By reilo Go To PostNah, development on Linux for software has been popular since the dawn of Linux.Linux was nowhere near that popular in the 1990s.
In a survey where the audience is nearly 70% developers, it's not shocking that a big chunk of them develop software on a Linux based system, given that Open Source software written for *nix systems is quite proliferated. Even the White House was using Linux servers as far back as 2001.

I didn't read the fine print.
Of course that makes sense. My father sells huge Unix systems (has been for 30 years) so I'm well aware of how administrations favor it. My bad!
Something that people don't know before trying, fingerprint recognition on cell phones can be annoying since you obviously leave fingerprints on them and it confuses the reader. Annoying. Might disable the option.
I'm pretty much done paying off my G3 and tbh no new phones on the market are really jumpng out and calling to me.
After trying out my mom's Moto G, I really like how snappy stock Android + Marshmallow is.
Would installing stock Android on my G3 improve performance? It's not slow at all but it's definitely not as snappy as the Moto G.

Yeah I'm gonna give it a try.
Also, the iPad pro is super tempting. Great reviews from the art community. Especially compared to the Cintiq Companion.

Yea, they're most likely announcing one today.

New smaller iPad Pro for $599:
And a new iPhone SE, which is a iPhone 5S with iPhone 6S specs for $399:
Apple has just announced a new iPad Pro, a smaller version of its iPad Pro tablet released last year. The new iPad Pro has a 9.7-inch display and weighs less than one pound. The new Pro is the same size as the iPad Air 2, which Apple says is the most popular size of iPad use.http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/21/11256118/apple-new-ipad-price-specs-release-date
The display on the new iPad Pro is said to be 40 percent less reflective than the iPad Air 2's screen, and Apple claims that it has the lowest reflectivity of any tablet screen. Apple also claims that the 9.7-inch display is the brightest tablet screen on the market. It also features a new technology called "True Tone Display", which measures the color temperature of ambient light and adjusts the display to match. The Pro also takes advantage of iOS 9.3's new blue-light reduction feature for late-night use.
And a new iPhone SE, which is a iPhone 5S with iPhone 6S specs for $399:
Apple has just announced the iPhone SE, a new 4-inch smartphone that offers a smaller and cheaper option to the company's flagship iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. It's like a mix between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 generations of devices, taking the size and design of one and the latest specs and capabilities of the other. Apple calls the iPhone SE "the most powerful 4-inch smartphone ever."http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/21/11254078/apple-iphone-se-announced-size-price-release-date
At the heart of the iPhone SE is the 64-bit Apple A9 processor together with the embedded M9 motion co-processor, the same as the iPhone 6S. That means it can play games just as brilliantly as Apple's current flagship, plus it supports hands-free "Hey Siri" prompting. The camera is also carried over from the 6S, it's the same 12-megapixel iSight camera with a dual-tone flash and the ability to shoot Live Photos and 4K video.
Speaking of tablets, I've yet to use a tablet that works for me as a replacement of paper for lecture notes. I think it's the size. The larger ipad is too big to hold for long, it's clunky, and any other size is too small to have enough words... Very disappointing. You'd think by now there would be tablets with almost no bezel.
By reilo Go To PostI'm surprised one of the 3 standard form factors doesn't work. What about iPad Mini/Nexus 7 size?Waaaaaaaay too small. I need to have as much information as possible, and as readable as possible, as I'm taking quick glances at my notes during a lecture/speech, especially when I also use a drawing board. I use a Nexus 10 when I can't print. A 10 inch display really does not cut it compared to standard sheets of paper. Paper will still be king (and we'll keep fucking up the environment) as long as we don't have a 8 1⁄2 × 11" tablet with zero bezel and that is not too clunky.

Though hybrids are close, the keyboard lets you smash out a few words quickly. I regularly found my self linking points from different slides and shit.
I was randomly looking at what new MBPs cost because I had the itch to buy a new one eventhough I don't need one. I'd probably donate my old one to my friend since his broke. Although, the new MBP 15" are cheaper than when I bought mine three years ago, so that's nice.

Wow, I slapped CyanogenMod 12 on my LG G3 and put on Nova Launcher and performance is way better and the audio seems louder? Lol. Much snappier and I much prefer the stick aesthetic.
I don't see myself upgrading anymore lol.

By PSYCH! Go To PostHoly shit CM13 is crazy fast. never upgrading my phoneI rooted my G3 yesterday but I'm not sure if getting CM13 on this would be wise. Last time I rooted the G3 and tried CM12 the camera and GPS were worse than stock. Have they fixed that now?
I just picked up an iPad Mini 4 yesterday. I already have a MacBook Pro 2015 and an iPhone 6S but i wanted a tablet for my daily commute to work. It's pretty nice but I'm not sure how long the novelty will last. So far I'm using this more than my MacBook at home.
The me from 5 years ago would have hated this. I used to be Android everything. I just switched over last year. Never owned any Apple products before besides a few iPods. I appreciate iOS a lot. It does a lot of things better than Android. But I won't lie I miss Android at times too.

Replaced it with a Windows laptop. Screen was absolutely gorgeous tho.

I was studying Business & IT, so I couldn't really use things like MS Visio, MS Project, etc on a laptop.
The best use cases I can come up with for a tablet are honestly... browsing, playing games and watching movies when you don't really want to use your bulky laptop. It just seems kind of silly to have three devices that serve 90% of the same functionality for me, but that's kind of where tech has headed in the last few years.

The closest are Hybrids, like the Surface Pro's and things like that.
They tried very hard to convince the world otherwise though.
I think tablets can be great tool for artists in conjunction with a more powerful laptop/desktop, e.g. artists using a tablet to make concept art.

Just for a very long time apple and samsung and a few others tried to sell them as entire PC/Laptop replacements. which they just aren't.
I think they are for the right consumer: the older generation that only needs to do basic day-to-day tasks and maybe a few bit more power tasks.
*Scust at the mere mention of Windows*
I need to take a shower after reading mentions of Windows. OS X works best for me after 21 years in the Windows ecosystem. OS X works well and is not nearly as difficult as Windows. El Capitan shits on Windows 10.

Any way to check if my monitor is HDCP compliant? I connected my PS4 to it and it worked fine but I can't watch movies in HD from the Google Play store. I checked the manufacturer website and it says
but still no HD from the play store.
MHL-HDMI (digital, HDCP)
but still no HD from the play store.
It's ebay so you're bidding on it. The starting bid is $530 but it probably won't stay there.
Not sure on the HDCP compliance NinjaFridge... all modern monitors should be. What's the model of your monitor?
