By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhy have manutd got like a 13 day gap between their last game and the last game of the season? The should be playing Chelsea this weekend, but it was moved to accommodate the FA cup final
By Xpike Go To PostI think one of Jesus' strenghts is also he can not only play 9 but could fit into either side of the pitch if needed, which is something Arteta clearly wants from all his players
Also we're signing Aaron Hickey from Bologna apparently, that's LB/RB derph covered
Do we only watch Bologna for fullbacks.
we won a match. forgot what it feels like. actually played good football for 60 minutes. then were pressed back for 30 min and they almost got the equalizer for 2-2 in the end. may allah be with us, 2 matches left that needs to be won and champions. but we are so fucking inconsistent.
I will be happy if I am proven wrong about Jesus, but I find the signing completely underwhelming.
We are talking about a guy who scored nearly 50% of his goals this season in the league during one game. Plus, he seems to be better out wide, whixh we already have covered.
Dude just smacks of Morata for me. Does everything right except actually finish.

I honestly think it has been very hard to judge him in the context of a move to Arsenal because City have moved so far away from playing a traditional striker. I think that compliments Jesus though, because despite that he has a solid goal return and has improved his overall play to the point where he can be an effective winger despite basically only being a poacher when he arrived.
At a club like Arsenal where he'll likely be the number 1 striker for the majority of games I think he'll do very well, both in terms of goalscoring but overall play too.
If Arsenal fans are looking down on a signing like Jesus, their ambitions are wildly out of step with where they should be.
Morning, lads.

Some of the comments in the RedCafe thread are hilarious. I wonder if these people have ever seen Frenkie play.

I hope you don't the same limits on your kids ambitions
If our ambition is anything other than to win the league then it's not really showing much ambition imo
Sounds like De Jong wants to stay, but Barca need the money and he's the player of the highest value they're willing to sell. In that case you'd imagine there'd be clubs offering CL football that are more tempting. But we have the manager he played his best football under.
If Leeds get relegated and if Phillips is genuinely cheap, I’d have him, but no shot for the initial prices being touted.
He’d make an incredible partner to De Jong who is 100%, definitely, going to sign.
Formations time, lads.

Every time he’s had a run of games at City he’s delivered.
Arteta has worked with him. I’d trust the process on this one.

How many times has Gabriel Jesus won the league?
I’ll tell you. Three, soon to be four. More top level domestic league trophies than your entire squad put together (one because I’m not counting Tierney’s).
He would be an outstanding signing for your football club whose ambition, as you say, should be to win the league. Not consolidate or retain, but improve enough to win it.
Seems like a lot of the Arse fans were just iffy on the price for Jesus, not that he wouldn't be a solid signing

Because they don’t get that 50m is the new 30m.

Feel like Phillips could be a good signing for Newcastle - would give him time to develop in a team that is going to be on up but not necessarily too high so that he might have trouble finding his footing.
Whenever I have watched Jesus, he is at his best out wide. We need a strong CF who can link up play and finish.
Nothing I have seen from Jesus tells me he is that player.
I think it was the FA Cup semi a few weeks back. One on one with the keeper and you just knew he would fuck it up.
And all the talk of City moving away from a traditional striker, maybe the reason was because they knew he wasn’t the one.
He might be a solid signing, but not the guy to lead the attack.
I would much rather we went for Martinez and Abraham. Inter are always willing to sell if the right price comes in.
I hope I am proved. If we get him for 50 million and he bangs in 20 a year then I will be over the moon.

Apparently I’ve decided I’m prepared to give Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford another chance. Priority signings: CM, CM, RB, CB
Hope is seeping in.

I don't know why it's being treated like Gabriel is the be all and end all.
We just came off a season with Auba, Laca, and Eddie up front. We will soon have 0.
We (should) be in 4 competitions. We need more than one.

this is also true.
100% we need depth. I just hope we get the main pieces right first.
A CF and a CM to control possession.
A CF and a CM to control possession.
Think we may be looking at Jesus to play out wide (if need be) and then a target man to play up top. 2 players with similar attributes to Auba and Laca essentially.

Pogba and cavani all one trophies before they came to utd so I dont see that as a barometer for our ambition. And like the example I just used its more nuanced than that.
We need a killer in front of goal ideally and I dont think Jesus is.

Ideal summer would be 2 x CF, a CM, & backup for Tierney.
Really want Saliba to join the team but I'm worried he's going to get Arteta'd. Not even sure where he would fit.
