By Elliott Go To PostIf you get stuck on a boss I can help out!
Finished my ng+ playthrough yesterday. Got the Elden lord ending using Fia's rune…eh. Kind of disappointing coming off of Ranni's. Just need to do Lord of Frenzy and I'll have all the achievements and officially be "done" with this game, at least until the inevitable dlc drops.
I just turned off cloud saves and save-scummed the ending. Easiest plat in the souls series.

By n8 dogg Go To PostWhoever decided on this tiny arena to fight the tree spirit at the haligtree is a grade A masochist
just get up on the right side of the arena and spam ranged shit at him whilst his pathing and AI shit the bed. Tree spirits are such garbage bosses, they don't deserve any respect or proper engagement,
Whyyy I really loved fighting them. Dodging their gigantic tail swings and bites is so cool and hollywood
The ones in Haligtree and lake of rot though what the fucking fuck😒😒😒😒. Rot makes everything ultra scary and stressful
Guys, n8 is getting closer.

I have never been more scared in my life
Just when I thought Radahn 1.0 was the scariest fucker
There's a trick/dance to dodging it! A couple!
I BELIEVE N8 CHANNEL YOUR INNER SEKIRO GOD
YOU'RE THE BLADE OF RHODES

By n8 dogg Go To PostCheesed it from the tree with around 300 bolts, no regretsattaboy
By n8 dogg Go To PostThis is fucking impossible lol. Unblockable attack is just nonsense.
I just ran away when she wound up for it. She only ever hit me 1 time in the entire chain
So after 67 tries (yes I counted), I have decided to leave her for now. Went to fight the fire giant and killed him first time lol
Vaati has posted his first lore video for Elden Ring. Time to be taken by surprise at the stuff I completely missed.

Finish the game first Cleggy! Some big twists are mentioned throughout, and they'll still catch you by surprise in game even if you're lost lol
Eh, I was expecting more. I guess I watched one lore video too many already, from people who went much deeper / wider.
Solid recap if you haven't seen anything else tho.

I really don’t understand the Marika is Radagon shit.
Maybe I just don’t find the lore interesting enough.

They actually hinted at it on the reveal trailer🤯 I remember being so confused
The how is open to interpretation but there were other characters that did the same thing, one even blatantly, but none of them Lannistered it like them lmao. One npc quest hints at a method possibly..
Dual identities and lifeform crucibles seems like one of the running themes
he'll go into it much deeper on the next one, he has to.

You know what was surprisingly effective? Throwing pots at her when she leaps into the air lmaoooo it actually knocks her down. Wish I knew that on my first character💀

Finished the game. Level 160, with 107 hours played. Was very thorough about doing everything (followed guides to cross every T).
Overall, really good. Of course it was, I’ve played it for over 100 hours. As I’ve said before, it lacks the focus in regards to its lore and story that Bloodborne and Sekiro does, trading mostly in Western fantasy cliche a little too much. It’s also a little too esoteric for me in regards to the plot and characters - I needed a little more meat on its bones. I also found some of the bosses and enemies in particular places a little disappointing in regards to lore stuff. Like, why is there another Astel in the Snowfields? What’s the Misbegotten shit all about? Why is the entrance to Mohg’s palace in the Snowfields?. They didn’t have the cohesion of the aforementioned games.
I didn’t find many of the bosses incredibly memorable, save maybe 8-10 of them. Too much copying and pasting, as is an open world game’s want (although it’s still likely the best approach I have ever seen to a game like this). But some of those bosses… whew. Really enjoyed myself. Even that cunt Malenia. I leapt out of my seat when I beat her.
Really looking forward to the DLC.

I think I can answer two of your questions 😁
Mohg's portal was placed there as an escape route after he kidnapped Miquella Anelka, there's an npc closeby that talks about it. You could get to him through Varre's quest too. The Misbegotten are one of the shunned races that predate the Erdtree era (you can tell since they're a blend of many creatures), Vaati talked about it for quite a bit!.
Astel 2.0 made no sense to me, but most of the mini dungeons don't lmao and seemed a bit removed from the lore, or at least that's what I think, basically chalice dungeons but done right. Some have lore implications (like Sellen's etc), and the ones close to the trees are there to transfer souls back to the tree (as the concept of death is different now with the Rune of Death removed from life's equation by Marika)
I'm glad you enjoyed it overall! I don't think I'll ever play an open world as mesmerizing as ER any time soon. The exploration was second to none to me, my gaming sessions were basically me picking a random direction and stumbling upon random shit (or items that alter my playstyle) everyday lol. I fucking miss it

Hollow Knight is literally Souls inspired
The dreaming cut content is related to St. Trina (a young girl), which turned out to be Miquella too (a young boy).
Shame they cut drinking with npcs it was so cool in Sekiro😭 I wanted to drink with my boy Kale😭

Just started the elden ring game. I do not know the controls and I suspect this golden horse guy knows it too.
I picked Samurai but feel like having the bow and sword equipped at the same time is weird so am using his cute little round shield instead. Double fisting the sword feels alright I guess.
Edit: also I know you can beat that grafted scion at the start but you're also kinda epxected to die, but even then I am ashamed at my attempt.

Triangle+R1 to use your weapon with two hands! It was never explained, of course lol.
Ya, I've sort of sat there and worked out all the hand switching stuff but boy initially the whole using bow thing then wanting to use sword and then forgetting to re-equip it because by using the bow you're essentially two handing it, and.... yeah I looked like an ass lol
Also, since my last Soulsborne was BB on release and before that PS3 DeS.... let's just say I am adjusting with the whole attack being on shoulder buttons thing. I'm about as newbie as you can get.

Touch wood but I think I might be one of the lucky ones as so far performance has been good on my PC.
The default camera (particularly the auto-correct) is horrible and I found myself fighting against it all the time which was causing me nausea. Then I modded it to be better and it is nice now.
Starting to get a feel for things now and I'm enjoying it. Not hit any horrible difficulty walls yet tho (I'm still just pissing about in West Limgrave to get comfortable with the controls) so I'm sure that's to come.

Pissing about is the name of the game, have fun.

Margit down. The relentless attacking of its second form was stupid lol
Ashes are neat.
First time I’ve done an all dex build. Usually do quality.

Welcome my brother in Souls
Dex is so fun here, especially powerstancing/dual wielding katanas, whew.

So, Ashes of War:
When I get the Whetstone Knife I can then apply an Ash of War to a weapon (presumably also to shields).
1. If that weapon / shield already has an AoW type ability on it then I assume by putting a new AoW on the weapon / shield the original ability gets deleted from the weapon / shield and you cannot reapply it?
2. You can pick up AoWs around the world, but if you then apply it to a weapon / shield is it gone forever or can you apply it to multiple things?
