I forget my nephew is 12 sometimes cause of how big he is, but last night he reminded me that he's still just a big kid. We're out in the boonies in PA and my boy was born and raised in East Harlem, so he's a city kid through and through. He came down to the living room after going to bed and said to my sister "Mommy there's a very strange smell in my bed, like the elevator when we go to see grandma" his great grandmother lives in the projects (his father's grandmother). I go to his room to check and it turns out that they have a window fan and the strange smell was a skunk. He had never smelled one before and was real concerned he had Covid or that someone did something to his bed 😂

I have so little memory of airports pre 9/11. I flew a fair bit when I was <10, but even then not a lot sticks out in my mind. I do remember being able to wave people off a lot easier.
Can you still see the runways at the Heathrow terminals other than 5? I like to go when my cousins visit from the States but 5 barely even feels like you're in an airport once you reach the car park.
Only flown once and that was in 2000. All I remember is the running of the plane being surprisingly loud having only known flights from TV and film, and being stuck on the runway for four hours and back in the terminal for another four while they sorted out whatever was wrong.
Will hopefully be flying to Annecy at some point in the near future, bollocks to driving that again as much as I love the place.

TSA people usually all seem miserable, but the US ones are the most cunty of them all. I get it, your job sucks, but come on lad. Even the smallest things get them pissy, like when I accidentally put my left finger up first (instead of right finger) for finger print scans, that they apparently demand to enter. Couldnt even stop himself from again making some comment about me learning my left from right when I was finally done with it lmao

US Airports themselves are shit too, for every one I’ve been to. The entire experience of flying in or out of one of them is grim.
Never had a bad experience with TSA folks tbh. Had way more trouble with American border guards when traveling alongside relatives on tourist visas with shitty passports.

Entry and exit into the US was the smoothest i've ever experienced tbh. Even when we landed in Chicago and a Greek American was checking our passports, i was expecting the usual fuckery after he saw my name. Nope, dude was like "bro are your parents from Turkey or Cyprus? Oh shit Cyprus? Where? Pathos? Mine too! Have a good trip!"
Getting TSA-Pre is a life changer. Those TSA agents that work pre are much more relaxed caused they know everyone walking through is vetted and there's way less steps they need to take.
