You need a house asap in another state and all the rentals are like "fuck your pets", possibly.
Also legit helps even after a visit if you're visiting tons of homes. Homes can all blend together if you're on a trip for a week, seeing 3 homes a day. You can go back and look at stuff.

I rented a place twice from photos. Well one of the times my mom actually went to check it out for me, and said it was decent (i was living quite far away both times). Both turned out pretty decent.

True story, the first house I bought was during a time period where 50 or more offers (above market value) came within minutes of listing the house. Rates and prices were low post great recession and then there was the 8k tax credit for buying.
It was crazy. Banks at the time dgaf, about total offer. They wanted as much cash as possible. Really tough market for first time home buyers
The first hiuse I bought, I placed an offer on before it hit the market and without even seeing it.
