are all mormons great public speakers?
By diehard Go To PostThey backed off the Mark of Cain thing a while ago. You actually baptize all the deceased, not just your ancestors.Wasn't there a professor at BYU, think his name was Bott, who still preaching that nonsense?
I mean, what is even the point if you can't?
I mean how do you distance yourself from something that you claimed was an important part of your doctrine? Did the war in heaven stop? Or did God just change his mind about dark? Or did the church just flatout admit they were wrong?
By Xpike Go To Posthttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/dec/21/mormons-holocaust-victims-baptism-lds-churchDespite God's specific instructions to leave Cain alone😂
i also dont know if they since erased this part, but their whole thing initially was also that any non-whites were essentially descendants of the bad guys in the Bible and therefore it was a God given right for whites to conquer America back
they were also super homophobic before but i think they retconned that recently once they realized it wasnt good PR
By blackace Go To PostWasn't there a professor at BYU, think his name was Bott, who still preaching that nonsense?Probably. That wouldn't surprise me.
By blackace Go To PostI mean how do you distance yourself from something that you claimed was an important part of your doctrine? Did the war in heaven stop? Or did God just change his mind about dark? Or did the church just flatout admit they were wrong?Mormons believe all change comes from revelation and the passed down from the Prophet. The official word would be something along the lines of "It was time to change" etc etc. Most of the time the why is left to speculation.
Sure, it's time to change, and boom you change the rules.
But how do you change the fundamental teachings?

By blackace Go To PostSure, it's time to change, and boom you change the rules.Honestly I'm not really sure i would classify that as one of the fundamental teachings.

By blackace Go To PostDid they remove Nephi from the book of Mormon or something?Sorry i must have been confused on what you were referencing. Mormon and the Nephites/Lamanites are fundamental to the religion but I don't think the mark of cain and it's meaning ever really were.

Not on purpose apparently, but these teachings are definitely solidly a part of Mormon beliefs.
Being a Mormon doesn't make you racist or anything. But, I find it hard to deny that racist, basically white supremacist ideas in the creation of different skin tones are not fundamentally a part of the religion. The concepts were there since the start.

They're having zoom meetings and shit, talking about their favorite moments and similar things.

By blackace Go To PostEven in 2020, Lamanites being cursed with dark skin so they wouldn't mix with the Nephites has found its way into official church literature. There are absolutely some racist things things in the Church's past, and a lot of incongruencies as well (Joseph Smith baptized black people and was a staunch absolutionist, Brigham Young was racist as hell).

To be clear, I still do consider myself Mormon but I am not active, and when I did go to church I didn't pay attention very well. You could say I'm "culturally Mormon" or something.

It is not an attack on Mormonism or Mormons, just a fact. I really believe it should be addressed better than it has been, but it's working for them I guess

There's an ad on TV for a prescription for treating HIV.
I kinda feel like if you have HIV you are going to find out your options without an advertisement, this isn't exactly a "Oh they have a treatment for that?" type disease.

Mrs. Brown's Boys is a television sitcom created by Brendan O'Carroll and produced in the United Kingdom by BBC Scotland in partnership with BocPix and Irish broadcaster RTÉ.
O'Carroll stars as his drag persona, Agnes Brown, with several close friends and family members making up the rest of the cast. The show adopts an informal production style where production mistakes and tomfoolery, mostly instigated by O'Carroll, are edited into each episode. Despite being lambasted by critics, the show has become a ratings success

"After Paul's ear was sent, his grandfather agreed to pay no more than $2.2 million (equivalent to $12.7 million in 2019)—the maximum amount that was tax deductible—and lent the remainder to his son, who was responsible for repaying the sum at four percent interest. Paul was found alive on December 15, 1973, in a petrol station of Lauria in the province of Potenza shortly after the ransom was paid. At his mother's suggestion, he called his grandfather to thank him for paying the ransom, but J. Paul Getty refused to come to the phone"
