In looking at his numbers, in his first season he put up an eFG of .462 which is hideous. In his second he season he kinda manages to almost look Ed Davis jr. good. But as I recall the knock on him was that he had zero offensive game and was constantly gambling and out of position on D.
He seems like the worse no-fun version of Bebe.

he's not some offensive talent really. he was improving, but like.... naw. adding him to OKC's defense adjacent steven adams is huge though. he won't have to take that interior punishment and can roam freely
Guys.

Honestly a pretty good trade for Toronto. You can make the finals this year and who knows what happens. And even if it doesn't work out and he leaves then you get on the fast track for a rebuild, which you were going to do anyway.
