I still have my old ipod classic filled to the brim with ~2012+ era bombcasts. It's sometimes fun listening back to old reactions or speculation on stuff.
edit: actually, I have some as old as 2009... geez, has it been that long?

It died a few mini deaths over the years.
Ryan dying was a huge one, sale to CBS was one, the east/west split was another, Dan leaving, Covid and finally this kills it for good. Sad shit, I do think it had run its course though, but man, I've spent so many hours...so many fucking hours listening to those guys. Really does feel like the end of an era.

Ben arriving legit killed the West coast stuff for me, as harsh as that sounds. He immediately became a core member of thier output, and it was basically all bad.

Not gonna lie, Brad and Vinny announcement kind of sting me alot
Giantbomb and these people have been a staple consistent thing in my life so now the Hotspot days, while I didn’t renew my subscription, I still tune in every podcast and quicklook
Man don’t wanna be sentimental, I’ll leave it at; end of an era

I stopped subbing after two minutes of listening to Dan Ryckert. Not only was he annoying af, he brought Jeff down to a terrible level.
Was more disappointed when VideogamerUK went to shit personally, since that was really sudden. Still really like their podcast, but they used to be good for a video worth watching more or less every day.
By post-sy Go To Postgiant bomb trash just like every other videogame site
Honestly....barely a videogame site
By Hitch Go To PostI'm locked in til SeptemberI'm still locked in until December, just cancelled it. I dunno what the plans are there but the only premium content in the last year that's been worth watching has had Vinny on it so there's no reason for me to stay subscribed.

Their podcasts is the only video game podcast I listen to and I subscribe to 20+ podcasts
Man this hurts

Never been hugely into Giant Bomb, just an occasional podcast listener. I'm sure they'll all land on their feet. :bigbosssalute:

I listened/watched/read pretty regularly till Ryan died. After that the podcast slowly fell apart then basically everything else followed. Haven’t looked at any of their stuff in like 3 years.
I've been listening to GB every Tuesday since the days of Arrow Pointing Down and Ryan drinking Gatorade Tiger. I've genuinely never liked any other video game podcasts or websites. Even though I've felt like this day was coming eventually (their content over the lock down has slowed down a lot plus the Red Ventures buyout), it still feels bad.
Reckon the site's getting rolled into GameSpot or something at this point. It's just Jeff, Jason, Jan and Bakalar now.

Basically 6 months since RV bought CNET, seems like they were waiting out their contracts.
Genuinely saddened by the news, doesn't really matter that the quality of their content isn't as good as the years with Ryan, or Dan. Basically been listening to the same people talk about games for 15+ years. Will be sad to see it go

why did they stop reviewing games? I feel like that's a decent amount of exposure with releases
they can't keep handing him Ws like this

By Hitch Go To PostBakalar isn't even part of GB afaik, he oversees them and GamespotNo, but he's the only other one that still regularly appears on the podcasts.
My sub runs for another year anyway, so I guess I just have to wait and see what happens. Jeff seems optimisitc about the site, but not sure that it'll mean nearly the same thing to me with three of the four originals gone.
Haven't given a shit about GB since they split Vinny and Jeff. That was their only money pairing after Ryan passed.
By Smokey Go To PostMight cancel my covid vaccine if getting it means I have to like that green controller
just got the Pulse Red and Electric Volt colors
shout out to Phil for sending these to me

By LabouredPatriot Go To PostThis the one they have a 'rebuild road-map' ready for because the game is in a shit state and they know it? 20 million first week.
As we noted last month, Blizzard continues to lose monthly active users across all of its titles; it’s now lost 11M players in the last three years, or 29% as measured by Blizzard’s own preferred monthly active user count. Two million of those dried up just since Q4 2020. Brutal.
