Man, so many twitter randoms are like "y pels take another guard?!?!". Did you not see last season that Ingram and Jrue were the only guys who could get to the rim from the perimeter and create for others? And only Bledsoe out of the two guys they got in the Jrue trade can also do that?
It's like people blindly think anyone listed as a guard or point guard is able to actually fulfill a point guard's role int he modern NBA.

He helped Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton take flight last season in Phoenix; the Suns were plus-7.6-per-100 when the trio played together, and got outscored in the minutes that Booker and Ayton played without Rubio. Now, the 30-year-old Spaniard will be asked to do the same for Russell, Towns, and Edwards in his return to the team that drafted him.I haven't been able to post about Ricky Rubio plus minus numbers in three years. So excited for this.
By joefu Go To PostDang, Rubio is only 30? Feels like he's been in the league forever. He's been in the spotlight since he was a kid. Dude was only 17 in that Olympics run that put him on the map. At 30, he's the exact kind of veteran they need, where he can still play at a high level and help bring along the younger players.
Who are all these power forwards that the Knicks have? Randle is the only one still on the roster and he should be getting traded soon. Oh and...
Let's fucking go!
Let's fucking go!

By rodeoclown Go To PostUgh, not the Achilles. Nobody comes back from that the same.Shitty news but I mean, it's not like Klay depended on his athleticism before. Also, achilles tears in recent years haven't been nearly as devastating. Rudy Gay, Wes Matthews etc
will GS once again shut the entire season down after one of their stars gets hurt? how long before steph is out indefinitely or draymond "isn't focused this year".

jay williams was already on first take this morning talking about the possible increase of injury for steph, now that he's going to be forced to "do more". A "turned ankle away from golden state being in the exact spot they were last year".
pathetic

By unknown Go To PostDam I wanted to see how Warriors would look.Same. Wanted to watch them play the Lakers at least.
Obi is weird man, he moves on the court like he's wearing a Victorian coreset. He doesnt look like he should be good at sports at all but then he busts out a between the legs windmill in traffic...
Awful news for Klay. He's 31, back-to-back ACL and achilles injuries? He's a GOAT-level shooter but man that could be the end of his career.
By sy Go To PostShitty news but I mean, it's not like Klay depended on his athleticism before. Also, achilles tears in recent years haven't been nearly as devastating. Rudy Gay, Wes Matthews etcWes Mathews regressed hard after his achilles and his defense was nowhere near effective as before and his offensive game went to shit. Wesley was also 3 years younger at the time of his injury.
I think in the last couple years, Wes Matthews is as good as he's ever been defensively, which is decent. His shot is worse but eh, he was never amazing.
iirc Rudy was about Klay's age when he fucked his shit up and he's been the most effective he's ever been after recovering.
I think Klay will be fine, especially in today' league.

Rudy Gay is way more of an exception, though.
And clearly, the obvious thing here is: it's not just an achilles injury. It's an achilles injury after an ACL injury. That's really difficult. He'll be two+ years removed from playing basketball by the time he returns.
While Rosas said he ultimately viewed Edwards as “head and shoulders” above the rest of the class, the Georgia product took matters into his own hands during his predraft workout with the Wolves. His trainer walked him through the shooting portion of his routine in the middle of the workout, including multiple long 2-pointers and midrange jumpers. After he was done, Edwards told him to take those shots out of the workout because the analytics-minded Wolves wouldn’t want him taking too many of them.I've always said that Edwards has a very high basketball IQ.
By DY_nasty Go To Postedwards already protecting his stats lolThink the Wolves are going to do that for him anyway. They're not going to ask him to create much. Which I think should be good for his development after how badly they botched Wiggins.
