By Laboured Go To PostOn reflection Eternals is comfortably the worst Marvel movie I've seen but that is not an invitation to start posting lists.
I might even rate mgs4 above it
By Pedja Go To PostThis is the Alice Eve tit thread, please stay on topic.
At least someone is keeping this thread to decent standards of taste and decorum.

By Daz Go To PostWas 16 Blocks Bruce Willis' last good film?
Moonrise Kingdom, Looper both good. Motherless Brooklyn supposed to be decent too.

n8 won’t stand for you calling out Rian Johnson like this
Thinking of it as a shared universe the MCU makes less and less sense as time goes on
Also there is absolutely nothing that will be as bad as Black Widow
Also there is absolutely nothing that will be as bad as Black Widow
It didn't make sense that when Hydra tried to kill millions of people with flying aircraft carriers nobody thought to call on the dude with a flying suit of armour. They said nah let's get a dude with strap on wings, a couple of machine pistols and nothing else and a dude who has to steal his outfit for the job for some reason.
Phase 4 of the MCU, besides two of their TV shows, Loki and WandaVision, has seen a real dip in quality across the board. In general, I thought most movies leading to Endgame were at the very least watchable.
They mostly followed the same formula which always culminated in a CGI fest final act. But there was good chemistry between different cast members and a lot of charisma in RDJ to carry the series as a whole.
But by 2021/22 the formula has just worn thin. Shang Chi has a likeable lead, but the plot was derivative even by Marvel standards and for a Kung Fu movie there was fuck all martial arts combat. The only interesting bit of the movie was the 15 minutes spent in Shanghai at the underground fight area where you could fight monsters and shit. Eternals as said above, was garbage. As was Falcon and Winter Soldier. Nothing much actually happened in Hawkeye either.
At this stage I'm just waiting to see if the Dr Strange movie can redeem the next few years. No Way Home and Loki set the stage for multiverse fuckery and hopefully Jonathan Majors as Kang will actually stick around and become the major antagonist.

By Pedja Go To PostThat Alice Eve scene in Star Trek Into Darkness is completely unnecessary, it's pure titillation…iconic
but it works.
By n8 dogg Go To PostIt was less incompetently shit than Black Widow but thoroughly boring and woodenly acted by everyone.
florence pugh > all of the eternals
By Xpike Go To PostWow they finally did it, they made a good Scream sequel
Scream 2 is pretty good, but yeah 5 is really fun
Gunna see Scream on thursday I think, most of my memory of Scream is actually from Scary Movie....I'm guessing it doesn't really matter much going in?
By DY_nasty Go To PostWas Alice Eve in anything else? I swear I don't remember her ever coming up until Star Trekmany things. nothing big however.
theaters are finally opening up again.
may see spider-man and licorice pizza this week. there's even a 70mm showing nearby for the latter.
interesting.
has anyone seen it or other 35mm films in 70mm?

Licorice Pizza was shot on 35mm film, so this is known as a “blow-up” with the 35mm film being converted to 70mm to make use of the increased image quality of the larger film format. When you book note that not every showing is in 70mm so if you’re going especially to see in that format take care to book a showing listed as 70mm.https://www.forbes.com/sites/bennyhareven/2021/12/31/licorice-pizza-enjoys-limited-70mm-showings-in-new-york-and-london/?sh=1e8b5d4b3451
Anderson is one of a group of auteur filmmakers that appreciated not only filming but 70mm projection, such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan who invariably used the IMAX 70mm film format. Andreson’s previous films Inherent Vice, and Phantom Thread were also shown in 70mm blow-ups. 70mm blow-ups were very popular from the 1970s as the format allowed for better sound quality than was possible with 35mm. However, with the arrival of digital sound formats in the early 1990s such as Dolby Digital and DTS, the need for expensive 70mm film blow-ups waned.
So why do we need 70mm now? Whether 70mm is inherently better than digital is up for debate, and but many prefer the warmer look of the image and claim it offers detail that even 4K digital projection can’t match.
interesting.

By DY_nasty Go To PostWas Alice Eve in anything else? I swear I don't remember her ever coming up until Star TrekShe's out of my League with Jay Barucehel. About where you'd expect both of them to land
Why is Licorice Pizza even releasing in the underwater country before Denmark. This is disgraceful. I am hurt and upset.
I don't feel strongly as Cleff but agree in parts about MCU. But I still dream of a world where MCU just caters to everything all we need is an MCU rom com and horror then we are good.
By n8 dogg Go To PostThe end of Eternals as well, lmaoThey’re mainly aimed at kids. You’re not supposed to think too hard.
this fucking big dude appears in the sky to take gemma chan and no one in hawkeye or spiderman mentioned it? The shared universe shit gets stupider and stupider the bigger it gets. I could believe once that iron man couldn’t intervene when hulk was punching dudes somewhere else in the country. But when you got alien gods appearing in the sky and no one gives a fuck, or multiverses ripping holes in space and no one else caring either, or even hawkeye fighting in new york and Spidey not turning up… the contrivances are too much for me to handle m8s.
matt reeves will save superhero movies
Also wasn’t Spider-Man originally supposed to come out before Eternals and then it got pushed back?
By Old King Rob Go To PostThey’re mainly aimed at kids. You’re not supposed to think too hard.Nah. Eternals was supposed to come out in 2020, Spider Man was always a 2021 release.

the argument they are mostly aimed at kids does not hold water when the majority audience share are men 18-35
Only because some of you weirdos hate watch them all the time. There's so many good films and tv shows out there. Go enjoy that instead of stuff you more likely than not will dislike. Some of these films stink of shit from miles away, nephews.
I was forced to watch a netflix series about cheerleaders last night

Starting to think it’s just FOMO for some people at this point - wanting to feel part of the current cultural zeitgeist that lasts a week or so until the next thing.
once i went down on my gf under the covers in mid july and hallucinated i was climbing the castle from shrek and when she reached climax i saved fiona from the dragon
By Willkiller Go To PostI had sex watching Toy Story, felt a bit weird really. A real loss of innocence moment.Did you have a friend in you?

I’m fortunate my fiancée has very similar taste in movies and music as I do. She gives even less of a shit about Marvel stuff then I do lol big fan of the Harry Potter films though because nostalgia.
I recall the first time we had sex was during Jurassic World being on the television. Awful film

When I said kids, I also included adults with the mental capacity of a kid. The type of people who either don't pay attention to movies and need to go on YouTube afterwards to figure out what a movie meant, or the ones who just don't care what the movie meant and just want to see explosions and overedited action scenes.
