First sneakers I remember being in high demand in my day were the Nike Sampras line. Everyone wanted those. I remember some kids at school got some well made knock-offs even. The Ewings that came with a little basketball were very popular too.

Blockbuster was always overpriced and had terrible selection around here. Movie Gallery wasn't much better, but it was a lot cheaper and Hollywood Video had a better games selection.
The best Blockbuster was during the beginning of its steep decline, around the 360 launch era (fair to say the timing here in the third world was different than in the us). I had a friend who used to work at BB and she would phone me when people just traded in new games or brand new stock that was only opened and subsequently marked as used went on clearance. It was great to have first pick on cool inventory at discount prices.
