My sister's bed was $5k and has all kind of features and my Casper mattress is much more comfortable.
I'm considering getting a sleep number in a couple years with like a bonus or something. Not so I can sit up or some shit, but my wife is 5'3" and I'm 6'9". I absolutely need a mattress that has more support than she needs. Our current mattress is wonderful for her, but doesn't provide me with enough support and my back hurts daily when I wake up. It's a costco foam mattress. It wasn't as bad 7 years ago, but the older I get he more I notice this shit. I feel like I could sleep on a piece of concrete and be more comfortable than my current set up.

What are you doing posting on slaent.?
NAIA college was as good as I got. Oddly enough being tall can be a bad thing if you're coaches growing up just stick you in the center position. Unless you become REALLY tall. By the time I got to college my coaches were wanting me to be more of a stretch 4 and I"m looking at em' like, "you fuckers scouted me, what made you think I was ever taught how to shoot and drive?"
Literally all I got from way early on was back to the basket and high post pinch basketball.
By s y Go To PostHow does FOAM costs so much?!!!!!!!!!
Costco is reasonable and they have a good return policy.
By reilo Go To PostAlso I didn't realize that Fender's wife is a professional mountain climber.
My dad used to ask why I never dated tall women and I was like "bruh, how man tall attractive women in the world do you think there are?"
Fender real talk
What's it like being that tall and living in a world made for dudes that are 5'10"?

Like, you think the inside of a box mattress is made out of adamantium or something? The fact you paid $500 for it... phew.

If I could sell off say 4" I would and wouldn't even think twice about it.
I really like being tall. I really really do not like being 6'9" tall. Counter tops, showers, beds, etc etc. I have to duck my head under every standard doorway since they're all 6'8". Clothes are tough. Vehicle selection blows. It's harder on one's heart, joints and back.
The one cool thing about being 6'9" tall was when I was single and going to bars. Literally never made the first move. If I thought someone was hot and made eye contact I could go stand by them at the bar later and 100% I would get asked, "how tall are you". Ice was broken and getting to say 6'9" sort of kicked the conversation off in a slightly sexual and flirtatious way.

Correct. I'm surrounded my Latinos and short white people.

By Fenderputty Go To PostCorrect. I'm surrounded my Latinos and short white people.Just call Apollo out by name next time.
By s y Go To PostIm really confused by this Box vs bed thing.A bed is anything you sleep on.
A mattress is a pad that's just part of a bed but on its own it can also be considered a bed.
A box mattress is a wooden constructed box that you can place a mattress on. Certain bed frames don't come with built in lats to put the mattress on, so you need a box frame to place on top of it.
By data Go To Postmy dad built my frameYea, I am. And so are you since you needed to buy a box mattress smh

I would think "Bed" equals the whole thing (box, frame and mattress). Box's are actually referred to as BOX MATTRESSES. Then of course you have your regular mattress on top and a frame that holds the whole thing. Ideally are are quality. Your whole package is only as good as it's lowest common denominator IMO.

Bro, slats exist for a reason

My cousin is 6'6" and he's always bitching about how being tall while dating is great but being tall in everyday life sucks because nothing is made with tall people on mind.
By reilo Go To PostJust call Apollo out by name next time.
Fuck you I'm a white latino that is of average height
Wood slats on a frame aren't that great and a good box mattress has springs.
6'3" - 6'4" is ideal IMO. You're still tall by societal standards, but you're getting closer to the height that the world operates.

Dude ... seriously jealous at just the amount of vehicles you get to drool over. Nothing but a S class AMG or something in that vein works for me.
By s y Go To PostYep. Looks like I'm sleeping on the floor.Look, all you need to do for a box spring is just get a bunch of milk crates to build a surface and then go fish a futon cover or something out of a Goodwill and you'll be gucci.
By reilo Go To PostYep. I can fit into any vehicle that's like… not a Miata.
I can fit into an E Class vehicle to drive, but it's not very comfy. Generally speaking it's the width that start to suck on those mid size vehicles. I have plenty of legroom going forward but the center console and proximity to the door makes me feel squished.
By s y Go To PostYep. Looks like I'm sleeping on the floor.
I have no idea how much you can save in a month. But, if you can save some money each month I would recommend going to costco, buying a mattress on charge and returning the thing within 30 days. (you can return it after, but then you have to pay interest.) Then get another mattress on a different Visa card for another 30 days.
Rince repeat until you have the cash

Costco can afford it. They're return policy is great for a reason. Keeps people coming back and PSY would eventually make the purchase anyway lol

Try the firm first. Complain it's too firm and take it back for the plush. Give yourself 60 days to come up with the cash.
EDIT ... go back and say the plush it too plush and you like the firm better. Get another firm. 90 days to come up with the cash.

By s y Go To PostThanks fendy. Do I need a box, I cant just put the mattress on the floor?
It comes with the mattress base (box), just not the frame. You can place on the floor. A decent frame won't run you too much later down the road if you want to lift it up.
