Support your Duke Bois dy
he might be a bust but if not, best to have him locked up... can't be worse than willie hermangomez
My boy Vernon is getting the bag.
I wonder how he'll actually do, though. Some of those shots he was making at Duke were kind of like bullshit you pull out of your ass but won't happen in the NBA. On the other hand, K was treating him like Cal did KAT, having him play and develop almost exclusively on the inside, while he allegedly had more of a perimeter element to his game during high school.

By Pac-12 Go To PostMy boy Vernon is getting the bag.the kid lost 30 lbs between his last college game and his predraft workouts too. there's guys who have full training staffs on call that don't accomplish that and he was doing it on his own initiative during the most fukkery filled year of his life.

By diehard Go To Posthas anyone actually seen Udoka Azubuike play?
I think I saw him as a junior. Not sure how he fits in the modern NBA if someone like Capella isn't useful for Houston.
David Griffin: “People unfairly look at Zion as a big or a 4/5. We very much envision a time where Zion will be playing the 3 and defending the 3.”
Kibbles plz
By Adam Go To PostKibbles plzHe drops to 250 and it's maybe feasible.
Just like Ingram getting to 250 so he can play the four.
something something lateral quickness
I don't understand what the benefit is of playing him at the three. You're facing teams who are playing more wings and playing smaller. Having Zion at the three means you're likely going to have two bigger and probably slower players on court, trying to switch and cover guys much quicker than them. It's not 1999 where the Spurs trotted out a frontcourt of Duncan, Robinson and Purdue at times and won a ring because everyone wanted to play big.
Maybe I just don't get it.

By pilonv1 Go To Postsomething something lateral quicknessI can only assume a lot of coaches and GMs in the league are stubborn to the point of blindness when they think going huge is a workable strategy in today's NBA.

I think staffs just can't stop themselves. They see some huge guy covering a lot of ground and forget it's asking for injury. KP is still fucked up from the Knicks falling in love with the exact same thinking.
I think if you can dominate the boards and protect the rim with two bigs then you’ll put a lot of pressure on the offense to hit deep shots. I tend to think that’s easier than trying to switch everything and having holes everywhere. However one of the two bigs needs to be able to shoot so floor spacing isn’t awful on offense.
Zion at the 3 is asking him to get hurt. That's not a match for his body or skill set. He'll also have to deal with two slower dudes clogging up the offense.
He already had a knee surgery and was taking games off all season when he'd been ironman status the majority of his career...
