By reilo Go To PostI also think Ben can thrive with the Sixers but these playoffs showed that they'd rather be a culture of blame and fingerpointing. Embiid's leadership skills in how he went about his press conferences is suspect and Doc Rivers is Doc Rivers.Ben has been coddled his entire career dating back to HS. After he signed his max he even said (paraphrasing here) that he's never needed to learn to shoot so why would he now? He got a max based off potential and hasn't done ANYTHING to improve. Shit in 2017 he said hack-a-Ben won't happen anymore.
Ben needs to get his feelings hurt and cry in the car a few times so he will actually want to improve.

Dues already made bags o money. Maybe a change of scenery will matter, but I don’t think getting public heat will matter much tbh
By Kuma Go To PostThe biggest what if in sports is if Sam Hinkie was allowed to build the 76erswe would have taken more centers

The Tatum trade might be one of the all time "skill" fleeces tbh.

No one gets excited over Phoenix because they might win the championship this year but be irrelevant for the next 20 because free agents want to go to the big markets for the nightlife.

By reilo Go To PostI already convinced myself Portland is getting Simmons
Oh, okay. You're psyching yourself up just in case. I don't think Portland is dumb enough, though.
At this point, the only teams who will want Simmons are those desperate for a playmaker.
Even though I don’t want to lose Kyle Lowry, I think he’d be a good fit in Philly if they can get rid of Ben Simmons.

Then they lost interest in that because they couldn't beat San Antonio.
By diehard Go To PostPG finished him off. I knew when he was dropping f-bombs during the timeout at the end of game 2 that he was wrecked. Felt like the playoffs were over then.
Wasn't right even after 2 months so totally understandable

Just saw SAS talking about Simmons being traded to for CJ. Max's eyes lit up like "hell no".
Blazers are my west coast team, and I never want to see Basura Ben on that squad. He needs to be shipped off to a rebuilding team. Have the Wiz or OKC take him. Kemba for Simmons and a bag of chips.

Ben and picks getting traded for CJ if Dame demands a trade
Ben is the Austin Rivers stopper
Realistically the sixers can get Max Barnes and fillers for Ben
Wiggins for Ben is off the table now
You can’t break Ben, he’s already won at life since that max contract, fully guaranteed

I want to parrty hard onBen Simmons but I just realized my team dont have a PG so I going to sit this one out.
By World B. Flat Go To Postrealistically, who wants to trade for simmons? maybe nola or something.I thought the best fit would be GS, he is basically a better version of Draymond
By blackace Go To PostI thought the best fit would be GS, he is basically a better version of Draymondsimmons doesn't do anything better than draymond. only reason they take him in a swap for green is if they think draymond is about to finally fall off. dray's got his flaws, but he's still the main reason they had a top defense despite the roster being a total mess. simmons is never gonna have that kind of impact for a team's defense.

Ben, and Wiggins would be just as effective as Dray and Wiggins and Ben does most things better on the other side of the ball than Dray. Everything besides shooting when open.
The biggest problem with Simmons isn't just that he can't shoot, he isn't even driving to the rim, he can't make free throws, and he is easily shook. It's like a bigger ricky rubio with better defense. That's a lot of money to tie up on a guard driven league with one that can't give you anything but passing on the offensive end.
I doubt anybody is trading for him unless Philly somehow eats some of that money. But just thinking where he fits best.

Everything besides shooting when open.Dray is who made Wiggins a positive defender consistently. Ben isn't gonna elevate him like that.... He doesn't carry defensive responsibility like that for a team. Atlanta came down and just lobbed the ball up with straight line passes half a dozen times last night. Ben isn't helping like Dray is. He's not organizing guys who need it. GS has been able to plug in random bums for years now because of Green.
And Ben can't do shit other than hand off the ball really. Dray can function as a primary handler up to the Finals level. Ben? That shit dies after the first round.

You could actually live without the ranged shooting if he was the most active guy on the floor. He vanishes completely. Forget offball action, he won't even rebound for long stretches.
Even with Draymond you arent getting too far with point Dray and you sure as fuck aren't investing in him for that role, you want him to guard 1-5 and the passing is the bonus and he plays a position and system where you got guys that can make up for him (also dray is not soft mentally).
No one is building their defense around their PG so Ben would have to play a different position which he can do, but it'll be the same issue if he can't develop a shot (or any offensive moves) in time to save his career. Nobody wants rajon rondo for max money

Ben is quiet as fuck on defense, he's a great defender but he can't quarter back a defense like Draymond, Joakim or even Bosh.
ben's defense has to get another 2 levels better before it makes up for how much he fucks up your offensive gameplan
Mike Woodson had a few bad seasons, mostly a shit start in Atlanta where the team improved YoY and then took over midseason in NY with a winning record, followed up with another winning record and then finished 4 games under .500 and then got relegated to being an assistant coach that ended up coaching college
Steve Clifford has a bad season followed by a good season followed by a bad season and his team gets worse YoY in Orlando but he still gets a head coach interview

It took me a handful of tweets to realize this was about the women's game, but at the same time, fuck the Olympics.
....erased a lot of thoughts here, I don't know, I just think that well paid and certainly max contract basketball players should not be wasting their time and risking injury in the Olympics, and we should for goddamn sure not tie national pride to performance in the Olympics. Celebrate the individual, sure, but then it leads to shit like "that person is American and beat the other person who is Chinese!" Like, what? Is that all it takes? If the non-American would have won, you would have been angry?
I don't know. I hate the Olympics in general because it allows non-sports fans to pretend to care once every four years while also dominating the airwaves, and I hate other annual sporting events for very similar reasons (Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, etc.), but the Olympics especially seem to just exploit nationality (and race) over anything else.
Fuck the Olympics. And the NBA should just say hell no, and if the USA loses, who gives the first fuck.
Sports fandom in general is heavily tied to where you are from, why is country of origin being a reason so strange? Aren't you kind of selectively applying logic to something that isn't very logical to begin with?
Since you mention it, having to root for the "home team" also strikes me as rather moronic. "I was born here, I guess I have to pull for these bunch of fucks!" But when you bring nationality into it, I just can't. I'm over it. The last 20+ years of my life have thoroughly beaten it out of me, I could not give even one fuck about nationality. I'm not a "patriot" and do not give one single shit. We're all born on one earth, some of us born into more unearned privilege than others.
