By s y Go To PostI don't understand, I thought OKC didn't want to pay tax and were looking to buy out Melo? They don't want to buyout Melo also it seems
By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostYou're welcome Gondo, wherever you are. And whomever ends up getting Melo for peanuts after we buy him out.That... would have to be a boatload of picks going back to BKN.
By blackace Go To PostThey don't want to buyout Melo also it seemsLin makes about 1/3 of what Melo does. BKN must be able to send a cap exception back.
Also, last year of Lins deal.
By giririsss Go To PostThat… would have to be a boatload of picks going back to BKN.I wonder if we can get jlin for cheap out of this
The Nets are going to pay like $40 million this offseason for 3 second rounders and a couple of late firsts.
By DY_nasty Go To Postkarma for how he did lin in new yorkCarmelo made Lin run to Houston for the money?

All of which we'll be theoretically bundling with players when we try to build a team around whatever player(s) we pay for next summer.
Tbh, the prospect of paying anything close to a max for Butler and Kyrie's knees terrifies me.

By diehard Go To Postbtw 39% from corner 3 is actually not great, i believe that is average?
all that's needed.
and to bring capela back jfc
By Kibner Go To PostAnthony Davis is a dad:You sure he's not talking about Royce Pulliam' kid?
By s y Go To PostJustise Winslow shoots 39% on corner threes.
On 20 attempts?
By s y Go To PostYou sure he's not talking about Royce Pulliam' kid?Pretty sure, yeah.
By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostOn 20 attempts?bringing up corner 3 % is basically a cheat for making a guy look like a better shooter than he is
OKC got bodied by a rookie and want to #RunItBack sans Melo--why exactly did PG extend again?
Not that Melo was any good, but working towards a bounce back year is better than punting on the project. And if it ends up just being a salary dump and he looks at all good for say, Houston...whew.

okc was one game away from getting swept entirely because of melo tbh
easily the worst player in the playoffs (the spurs dont count)

By giririsss Go To PostFeel like thats the argument for houston, getting bounced the way OKC did in the first … not sure that's their fall back.Houston is coming back with a worse roster, if OKC drops Melo they are coming back with a better one.
By diehard Go To PostHouston is coming back with a worse roster, if OKC drops Melo they are coming back with a better one.Sorry, see how that got misconstrued.
If Houston came back with the exact same squad, time spent together and continuity is a legitimate argument for marginal improvement.
Losing melo may / may not make OKC better. But they still got bounced in the first and haven't added any talent. Continuity doesn't feel like a solid argument for their progression to the second round.
Getting a different matchup, one that is more favorable to Russ is probably a better argument for them getting to the second round.
after game one, melo was a free double digit run for utah just about each time he stepped on the floor
utah was daring him to shoot and scrubs were scoring on him at all. grant/noel/roberson being in the rotation is a drastic improvement overnight

didnt nerlens noel go through this
e: yes
On July 1, the official first day of the NBA's 2017-18 free-agency season, the Mavericks came to Nerlens Noel, a restricted free agent at the time, with a contract offer: a four-year deal worth around $70 million, according to one league source. Five months earlier, they had pried him away from the Sixers, just before the Feb. 23 trade deadline, with the hope that he would blossom into a foundational piece who could form part of their future post-Dirk Nowitzki core.
Except Noel rejected the deal. Then in August, he fired his agent, Happy Walters, and replaced him with Rich Paul, whose playbook is to push for larger deals, and to hold off on signing long-term extensions until the player has the leverage, especially with guys as young as Noel (23).
There were reports at the time that Noel was pushing for a max deal. A league source adamantly told B/R recently, though, that those reports were incorrect and that there was actually no dialogue whatsoever with the Mavericks after the agency change.
Noel wound up signing a one-year, $4.1 million qualifying offer instead.
he's better than nerlens ez, but ijs

It's basically back fired for every single on of them. (taking the QO).
But given the scarcity of cap space this summer, a few SHOULD benefit next year.
By giririsss Go To PostBut given the scarcity of cap space this summer, a few SHOULD benefit next year.
Is he going to get more than $80/4yrs though? Maybe some bad team like the Nets could offer him more but with about half the league being FA's there's going to be more competition for those dollars
