As much as I appreciate that Shakespeare was a top, top writer, the 16th century language is almost foreign to me so I do prefer it when his storys are retold in a more modern way as they do in films like Lion King, West Side Story and Shes The Man
By DiPro Go To Postdo they speak in rhyming trochaic tetrameter in bad boys 2?
If only.
I have gatecrashed the Ku Klux Klan

10 Things I Hate About You GOAT
I think the best Shakespeare adaptations really lean into the artifice - partly why Luhrmann’s R+J is so memorable.
Baz' Romeo and Juliette is fantastic.
Watched it with my siblings Xmas 2020 still holds up.
Harold Perrineau as Mercutio *chef kiss*
John Leguizamo as Tibalt also fantastic.
Shame Leo and Clare allegedly didn't get on behind the scenes 😔

Favourite Shakespeare I’ve seen by far is Throne of Blood and Orson Welles’ Macbeth. Haven’t bothered with the Olivier adaptations and still need to see some modern adaptations like Coriolanus. The Macbeth film with Fassbender was shit
Ran is my favourite. What a fucking movie.
Branagh’s good at it. Hamlet is too long but good. His Othello is great. Much Ado About Nothing is good fun too (and proves Denzel CAN do Shakespeare!)
Haven’t seen Welles’, but Polanski’s Macbeth is very good. Best I’ve seen is a Patrick Stewart TV one.

I haven't seen many Shakespeare adaptations but I enjoyed Kurzel's Macbeth, Ran, Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, 10 Things I Hate About You, the Lion King (1994) and West Side Story (both OG and remake)
Should really get around to watching Throne of Blood, I love Kurosawa.

but aside from that, it's going to take way longer than 3 years to invent a new language on top of having everyone speak it
By domino Go To PostThat article is wild.
By MF Coom Go To PostI swear I've seen a better version of this video but edited to Can't Smile Without You.
But yeah, absolutely love how Del Toro fills his frames with primary colors, then during character interactions or turning point scenes he mixes them or splits the frame or crosses one fill with another color. It's fun rewatching his movies and looking for it.

i know his publicist is crying and throwing up rn
By MF Coom Go To PostMaybe with the colours of Wes Anderson or something. I'm sure there's one out there. It was a Del Toro video. He used Can't Smile Without You in that scene in Hellboy 2 where Abe falls in love so they pulled it from there.
I'd love to see more versions for different directors tho.
By Laboured Go To PostThe only word I don't understand is 'kino'.It's the word of the week type of word.

It will be gone in a month.

Well, he's been acting for a very long time hasn't he. Longerthan his modeling career at this point.
I thought he was like purely in shitty satire films that hardly requires acting, but idk, not really familiar with his acting other than scary movie
I want to see Dune but haven't finished reading the book yet. I just got to the point where
Gurney signs up for smugglers f.c. and then does a guitar solo while a dude dies.
Can I watch without spoiling the rest of the book for myself?
