I've decided to go back to studying and been checking on getting a certification for cybersecurity but I wanted to know if y'all think this is a good idea or if the area is getting a bit cluttered

fucking hell no one is forced to work at amazon lol.... being forced to use their services is entirely different though

By Xpike Go To PostI don't think anyone wants to, more like our economic system forces them toHa, I was recommended to get CISA and CISSP certs. Apparently those + knowing Python can get you an ez $120K job. Take it with a massive grain of salt though.

I would imagine that as the world progresses, cybersecurity and IT auditing will only become more and more lucrative and necessary.

although like any other career i imagine every other person is getting that advice, i remember a few years ago the whole thing was to be CISCO certified now apparently there's a huge surplus

By reilo Go To PostIs that good or bad?

Bad, but I can't complain too fucking much because of the pay bump lol...
I genuinely like one of my counterparts. At the same time he's not giving me full dialogues to horde information and events.

People at my job think my name is Richard
I have no idea why cuz I’ve never told anyone that but I let them think it is

Hard to focus at work this week. Thanksgiving is next week, I just want my turkey and dressing, it’s been a long year and I feel burned out, etc…
Plus by the time I get off work the sun is already going down.

it's a pretty common term here but we have many such words or acronyms that means nothing to actual english speakers.
handy = mobile phone
beamer = projector
oldtimer = classic car
public viewing = public screening of sports events
homeoffice = work from home
flipper = pinball machine
for example

Probably should’t use that amongst english speakers.

Hey all seriously considering taking a career change into something I've all loved doing and that messing with IT infrastructure and finding exploits in networks. I can see that Cyber security is a growing industry here in the Cayman Islands so I want to get my foot in now. I have a BBA major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. I have have working the field of compliance from both the regulators side and the private side. the financial services industry regulator recently added requirements for cypersecurity tests on regulated entities. Was wondering of any certs you guys would recommend me taking? I have the networking connections to get contracts just looking for a little initial guidance. Any advice is appreciated as this will be a major life change from me being unhappy to doing what I actually enjoy and being my own boss.

By Kibner Go To PostI read elsewhere that Security+ is a good one to start with.Thanks Kibs I'll check it out

A week or two ago, someone told me that with CISA and CISSP certs + Python knowledge, I could get a job making $120k. I haven't done much research though - I'm headed in a different direction right now. I think CISA would be pretty easy for you, Lunatic, since you've already done the compliance stuff, but maybe I'm misunderstanding the differences between auditing and compliance.

Compliance is preventing those things from happening in the first place.

Is everyone here in IT?
So far the new job is at a much slower pace than my old one and the office environment is much chiller.
