Do Not Want.
Dwight was once worthy of having the media cover his every move during the Dwightmare years (there was two of those remember? He exercised his player option right at the deadline and we got a whole extra season!). Best player on a team that went to the Finals and ECF in back to back years. Multiple DPoY awards.
And now he's a contract the Hawks have to pay somebody to take off their hands a year after signing it since all he can only really play one end of the floor and they'd suck with him or without him. He's still an effective rebounder and rim protector, but I really can't say I thought this was his trajectory after the Magic lost the Finals.

Dwight isn't a Hall of Famer at this point.

He is, wonder if ORL will retire his jersey?
Wait, how are Dwight & Swaggy P the same age?
Wait, Young is actually older. WTF

Yeah. A series of really poor decision after poor decision have left his career in shambles.

Uh, 8x all star, 5x first team, 3x DPOY?
Yeah he's going to the hall.

I can see him getting bumped.
By Stern Go To PostDwight isn't a Hall of Famer at this point. He's a lock. Multiple DPoY awards, multiple All-NBA and all-defense teams, 8x all star, career 17/13/2 averages. He's had an awesome career.

I'd give it to Howard, but I refuse to believe Rose will be the only MVP to not make the HoF
By giririsss Go To PostFirst Ballot?

He's lost a lot of good will and lost relevance early in his career, so maybe. But Dikembe & Ben Wallace are the only guys in history with more DPOYs than him, it's a joke if he's not a lock.
By seph Go To PostBetter career: D Rose or Howard?
Did Rose actually have a career?
By livefromkyoto Go To PostUh, 8x all star, 5x first team, 3x DPOY?weird how fast he fell off, doesnt seem like he belongs there.
Yeah he's going to the hall.

lol Luke wanted Dlo gone.
you knew the writing was on the wall when he decided to demote DLo in favor of Clarkson starting the point guard role.
in the meantime, Johnson's belief in the next rookie point guard runs deep, which is why he told Lonzo Ball in their pre-draft meeting that he envisions him coming in to be a leader. But having that space to lead would have been nearly impossible had not Lakers coach Luke Walton concluded that Russell was not going to develop completely into what the Lakers wanted, and essentially make him a tradable asset.

Dwight was the second best player in the league for three seasons and managed to drag a supporting cast of Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis to top defensive ranks in the NBA and 60 wins year after year.
And then the back injury and everything else happened.

Favors erased a lot of his Jazz related social media stuff D:
Loved Derrick Favors. Sad about his health and fit.
He's probably gone.

Aight here's my thoughts. Despite having every reason to feel otherwise, Brook always wanted to be a Net lifer and I always said I hoped he'd get that chance because that kind of irrational loyalty is really rare. Like, he has been through some shit. Historically terrible seasons, front offices trying to trade him for garbage on an annual basis, locker room bullshit, he stayed faithful through it all. So he will be missed and it's sad that he won't get the ending he wanted.
On the other hand, he's going to a big market, he's from California originally, and he has an outside shot at the playoffs. We didn't dump him into a totally shit situation or anything. And hey if he still wants to come back maybe next year we can sign him again, who knows?
Now if you put the emotional shit aside, I see this trade as a big win. Remember when Billy King almost traded Lopez for fucking Reggie Jackson? D'tective is 21 years old and has a higher ceiling than any young player we've had in recent memory. Kenny Atkinson specializes in developing point guards. There won't be much pressure on him. He's going to have the best opportunity he could ask for to grow as a player and if there's any star potential in that boy I expect Kenny to drag it out of him.
Considering that Lopez is an expiring and that his foot could still blow up at any moment, D'tective is a much better return than I ever expected. The Mozgov contract is shit but he's a serviceable player and we have plenty of space. If we were going to trade Lopez, now was the right time, and this was the right offer. Another smart move by Marks.

Moz statistically has rated as the worst center in the league for the last few seasons.
He's really bad.
But he's not the point of the trade either.

Agreed. Nets got the best of that trade. Feel like Lakers gave up too soon on Russ. Like you should at least wait to see have start the year off since most rookie have a break out season in their 3rd year.

I think his cornrows are still there. Just a combination of them not being redone and terrible photo quality.

By masud Go To PostThey still could. I don't think that Nets Lakers deal can be official till draft night since the Nets cant trade their pick. I asked about that but no one responded.By the way. We are allowed to trade our pick as long as we have another first rounder. And we have #22.
Trade is done.
