RT @CamHeyward: Got fined for honoring my Dad who bravely fought cancer on my eye black. #Nevergiveup #CancerSucks http://t.co/RTx988ijG9
Fuck them. So much.
It's a political move. Say a player was protesting against police brutality, they wouldn't want players to have the right to express it in symbolic gestures...

Had to know he was going to get fined. Same with Deangelo Williams. Yeah it's dope you want to honor a loved one and spread awareness on an absolutely vicious disease. Any reasonable person wouldn't have any problem at all with this stuff. But the NFL is no tolerance with the uniform on gameday. This particular battle was lost way back when they told Tebow he couldn't put John 3:16 on his eye paint. They're gonna have to bring this issue to the fore in the next cba discussion two seasons from now.

If the article prohibits causes not approved by the NFL, but Williams’s request involves a cause explicitly supported by the NFL, you might ask what exactly the problem is. This isn’t “Close Gitmo” on a mouthguard, after all. There aren’t two sides to the issue of breast cancer. No one could conceivably have any qualms with Williams wearing pink outside of October.I don't think the author goes far enough in those two paragraphs. What they really should have angled for is that it doesn't benefit the NFL as a brand and their bottom-line by having a player run his own promotions of a noble cause.
To ask what the problem is is to ask a rhetorical question, of course. What’s compromised by DeAngelo Williams wearing pink all season is the NFL’s authority, and its ability to promote its attention to causes at the times and in the places and in the ways it chooses.
The NFL deserves the backlash it's getting for this. They themselves have pushed this behavior with Pink accessories during October and Camo during November with their faux "we care" rhetoric. They shove pink towels and camouflage caps down our throat but the second you step out of line with their commercial interests (which is all the pink/camo stuff is) they're gonna come after you.
Hell, they even gave Brandon Marshall the riot act for trying to bring attention to mental disorders with green accessories during his time in Chicago. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bears/2013/10/16/brandon-marshall-fined-green-cleats-mental-health-awareness/2995043/
I can't wait to see Goddell and the rest of his stooges squirm when Will Smith's concussion movie releases.

By Trey Go To PostThey're already messing with Concussion, apparently.Really? Wow.
I was surprised to see NFL logos in the movie, apparently they were able to find some loophole to do so but I wouldn't be surprised if all the rich owners who obviously have connections in every facet of this country pulled strings to soften the movie or at least change the tone of the league's portrayal.
They already messed with Concussion. It's fact that Sony re-wrote or edited out aspects of the story not to piss off the NFL: http://slaent.com/thread/400973/
