By Kabro Go To PostLol lakers arent trading that #2 pick. Best theyll get is #28 and deng to match contracts.Yeah they will definitely take on an awful contract to give up a superstar. Sounds legit to me.
By s y Go To PostWhy would L.A give up the #2 pick if PG has made it clear that he wants to be a Laker? Why would Indiana trade him to Cleveland? Huh?Why would a guy, leaving a horrible team because they're not competitive (indy), want to sign with the 30 win lakers, if he's on a 55+ win team? (GSW, POR, WAS, BOS, CLE... )

If he goes to the Cavs that team is obviously going to the finals and if they can keep Love and Kyrie a damn good prospect to win a championship. That's literally the best argument that could be made for a player to stay on a team.
The Pacers likely know that, and I wouldn't be surprised went to the Cavs first knowing a team like the Lakers would have to make that trade now or legit risk PG staying on the superior team
TT and Shump for George. Get it done Griffin.
Then get Melo on the team somehow. Gilbert's pockets will be feeling empty soon.

What could Cleveland possibly offer the Pacers? They don't have any draft picks to trade until like 2040 and they have Turner so Love/TT is useless.
i don't know why "guy wants to play in LA" is such a hurdle for so many
indy sucks. ppl like living/working/playing in awesome areas. 'i just want to win' has always meant get me the fuck out of here

By Kabro Go To PostLeverage. How does it work? That's worse than nothing for the Pacers. There is no leverage.
Lakers dont have to do anything at this point.

But George is a Clippers fan.
He should force his way to the Clippers.

They could flip Love for picks really easy as long as they take roleplayers back for salary reasons.
TT is a more difficult come up.
By diehard Go To PostThat's worse than nothing for the Pacers. There is no leverage.Theres been plenty of good picks late in the first. Its a buyer's market for PG. I'd hate to be in their position.

That Deng contract will have to be packaged with things just to get rid of in exchange for nothing.
Deng and #28 to the Nets for a second round pick, something like that. Not PG.

Can't imagine many teams wanting to help Cleveland add another superstar after these Finals though.

Blazers should do it in a second. Send Turner and all 3 of those picks they got (plus maybe a future blazer pick) and add Love to Nurkic. McCollum, and Lillard.

and still blowing my mind the Cavs have anything to offer.
If I were the Spurs or Clippers?
I'd jump all over that.

I mean..... if its a scenario where the pacers aren't looking to rebuild but want a star player under contract......
Also The Cavs re-up a much better team......

That's what I'm thinking, hope the price doesn't Get driven too high.
Considering that LA nearly lost the #2 and the first in 2019, Im not sure what package would be too much
By Stern Go To PostDeng isn't getting traded anywhere. We'll probably use the stretch provision on him. That would be awesome if that was still a thing. Don't feel bad, the Kings didn't even know it existed.
Completely off topic, and from the grave, but I would like to thank IWMTB19 for the KH2 spoilers. PS4 was my first sony console, I was about to start KH for the first time. ggnore

By DY_nasty Go To Postor he opts out and a team is looking stupidNo one is breaking the bank for a player who said he ain't coming back... but maybe the Lakers to cockblock...
It's not like people who say bet Portland wishes they didn't give up that mid first pick and that horrible Crabbe contract if he leaves
I wouldn't wish the equivalent of the LA Dwightmare on anyone. Losing a guy you just traded assets to get for absolutely nothing sucks. There's no way I'd trade anything significant for PG without an extension.
It ended up being easier to stomach for us since Bynum's legs exploded in Philly, so that asset would have become worthless anyway, but it was a pretty lousy feeling at the time.

I'm going to operate under the assumption that IND knows that CLE is still in their division and that still means something in the modern NBA.

aint like they were any competition for the Cavs w/ PG...
By domino Go To Postaint like they were any competition for the Cavs w/ PG…
Gave us a more entertaining series than the Cs or Raps.
I don't see the Calculus of Cavs Warriors changing at all with a Love for George swap. To get on equal footing the Cavs would need to add George without losing any starters sans JR, and I don't think they have any assets to get a deal like that done.
PG in / Love out gives you a better shooter/scorer, defender, probably rebounder, another playmaker.
Depending on what else the Cavs would have to throw in I'd take that in a heartbeat vs the Warriors.

He's not a better rebounder than Love. Significant downgrade there actually. Passing is at best equal because Love brings help on post ups and can pass out of the post, as well as being a good inbound passer. Defender yes, big improvement. Scorer yes, big improvement. It's likely a net positive, but I think the swap would be worth +1 win at most really. Losing rebounding against a team like GS is a really big deal and would hurt bigly.
Lose in 6 instead of in 5 and risk PG going to the Lakers. Cavs lose a superstar with no recourse to improve. Would be gameover.
Yeah Love is a pretty great rebounder and outlet passer. You could theoretically play Lebron at the 4 all season long, and just iso people to death because no one has the wings to guard Kyrie/George/Lebron off the dribble without severe matchup problems.
If this did happen, I'd be more amazed that Danny Ainge allowed it to happen.

The run up to this draft has been more exciting than the previous the NBA season.
I'm still absolutely terrified with what comes next. Do I trust Magic?

ESPN radio this morning was auctioning off everyone on the roster for a first round pick. All these rumors and smoke screens got me worried.
