By Perfect Blue Go To PostTrying to shoehorn sabermetrics into football really is the fucking worst
Hard disagree. Think xG has proven itβs fairly valuable, even when accounting for the more randomised elements of football.
After collecting only 1 point from a possible 15, Nazio finally decide to wake up. Well, it's too fucking late.
United POTY is between: Rashford, Martial, Fred or Fernandes for me.
Fred and Rashford were key in the period pre Fernandes. Rashford before his injury was carrying us in attack. Still don't think hes played the same since his injury.

By Laboured Go To PostThe AWB talk earlier was funny to me because most of youse were saying he or Fred was our player of the season pre-lockdown.I've no problems with AWB. Still the best defensive back in the league, his attacking game has progressed. Needs to get better on the ball during transitions.

Bruno > Martial > Rashford > AWB > Fred > Maguire.
Someone does however need to compile the number of headed sitters Maguire has missed this season.

Injured a lot, got 20+ goals each. Inconsistent, yes, but still absolute match winners a lot of the time.
By Hitch Go To PostIs AWB actually the best defensive fullback in the league, or just the best tackler?
Mm, his positioning isnβt wonderful sometimes.
By Hitch Go To PostIs AWB actually the best defensive fullback in the league, or just the best tackler?
Best tackler yes, although I would argue in the modern game, given the amount of space a FB has to cover (and therefore cannot just rely on being positionally sound or sitting back), being a good tackler is probably the most important defensive attribute for a modern FB.
Wonder how Trent will be implemented into the England team. To get the best out of him would require a decent shift in the way we play, one that might not be possible with the options available and the lack of time on the training ground .
Chilwell should be able to do a decent Robertson impression in terms of making himself available for the big switches, and Henderson should be able to replicate his performances, though it hasn't quite happened yet for England.
Would require a proper DM who doesn't get caught upfield or too wide when both fullbacks attack and it breaks down. We've basically got a square of players who allow everyone else to attack.
Question whether Maguire is quick enough to cover those acres of space, and whether Rice is smart enough right now to do the same job ahead of him.
Got a full year to sort that out and see how Rice progresses, would be a huge waste to decide that we can't put up with his less than elite defensive ability, and end up with AWB or James playing there.

Remember when we lost on pelanties and Mou said it doesn't count as a loss because it was a draw after normal time?
By Laboured Go To PostIt's very Mourinho-esque to keep claiming you won long after you lost.

My feeling is England now have to play what is essentially 4-2-3-1 to fit in its best attacking talent. Surely it has to now be Rash - Kane - Sancho with Sterling behind them filling in space centrally and on both flanks.
Think you can still mitigate Maguire's pace with the speed of say Gomez next to him. Think Rice is still improving.
It's difficult for me to decide on a player of the season for Chelsea.
I'm tempted to say Mount since he's been he's been there most of the season and has mostly performed well. Pulisic, Kovacic, Willian, Abraham and Giroud have all been good too, but that has mostly been in patches.
There also isn't a transformative or standout player in the squad ala De Bruyne or Fernandes, which makes it trickier to decide.

By inky Go To PostLingard as #10
Hope to God that Southgate isn't too loyal to players who did well for him over two years ago. Walker needs phasing out unless we intend to try three at the back again, Pickford needs replacing, and Lingard needs to be playing for Yeovil or some shit.

Incredible.

If he's still living off that one save in the World Cup, then there is no god. Think Lingard is done, Walker might make it depending on injuries.
Think they might have to start including Foden and Greenwood into those England plans if they kick on again next year.

Ya, also ignores they spent a cool Β£60ish million on Pulisic which was made in the knowledge of both the transfer ban and Hazard leaving.
All true and that original tweet from the dude prodding United fans is a bellend. Blue check mark banter is the worst
After a long time away I am back like a bad smell. And the funk that brought me here is Swansea actually having a chance of getting back into the premier league. What a goal by Ayew.
