By LabouredPatriot Go To PostMy tried and trusted. Messy inboxes (quiet you) make my brain scream.I don't keep more than half a dozen emails in my work inbox. Sometimes I achieve nirvana and my work inbox has no emails in it for like 12 hours.
I just have folders and read then mark unread if I have to get back to it or set a reminder when it isn't urgent. I hate seeing that an email is unread so it forces me to go back to it.
Also there's nothing worse, absolutely nothing worse, than using something like Google Drive for living documentation. Whether that's spreadsheets or a word document. It's absolutely useless in finding things shared with you and absolutely terrible at letting you know where/when/who made changes.
And so many stakeholders in my current and prior job love using it but it's a terrible collaborative tool.

By diehard Go To PostBut there are so many tools to help with things like this, even just basic email functions like moving them into a different folder, using categories or simply flagging the email. It was easier to just print the email, reach over to my right and grab it so I never bothered with all that.
My inbox never got over like 15 emails since I had a bajillion filters setup
By batong_nr1_rangers_fan Go To PostWe have one or two google spreadsheets - if it goes above five I'm quitting. The people I report to use spreadsheets for ALL the wrong things: milestone planning, business requirements gathering, process mapping/flowcharts, weekly data analytics/metrics, etc. and they are ALL living documents.
The software industry solved this shit decades ago. None of them follow a standard, every stakeholder writes it up adhoc to their best guess, and it changes daily in how it looks and functions.
IMO, spreadsheets should be used for presentations or one-time calculations. They are terrible living documents.

By DiPro Go To Posti went back and he jammed the fucking shredder.
couldn't do anything after that but didn't tell anyone.
i used a knife and umjammed it in 10 seconds.
3 folders done 197 to go.

It was easier for me 🤷🏿‍♂️
I always taught our new hires to do the alerts and all that though
But personally it wasn’t how I liked to chop through my work
By aka Espi Go To PostYou have to try to jam a residential shredder so a business shredder? This dude doesn’t want to work at all and he’s trying to waste as much time as possible.
I don't know about the shredder tech but it's more like a Series S of shredders than a X for sure. And yes he's lazy but i genuinely think he couldn't go much faster if he wanted to.
I just did a timed speed run and it took me 6 minutes for an entire folder and i wrote the post above during it.
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostSeems like this lad does not have a promising career in shredding ahead of him.Sounds like Dipro does though
By domino Go To Posti usually printed any emails that actually required a reply otherwise i'd forget to do it.
also yeah its just much easier to look at a sheet of paper than a screen.
get a sticky note pad
write "answer yyy email at xxx", yyy standing for the email, xxx standing for when you gotta answer it
put the sticky note near your pc or workspace where you know you'll see them
i just saved you printing a bunch of paper

By FortuneFaded Go To PostSounds like Dipro does thoughIt's nice to have a backup plan
It feels like so much more effort to go through every email, print it, then walk over to the printer to grab it, then organize said printed emails on your desk.
By /bacon Go To PostBet domino has written down all his passwords on a sticky note and stuck it to his monitorlol my aunts and uncles have shit written down everywhere in their house.

there was an old lady at one of my previous jobs who wrote down the pincode for a label printer which she then plastered on the wall.
the pincode was...
0000.
Work stuff I kept on the computer. But personal stuff I print out all of the time.
Not even sure how dipro's work needs so much shredding done and doesn't just have a service for that shit.
Intern rightfully noticed y'all suss.

would definitely print out reports and certain emails. spreadsheets and stuff stayed digital but there's always value to pen and paper work

We could hire a service but it has been dead for a while so why not let him do it? Service would cost more than his monthly salary. Everyone helping out during difficult times. It's an apprentice not an intern btw.
By sy Go To Postworking for dipro sounds like hell. I'd reconsider if i were you, pennyI just create some fake Nintendo rumors, so he's occupied for the day.
Also Swiss wages sy.
