By rodeoclown Go To PostBoston should definitely be trying to flip the #3 and stuff for George and then dare him to leave more money and 55 wins for the Lakers.Yeah. I'm with IWMTB / You on this. Was saying it earlier. If PG13's real reason for leaving indy is a competitive desire, he's not leaving a 55+ win team for the lakers next off season. And if he wants to be playing in the finals ... i'd rather take my chances going through the east than the west.
If they haven't been building up all these picks and young players up for this moment, then what?

not worth the risk when you can just get hayward for free I guess, though I think george is better by quite a bit
Tobias Harris is just a more palatable Jeff Green
If Jeff Green was consistant he'd be Tobias Harris.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postnot worth the risk when you can just get hayward for free I guess, though I think george is better by quite a bitThe team is already ECF good. If they wouldn't move the picks and young guys for Jimmy Butler or Paul Goerge, what other star is out there waiting for them to pounce on? I don't think Hayward leaving is nearly a guarantee and at some point, these assets have to become something. If they keep the picks, they turn them into dudes like Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier and then they're not nearly as valuable.
David Aldridge
Pacers asking teams for ideas on potential PG trades, per sources, as they have for a while. Ideally: 2 firsts+starter. Teams obv skittish.

Boston has what, 5 first rounders in the next two years, on top of the #3 pick this year?
Hayward is better than George but not significantly so.
If LA doesn't trade for PG, I doubt he walks from more money especially if he's traded to a team that has playoff success.

By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostBoston has what, 5 first rounders in the next two years, on top of the #3 pick this year?#3, 2018 Lakers, 2018 Nets, 2019 Clippers, 2019 Grizzlies. Plus all their own. I think they can take a shot at Paul George.
By blackace Go To PostI understand the expectation of a top 5 pick… but being the next Tobias Harris isn't exactly a red flag..
As stated above that's not a bad thing but not for the third pick in this draft.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI'd go with IWMTBs idea too btw. I'd rent George for a first, Oubre and mahinmi and dare him to walk, if the Lakers are unwilling to trade at all. He might walk, but it's worth the gamble and getting rid of a bad contract.
That team would remind me so much of the JKidd Nets, but I don't know if they'd be as good or not.

Hayward is just a really good player.
PG was looking like a top 10 player over the past two seasons - dude just gasses out after carrying that garbage heap. Hayward ain't even the best player on his own team.

act like pg ain't a one man show
By diehard Go To PostHe's great, but could certainly be a better teammate and more consistent.yeah pg gets plenty of time to rest between monta, al jeff, teague, and lance stephenson
Wonder if we have anything that could remotely tempt Indy. Probably not. Goddamn though, PG with Russ would probably get us to a top 3 seed next year.
PG is definitely inconsistent. Seems to always step up in the playoffs though so I'm willing to excuse it as him knowing his teammates ain't shit.

Which part, the top 3 seed?
We weren't that far off this year and our forward rotation was possibly the worst in the league.
Slot Paul George in there and I would be very surprised if we didn't.

How much heartbreak from guys leaving can you take?
By livefromkyoto Go To PostHow much heartbreak from guys leaving can you take?It wouldn't be heartbreak unless we gave up too much to get him.
By Stern Go To PostHayward is the best cac in the league for sure. Probably the best American cac since Larry.
Man I'd take PG in a heartbeat. With Lebron declining, just having a dude that can give you 80% of what Lebron does is a win in today's NBA.
Durant cares so, so much about what people think of him.
Imagine being as rich, talented, and accomplished as him and still being that insecure.

By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostWhy would L.A give up the #2 pick if PG has made it clear that he wants to be a Laker? Why would Indiana trade him to Cleveland? Huh?

Well PG didn't say he would only sign with LA.. The idea is that after being on a playoff quality roster he might be willing to sign with them in 2018... Therefore the Lakers would want to make sure he isn't going somewhere he might be happy (with the winning)
The Pacers just want something in return for him is why they would trade him at all..
