By DY_nasty Go To PostI've got a much bigger problem with the gameplay than anything else :/
It was basic, boring and lifeless.

it's easy to shit on a game's visuals before release, but you have to remember that it's still in development.
this game is, too... but then you realise it's less than four months away. it looks really disappointing and i'm seeing tons of vegetation pop-in etc.
wonder how recent this build is and how much they can improve on it in these coming months.
By DY_nasty Go To PostYou'd think that after all that build up you'd be fighting around something with some scale and in a much more dynamic layout in general. Kill a scarab, show off something new, cover some real groundThe pre-show halo hype did not help their cause.
not…. that
Overall, the show was fine, all over the place - lots of early 360 era vibes of dudebro shooters, but also weird attempts at whimsy.
Staggering lack of gameplay, in fact the game with the best gameplay showing was Destiny.
Halo gameplay looked good. My guess is they want to show the general moment to moment dynacism of the regular combat. Scarabs and bosses and vehicle combat will come. Chief literally just cleared one camp of standard enemies.
The movement and gunplay looked decent. Grappling hook feels sorta tacked on, but we'll see.
Most concerning to me is not so much the graphics per se, but the fact they're trying to make an open world Halo game run on theOG Xbox One at 60fps. Ain't enough upscaling and dynamic lighting in the world gonna hide those textures.
Their press junkets after the show tell me this game is coming in super hot.

Throwing that big ass glowing barrel at the turret was ok but not much else.

It's quick, noticed you can finally shoot the legs of Brutes and Elites to stagger them, and the weapons seem decent. Shotguns were punchy, pistol looks useful. Has the Halo sandbox feel to it.
The movement and gunplay looked solid, which is the most important thing. Placing all that in the context of an open world though...
Nah, I don't think it'll work. That's not what Halo pacing is.
Why should I care that something on the other side of the ring is rendered?
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthey tried to hide the fact that they have issues with shadows for enemies.
They've done an absolutely incredible job with Halo 3: MCC version for Series X
halo finally getting kneecapping and box throwing in 2020 is not gonna stand it up against the shooters that are out now
I feel bad saying it but Halo really did look like trash. Looked like some independent developer made it. The AI was braindead as fuck. Doesn't help that it was ugly from a graphical standpoint.
good thing smokey went horseback riding instead of sticking around for this. must be incredibly nourishing for the soul with all that's going on in the world right now
By bud Go To Postthis game is being rushed.Rushed!?
the fact that ray-tracing will be patched in post-launch says it all.
It's just staggering how little gameplay there was and what gameplay we saw definitely didn't look like it belonged to the more powerful console coming out.
more gameplay here and honestly.... the worse it looks
if you're gonna be grounded, you need weight. everything about this grappling hook thing is just off. there's no impact, no swing, no momentum. its so clearly tacked on that its kinda wild
It's crossgen targeting performance instead of visuals on the lowest spec, probably moved to open world late in development, and being rushed to launch.
The Series X only games aren't close to ready going by the amount of CGI trailers. If your answer to this is they should've delayed the XSX launch for next year then, you are probably right.

Xbox is in a rough spot tbh, they really should’ve had a different studio handle the Xbox one version
Only thing that’ll sell are Xbox one s if people want halo since it’s all cross gen
PS5 will legit give away downloadable codes for the last of us 2 x ghosts with their digital only console to show the speed and BC features
Halo looked like halo gameplay wise but those graphics, yikes

By reilo Go To PostI cannnot unsee Cabal when I see BanishedI said this during the reveal, they land in pods and use jetpacks and everything.
Making Xbox live free x gamepass will only save the next Xbox and that’s a huge gamble since live makes Microsoft $$$$$

That Obisidian Skyrim game got listed the OG X1 on their homepage, while it's different on the store. That game looked still off like 2022. That would be really rough.
By bud Go To Postoops, forgot that i was signed into both of my accounts.one day reilo will realize we are all wooden
sorry, lads.
By Sonyic Go To PostThis shit we saw today was definitely rebooted within the last 12-18 months.
they pitched this 2 years ago and they delivered this today lmao.
When MS told them to copy Bungie, I don't think they meant Destiny 1 😂

By Pennywise Go To PostThe big question is what games are XSX only.Yeah, idk. I'm sure someone will compile a spreadsheet of which is which.
