I honestly can't stress how important More's performance is too. He absolutely sets the tone of the whole game, his Japanese counterpart is just reading lines.
The English language VA is genuinely excellent. Heismay's actor in particular is a delight.
The only JRPG that comes close is the first 'Ni No Kuni'. The Welsh actor for Drippy remains untouchable.

also, using mage to attack and kill enemies before entering actual battle can restore MP. early game it'll definitely sustain you well - later on not so much.

I switched Strohl to brawler part way through the dungeon since it uses HP instead and the gargoyles are weak to it’s basic attack.
I think I just need to conserve MP more again the weaker mobs. I definitely waste it to get an easy battle over with sooner than I really need to.

also certain enemies in dungeons will not respawn - gargoyles being one of them
and yeah conserving MP when possible is typically the move. you never want to stumble across a mini-boss running on E

The best thing about is that you protect against the demons of anime and marvel voicework that US voice-acting seems to summon.
I have intense brainrot after the Dragon Temple (very tedious dungeon, the low point of the game so far imo). Went to do a side dungeon afterwards and I kept getting ambushed by some skeletons because the corridor was tiny AND blocked by a crystal. Their lunge is massive and they aren't synced so dodging both while hitting them to stun is... quite something with the naff controls.
Ofcourse, after I raged, quit the game and went to bed the solution came to me: simply hit triangle to start the fight normally and forget about ambushes. 🤦

Just reached the second town. Was kinda hoping for some escapades while traveling on the runner. Little side quest, maybe a dungeon. Anything to break up what felt like an hour of story and companion dialogue since leaving Grand Trad.
I don’t dislike the story and companions to be fair, but I definitely prefer the combat over them. The two dungeons I've done so far were A+ video games.

No worries it's definitely more combat than story overall. But when it story's its absolute cinema
Make sure you pick up all the bounties and sidequests before heading out!
Even with two piercing Synthesis skills, these Guptaurus are just far too tanky for me to fight. I can kill them but they eat so much of my MP they'd turn a simple dungeon into a two-day slog, or take a load of my regen items.

Might get need to spend all my archetype xp items right now to get enough dark magic and debuffs to kill this boss. Otherwise I'm looking at wasting four days going back to Brilehaven, and then back into this dungeon.

Game entered bitch eating crackers mode for me with all these endgame dungeons being... the bad type of JRPG combat. Just started skipping everything. I may have even told Gallica to shut the fuck up. OUT LOUD.
I am almost tempted to just watch the last few hours of scenes on YouTube, I'm that over the game.
It's decent but preferred both Persona games I've played to it in the end. Maybe the formula just getting a bit stale for me, who knows. Hope not.

Or just give me more Del. Del and Basilio were like having fucking... Cilla Black and Paul O'Grady in the game.
