They got so much money on hand that they can invest blindly in something like FTX and not even sweat it. Sequoia should be held liable just the same.
LONDON — Seeking to restore Britain’s fiscal credibility after a calamitous foray into trickle-down economics, the British government on Thursday announced tens of billions of pounds of spending cuts and tax increases that officials promised would plug a gaping hole in the nation’s public finances.Obviously the problem with Truss's plan was the lack of austerity
The chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, detailed a raft of tax increases and cuts to government programs worth a cumulative 55 billion pounds, or about $65 billion. It amounted to one of the most austere budgets ever imposed on Britain, a country that is already sliding into recession.
Many of the spending cuts will not take effect for two years, pushing them off until after the next general election, which Mr. Sunak must call by January 2025Of course 😂

Mentioned it before, but some more words on that anti-slavery bill that passed in some states but failed in others: https://www.npr.org/2022/11/17/1137398039/louisiana-voters-rejected-an-antislavery-ballot-measure-the-reason-is-complicate

Specifically regarding Louisiana:
[...]
The sponsor of the amendment himself, state Rep. Edmond Jordan, a Democrat, ultimately opposed it due to changes in the text that he said would have expanded the state's ability to use slavery or involuntary servitude as a punishment, according to reporting by member station WRKF.
[...]
Louisiana wouldn't be the first state to need multiple tries to pass such a measure. Colorado's first attempt to pass a similar measure in 2016 failed due to unclear language, and voters approved it when asked more clearly in 2018.
[...]

Got a mate who has a small business and 5 properties he rents out to approx 9 people and he's always fucking whinging about costs and struggling as he looks to swap his 2 year old q7 and merc for newer cars, whilst completing a massive extension on his main home.
I find it very difficult to not tell any landlord that they're not cunts. I have friends telling me I should use my money to buy and rent out property but I'd rather be an actual crack whore.
By Laboured Go To PostI find it very difficult to not tell any landlord that they've not cunts. I have friends telling me I should use my money to buy and rent out property but I'd rather be an actual crack whore. My brother wants to rent out our camp to "have our money work for us" and "generate passive income" instead of just letting a cousin stay in it and care take. I have not moved forward with it and doubt I ever will, if possible.
There's no shortage of people who will complain about money while they strive to live up to a certain lifestyle tbh. I'll never be surprised by how many people with tons of properties, investments, doing massive projects on their house and sending their kids to private school are actually treading water or completely under it. Some do fine, some are still loaded but there's also just tons living beyond their means even with good jobs and passive income.
The ban on alcohol consumption seemed to apply only to fans attending games. Beer and other drinks, including an official FIFA Champagne and an array of sommelier-selected wines, will still be available in stadium luxury suites reserved for FIFA officials and other wealthy guests. But of course
Those bribes must've been real good
By Laboured Go To PostOne of the few things socialist Sweden does right, none of these buy to let schemes for personal gains, as far as I know, exist there. Although they do have other housing issues but that is at least not one of them.
