By Koko Go To PostTitle and synopsis reminds me I gave a big chuckle when I saw the tagline "Revenge Gets Ripped" for Love Lies Bleeding.

Shockingly it seems The First Omen isn't the boring safe prequel the trailer made it look like and it's actually good.
Reviews are next week so only social media impressions are out but they aren't usual "oh this movie rocks" and "best horror movie of the year, you just have to watch it".
One reviewer said the movie felt more weird and unsettling like something from a small European studio than something from a big Hollywood studio while another said there's a scene that is a clear homage to Possession, definitely not something I expected to read about this movie.

blue giant is a beautiful, soulful film about a bunch of a lads trying to become jazz musicians. great soundtrack as well. the ending is fantastic. a bigger climax than the one in, say, whiplash, imho. remain seated for the encore encore after the credits.
wasn't too crazy about the animation, though. and at certains points they switch to 3d models which looks jarring. curious to read what the lads who watch a lot of anime think about it.
and wild at heart is a fucking trip. loved it. great performances from everyone, and dern in particular.

Watching godfather 2 for the first time
1) junior soprano is in every single crime movie I've watched since seeing the sopranos
2) Michael being a lil manlet is distracting

Thankfully the production still allowed for some gorgeous 2D sequences involving instruments:

watched The Farewell today. Was barely ok tbh. Which is a shame, cause it would probably be good if the main actress could act just half as well as everyone around her.
also what we do in the shadows. mid. jojo very clear.

Poor Things was fantastic, probably my favourite from Yorgos Lanthimos.
Wonderfully bizarre story, amazingly funny and strong performance by Emma Stone, absolutely gorgeous set design and use of colour.
Also loved the use of fish eye lens.

Monkey Man at the upscale 'white-centric" cinema has two tickets sold for Thursday at 8PM. The theater connected to the mall for a more city "urban" crowd is 9 tickets away from being sold out at the same time of 8PM.

Finally watched Incendies.
I will never watch it again but I think it might be Villeneuve's best. Not seen Dune 2 or Polywhatsitsname but yeah. Very, very good. Ending might be a bit much but I've had so many underwhelming endings in all sorts of media lately that I ate it up.

By Call Sign: Apollo Go To PostYou’ve never heard of musicals?I have, I even worked on some.
I just don't know of any that would help with the Joker/Harley Quinn dynamic.
Unless they go all Phantom of the Opera with it, which would be gloriously bad and funny.

Following the massive success of “Dune: Part Two,” director Denis Villeneuve may have found his next project..
The filmmaker is in discussion to reunite with Legendary for an adaptation of Annie Jacobsen’s Pulitzer Prize finalist “Nuclear War: A Scenario,” Variety has confirmed. Legendary also confirmed that it is working with Villeneuve to develop a third “Dune” film.
