By Frustrated_me Go To PostZidaneHe’s like ancelotti yes
- In his first Clasico in charge he ended Barcelona's 39 match unbeaten run, he was signed in winter;
- Ended the league with just 1 point behind Barcelona, who btw were at one point 15+ points up - this is Zidane taking over the season in January;
- Won CL in his first season in charge;
- In Season 2 he won the league, this was his first full season in charge, ended the season with 93 points;
- In Season 2 he won the Super Cup against Sevilla;
- Went on a 35 straight run without a loss in Season (new club record), then extended this run to 40 games (breaking Barca's record);
- Won the CWC in Season 2;
- He then won the CL again in Season 2, to become the first team to ever win it back to back (new CL format);
- In Season 3 he won the Super Cup against United;
- A week later after the Super Cup, he won the tie against Barcelona to win the Super Copa;
- Won the Best Men's Coach in 2017;
- Then won another CL, third in a row - another record;
- In 2019 March, Zidane came back, wining the Super Copa agianst Atletico;
- Then later in the same season won another league title in 2020; and
- That last year in charge a record number of players scored goals, and it was our best defensive record in decades.
Blows my mind people think Zidane is just a "ego manager" or "juju juice" lucky, either you guys dont follow La Liga (and fair fucks to you if you dont) or ignore what he's accomplished. It's not just the games he's won either, he tried to change our game and adapt to Bale, Vini, Harzard, squeeze as much from KCM, Ronaldo, Jovic, etc etc. He tried 4-4-2 when it was needed, went back to 4-3-3, even did the diamond with Isco.
But I’d rather have sacchi over ancelotti. Opinions and all
By Perfect Blue Go To PostWilt Chamberlain played when all of his opponents were 5’5 white guys built like McLovin
Yeah and he was the best player.
I think it was then Kareem, Moses Malone, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Jordon, Hakeem, Jordon, Shaw, Kobe, Lebron, Giannis.
Or something along those lines.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostPut some respect on Oscar Robertson’s name bro
Wasn’t my list, maybe Oscar was in there.
By Cleff Go To PostFair enough.
Still took control of that side, got them to the CL SF, lost his best players and rebuilt the side again after.
When you say rebuilt them though…
They lost Frenkie, Dolberg, Schone and De Ligt for 180m or so and then went out and spent around 60m. True, this is rebuilding.
The season after, Ajax lost Ziyech, Donny, Dest etc. and made around 90m and spent 60m on the likes of Promes and Haller. Sure, rebuilding.
But in context…
In 2019/20, PSV spent 25m and lost Lozano, Angelino, Bergwijn, De Jong for about 90m. Feyenoord spent 10m and had outgoings of 20m.
In 2020/21, PSV spent around 15m. Feyenoord spent around 5m.
Ten Hag has had a massive advantage financially and done no more real rebuilding than his closest rivals.
By n8 dogg Go To PostWhen you say rebuilt them though…Ajax still lost their best players. He had money to spend and did it wisely and built another good side from it. A lot of clubs don't get that right. Happened to Spurs after Bale, Liverpool after Torres. United after every summer.

His European record is quite good as well. I think they play well beyond their means in that regard. The CL semi is obviously his biggest achievement on that stage, but his Ajax side breezed through the group stages this season. Lost to Benfica of course, but that result was a bit of a fluke given the dominance Ajax asserted in the second leg. They're one of the better sides in Europe, playing some of the most progressive football around.
By Cleff Go To PostFair enough.Didn't mean that as a dunk or whatever, just pointing out the error. And yes, he took over the next season mid-season and took Ajax from sixth to within 4 points of the top of the table. Has won the league ever since until we signed him. In that time he has built two very capable teams but also showed his ability to adapt and get the best out of the players he has at hand and was minutes/seconds from taking a very young but extremely talented group of players to the UCL finals. And he did that while knocking out some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Still took control of that side, got them to the CL SF, lost his best players and rebuilt the side again after.
It remains to be seen how good he will be in top European club and in a tough league as the EPL but he is a very good coach from what he has done so far.

Sure, but his rebuilding of sides is relative to other sides having to as well.
I have faith in him; he’s a good coach and can only improve our players. I have zero faith in the system around him. As good as Pep and Klopp are, they’re also beneficiaries of a system wholly in sync with their way of doing things. United isn’t.
By Daz Go To PostI find N8's lack of faith in Teh Haq disturbing.
It’s a good sign, his track record with Ole and Ralph is hospital.

I’ll never understand why people rate him as only a free kick taker. It’s as if they didn’t watch the man play
Amongst a lot of football fans, his abilities were dismissed. Whereas amongst non-football fans, he was the face of the sport and one of the only names that people knew, which perhaps was unfair to other talents at the time.
I was thinking of how Beckham would suit today's game. His role of right-midfielder of a flat four midfield doesn't really exist any more so I think he would be more suited to playing rwb than an attacking winger.

zidane needs to go to another money team, preferably state-sponsored, just win the league for a decade & failing at every opportunity at winning the CL to get some respect on his name, please understand

Yeah Simeone overachieved massively with that Atletico team. Fair enough if you don't like his style of play, but he'll be a legend at that club forever

So it's a silly argument against him, especially considering he outclassed you in the league then.
People trying to talk shit about Simeone is one of the strangest things I see, but it is mostly by Real supporters so at least it makes sense in a rivalry kind of way. But it's honestly up there with some of the strangest United posts in here. He's most certainly not the best manager in the world, but he is around the subtop.
If people dont want him at their club because of his playing style and cunt personality, that's fair. But he has done a great job at Atletico.
Before Simeone became manager of Atletico they finished 9th and 7th for their previous 2 league campaigns and hadn't won a domestic trophy in 18 years.
After Simeone arrived they finished 5, 3, 1, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 3, 1, 3. He won the league with Atleti despite having to contend with Messi and Ronaldo still near their prime. They have since also won the Copa Del Rey, Supercopa, two Europa Leagues, two Uefa Super Cups and were beaten finalists in two Champions Leagues.
He's one of the best managers of the last 30 years.

What Simeone has done at and for that club transcends mere titles. Guy is incredible. It may not translate anywhere else, but will never diminish his achievements there.
He’d play the right side CM in a 3. Did it brilliantly quite often tbh. I think he was absolutely an underrated player because his celebrity detracted from his qualities.
