By blackace Go To PostI didn't want to say it.At the time, there were questions if Harden could even start and keep the same production.
You should always pick the best player, unless their impacts are so close then I say take the big.
That being said James was pretty damn good and I can't see someone thinking Ibaka was going to turn into Cweb

Guards grow on trees. A quality big? You cherish that motherfucker.
Harden was playing 31 mins per game, and had an ortg of like 125

Also why the fuck are people crying about Pelinka. He literally starts with a +100 advantage simply by being GM of the Lakers and he still fucked your team for half a decade before Lebron saved his ass. Like is it supposed to be hard to trade all your assets for a superstar when he literally demands it
Bob Myers should have won for engineering high lottery pick that will turn into Giannis and saving a year of wear and tear on Steph. Absolute light years
Presti should have probably won EOTY, dude set his franchise up for success long term and still somehow had a great season.
I think Adams and CP3 get traded before the season starts. Adams has kind of maxed out and he moves like he is mud. I can see him being a capable big off the bench for spot minutes on a playoff team though.
I think part of the reason fans are saying Pelinka got hosed is because there is a lot of rewriting of the offseason going on. Most people are saying "They have LeBron and AD, they are supposed to be here," but that wasn't the consensus after free agency. Lot of "experts" had them as a low seed and gave them a small, if any, chance to go to the finals. They criticized the roster construction that was made up of cast offs and washed up vets. They criticized bringing in Dwight after Boogie went down. I digress though.
Hell, the San Diego Padres fans held a parade, in a pandemic, after winning a 3 game series.

By reilo Go To PostI love giving out awards to executives for things they might potentially do four seasons from now!I agree that Executive of the Year shouldn't be an award.
Pelinka was criticized because he gave up a ton and couldn't even get a long-term commitment out of AD lol. This laker underdog story is one for the ages.

This laker underdog story is one for the ages. Not even saying they are underdogs or we defied all odds, just stating what the consensus was after free agency. Shit, look in the off season thread here for more of the same.
Also: No one believed in us, against all odds.
By reilo Go To PostI love giving out awards to executives for things they might potentially do four seasons from now!Understandably it's silly to project into the future but with the way they are set up they should be able to make some moves and improve reasonably fast.
ehhhh
idk, if this Lakers team was following standard trends of traditional backup center while forcing AD to start at center all year, along with say, Lue as coach, I'm not sure if they chip. The Javale, Dwight, AD trio was swerving left while everyone else was going right, and Vogel's defensive coaching are just things nobody would have really went with imo, but it's turned out to be a large reason why the Lakers have dusted a lot of these playoff teams.

This is supposed to be a good article: https://theundefeated.com/features/erik-spoelstra-and-the-lack-of-asian-coaches-in-the-nba/, though I haven't read it, yet.
Tilman Fertitta sure sucks.
And Mr. Trump was not one to forget a deal, a club member or a business partner.
When he summoned restaurant executives to the White House in May to discuss the pandemic, they included Tilman Fertitta, a billionaire who had once operated a Rainforest Cafe in a Trump casino. Mr. Fertitta complained that bad publicity had forced him to return millions of dollars in federal aid intended to help strapped small businesses, according to a White House transcript. He asked that the administration create a second fund “for the larger private restaurateur.”
No such fund would materialize, but Mr. Trump turned to his treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin. “Steve, what do you think about that?” he asked.
When Mr. Mnuchin was noncommittal, Mr. Trump praised Mr. Fertitta. “You’ve paid me rent for a long time,” he said, adding that Mr. Fertitta had never missed a payment.
“Steve,” he said, “it’s an interesting case. OK? Do the best you can.”
By Branduil Go To PostAre these really the best candidates still available? If you want a coach with a known name, yeah.
By Branduil Go To PostAre these really the best candidates still available?
Better to fail with a name than fail with a whodafuk.
Also there's surely much better candidates who are probably happier being an assistant coach without the drama of being a HC.
By Kibner Go To PostStill no leaks about who they have even interviewed:I assume they are interviewing online via zoom or whatever and that makes it easier to keep a lid on things.

yeah if I was a team looking for a franchise savior from this draft I would be mad as fuck.
I do think there is some talent but your GM/Scouts have to be really really good to pick them.
Ball COULD be good. Or he could be MCW with a loud dad.
Edwards legit said "i was ass at times this year but fuck it"...so no.
Wisemen barely played and its hard to take centers if they can't defend in space.
Toppin is slow laterally and could have benefited from being a grown ass man among boys.
Hayes is slow and can't go right.
Deni reeks of NBA teams trying to find the Next ____. In this case Luka...that never works out (see the next TMacs, The next AIs. Or the next Dirks)
I like Vassell, I think Haliburton is going to be solid. I think RJ Hampton has some potential as well. But no one I'd stake my life on being great.
