RIP poor people.
By Laboured Go To PostNow, now, let's hear Kissinger out on this.
By bacon Go To PostJust die already
Apparently the shooter was an 18 year old high school student who shot his grandmother before going to the school.
Those poor parents aren't just gonna deal with the death of their children, they're going to deal with the Q/Alex Jones crowd of fucks harassing them about it being a false flag as well.
America.
Glad I didn’t make the connection first

Biden ain’t gonna do shit except let more $$$$$ go to the Ukraine and offer thoughts and prayers
This country is forever washed and we can’t do shit
Elementary school kids who never even got a chance to be their own person or explore the world or their interests

This shit gets harder when you have kids the same age.

If he found a loophole to use executive action or If even by some miracle the senate was able to pass something any law would get struck down by the current makeup of the Supreme Court
He's not supposed to do anything. Anything they actually want to happen, happens.

I dunno how American parents cope.
Not a parent myself but my niece started nursery recently. I stress a bit about her making friends and stuff, you know. That's all it should ever be. Fuck sake, man.
Not just having to deal with the death of their bairns, they will see it for years and years when it happens to the next set of parents and the next and the next. Madness.

Like look how they effortlessly they redirected liberal ire away from the beneficiaries of industry and imperialism to those few people with letters by their names. There's always someone to blame, always a centralized entity to pretend is causing the problem
We don't have a chance

Also under-reported is that the Southern Baptist Church covered up decades of sexual abuse against children -- over 700 suspected of abuse. This whole spiel of "return to god" is farcical when we don't even hold men of god accountable of abusing children.
Seems like sporting events are the only place where a mass shooting hasn't taken place, guess that'll happen eventually too.

Going back the Ariana Grande thing - if that attacker was able to get inside the venue instead of stuck at the entrance then things would've been an order of magnitude worse.
Ive kinda said my piece on all this years ago and I still feel the same way. America is never taking guns out of people's hands or off the street in any significant capacity. Ever. So the thoughts and prayers to God may as well sit next to the thoughts and prayers to gun regulation.
If we defended schools the same way we defend court houses and hospitals then they'd stop being so attractive to lunatics and so easily escalated to worst possible outcomes as commonly as they are. Even malls and theaters have better security these days... Shit is gonna keep happening. And its gonna happen with guns instead of knives or crossbows or whatever. But at some point folks need to stop blaming inaction in one direction and just accept any solution is better than no solution.

By Not Go To PostImagine if the United States reacted to gun violence in even a fractionally similar fashionYes. Imagine if we actually put the patriot act and all the other shenanigans to use against every gun owner and backyard militia in the country...
I've been clear in the past - I'm VERY okay being a part of that fantastical new agency put together to pry guns out of everyone's hands if it came down to it. But I say that understanding it would be the bloodiest period on American soil in several generations.
Fact is nobody is genuinely about that life. Any potential national disarmament initiative hopes came and went before prohibition. And while all the good, readily compliant law abiding citizens hand in their weapons used for hunting, personal/home/business defense you run right back into issue that no one wants to deal with as is - vulnerable people will be fucked over. The worst of the worst will be at end of the list. And even when gun crimes and suicides spiked with the pandemic, we still had a 'defund the police' swindle fuck *everyone* over. America does not have the capacity, tools, or patience to unfuck this.
People need to stop copy pasting the onion and realize that the US will need a unique approach because its in a unique situation.
Not trying to be a dick or call you out in particular. Its just shitty that people get tired of this, but then embrace another loop that's just as bad. If folks are truly tired of this shit then they wouldn't look to the same dead ends over and over. We're not even throwing random ideas at the wall. It's fucking weird.
What I'm really saying is that when rich people die, the whole country changes and most people lose their rights. When poor people die, we get a few lies thrown at us and the system barely buckles at all.
I'm not in favor of the government disarming anyone forcefully, especially because, as you say, they'd go after the most vulnerable first, as well as the other targets on their list

The US is really a unique situation. You can't just legislate gun controls unilaterally because the right to bear arms is embedded in the supreme law of the land. It sounds easy on the surface of it but it's essentially impossible to make the change. People who live in metropolitan areas have vastly different opinions from those in the rest of the country. It makes sense for arming yourself when governing a massive country unfortunately it doesn't for city centres.
'Rich people' pay for security to minimize damage, mask vulnerability, and otherwise deter fukkery because firstly they can - second because if you could, why wouldn't you? But its not even a 'rich' thing. People who can't afford shit but the livelihood that comes with a business in a shitty area believe in defending themselves. Rideshare drivers didn't wait for Uber to decide if they should protect themselves, etc.
So that doesn't make sense. I go back to the courthouse and hospital example because even though those public facing areas do see violence, they are allowed to consider security to match as an option.
Not even a few years ago the same people begging for gun control turned their noses up at schools doing more than one resource officer. And once again we've got hands clasped hoping a president will snap his fingers making guns vanish.

My daughter came home one day and told me about her active shooter drill. Completely clueless to the severity. Like duck n cover for a nuclear bomb
