Even like for like though, how much does some who has output like Mané cost to replace?
I’ve been happy enough with Gomez this season to say he can do enough of a job at RB against the dross of the league. I think as long as we’re playing one of Robbo/TAA, having Tsimikas or Gomez on the opposite side is fine.
Midfield and front 3 need a big injection of quality this season, and it would be incredibly unfair to go into next season needing to rely on the likes of Carvalho and Elliot to provide it.

Pool lads underestimating the void mane will leave.
He's a potent part of that trident. Speed, power, tenacity.

He was our best player last 6 months. We’re under no illusion, hence the reason I think it would be batshit crazy to just put a young lad signed from the Championship into that void and say “good luck son”.
By Crusher Go To PostSalah on a downturn also. I expect City to walk the league next season.
If we’re not up to it then probably yeah. No one else is even close.

that just means that it’ll be played on the academy’s training grounds.
can’t wait to see legends jorgensen and diks again.
Really hope we don't put Salah in the middle again
Don't remember what his output was there, but do remember being unimpressed by the way we and he were playing

It was not good if I remember correctly.
He needs better service, but his decision making has been way off since AFCON. I’m hoping the break will do him good, and to be honest, it might be good for him to not be around Mané on a consistent basis given the way last season went.
Mané was finished for 18 months before his recent revival, so you never know.
Great analysis thread.
Really smart how Modric lured the front pressure line and how Benzema dictated where their backline drifted to, opening space for Vini.

Lmao i give it like a 5% chance that Jørgensen is still there. We only gave him like 4 months contract, and he has been shit and injured.
Kevin Diks though, what a player
By Laboured Go To PostThis is the text book situation where you say "ah, a player says they don't want to come to us, maybe we should a) take that as a sign and b) learn from our past mistakes in this regard".Feel ETH is the one pushing more for the signing than the club. If after the conversations ETH and FDJ have apparently had we still see the club linked to him I think there must have been enough indication in those conversations that he isn't completely against the move.
Sounds more like an answer hes given to keep Barca/fans happy in the event he stays and Barca aren't forced to sell. Which is probably his desired move here but can't stay where they want/need to sell.
I do think we should be looking at other midfield options though at the same time and pressuring Barca into confirming if he's on the market.
Not wanting to leave Barcelona, his childhood dream club makes sense. Having some doubts about United makes sense. The Premier League is very competitive, there’s a chance United might not make the Champions League for a few years.
I don’t think it means he doesn’t want to come or he’d hate it here. If he decides to sign he will be happy.

Hear we're probably signing this Darwin Nunez chap. Who or what is he? Does he deserve to be known by me?

Real really going to spend the Mbopi money on Tchouaméni huh. Papa Flo won't be denied twice. Good on Monaco though.
By Laboured Go To PostTaken with a pinch of salt but…
Danish newspapers have been reporting for months now, on how Barca have been dicking around and making Christensens camp annoyed. Would be hilarious if that bangwanker cunt ends up at some other club now, that he has burnt his bridges at Chelsea and Barca cant afford him.

In the 30 years I have knowingly followed football, this is the first time I can say Spurs have impressed me. A good signing and done early in the window.
By Lego Go To PostI don’t know about Nunez. Feeling flop.I feel that if Ten Hag wants him we should try for it. He's the first top level coach we've had since Ferguson retired. He would surely have a play for how Nunez could flourish at United. Or at least could come up with one.

I don’t think this is necessarily true. Van Gaal wasn’t far removed from a CL final and had great success at the World Cup, and Mourinho was a year from winning the title at Chelsea. I don’t think Ten Hag has a demonstrably different profile than either of them other than he’s not tested at the very highest level of league football.
wonder if catalunya banks will try to save barca by lending them money under great conditions

The standard is just lower. Van Gaal won the domestic treble with Bayern in 2010, but that was 5 years prior to joining United. We he actually arrived the football we played was dreadful.
Same with Mourinho. Trophy winning success, but from the way we played, it was clear that we were rapidly falling behind other sides in terms of style and tactics.

By Willkiller Go To PostYou United boys aren't half funnySome of our appointments post Ferguson had brilliant CVs, but when they took over its clear they were past their best. There was a bit of revisionism about Mourinho on here a few weeks ago, but it holds true that he was past it by the time he joined United.
Mourinho was only a few years older than ETH when he started at United with a waaaaaay better CV. Fair enough if we think he’s past it and not top level anymore by the time he came to United but how tf is ETH a top level manager?
Not gonna act like I know who this guy is, but I did think he was like 40.
Dude is in the same age category as Allegri/Conte/Pep/Klopp with nowhere near as much on his resume.
Good luck to the guy.

What I love about Scott Pilgrim is it’s hilarious and visually stunning with a killer soundtrack. It was an experience.

And so is the Eredivisie comparatively to Mourinho in the PL.
Hot Fuzz is flawless. I like SOTD more but HF is his best work. That script is so tight.
Regarding ETH, he is obviously a very good coach, but it is interesting to see him discussed as the hip young thing when all his contemporaries have managed at the top level for a long time already.
