I wonder what the default American accent is to other countries since we have so much regional variety.

In my experience, a valley accent or a NY accent feels the most 'murican. Things you see very often on TV and sitcoms. Thicker accents like the Souther or New Joisey almost feel played up for effect (not saying they are ofc).

By sy Go To Postalways thought the default was just "neutral" american. Like Damen Lewis on Homeland. That seems to be it. When most actors try to do a specific regional accents it usually doesn't work so well
By sy Go To Postalways thought the default was just "neutral" american. Like Damen Lewis on Homeland.Yes this is what I assume when I think "american accent"
Just a flat neutral easy to understand English, especially for people who don't have English as their first language
I'm more intrigued what Americans think when they think british accent. Since there are about 60 of them in the UK islands
By FootbalIFan Go To PostYes this is what I assume when I think "american accent"We got so many accents, but almost none of them get represented on TV because they'd be impossible to understand lol

David Attenboroughs "Extinction: The Facts" is worth watching

This show is seriously off the rails insane.
That Cardi B song was a bit jarring though.

Yeah but he don't look too bad for a 94 year old

i couldve done w/o that and all the Montrose stuff but man that was some good body horror stuff.
By Yurtlicious Go To PostNot feeling Aya Cash ngl, she's like a Tomi Lahren with superpowers.
also I've only just realized how fucking scary it is to give a villain laser eyes, you're like a bad conversation away from being melted at all times.
wasted on Superman.
I love Aya Cash. I thought she was great on You're The Worst and she's done a great job with the character and the show has played with my emotions effectively so far.
Here's the deal, I know what "Stormfront" is as an organization in the year 2020. For nearly 3 full episodes I would not have batted an eye about what Aya Cash is doing as a character called "Stormfront." Consider me naive if you want, but the other connotation of her name never crossed my mind. Then of course the apartment complex even transpired and I was floored.
I didn't notice her belt buckle until the 4th episode. I didn't notice her earrings until the 4th episode. Jumping back, I thought her "blue eyes" comment about Homelander was an odd one, but never thought more about it than Homeland having very blue eyes.
My expectations were subverted. I was shocked by what happened and the other people I have talked to about the show are in the same boat. Again, that doesn't mean that everyone had the same experience. I'm sure the easter egg people noticed everything right away and were waiting for what we got at the end of episode 3. I wasn't and that's to the credit of her portrayal and the show's plotting.
By Not Go To PostHey speaking of Jessie Buckley lolThere's another GREAT actress.
i wish people would stop saying a piece of media subverted their expectations, its such a nothing phrase
and i wish amazon didnt decide "hey lets do 3 episodes to start then release the rest once a week, because fuck convinience"

I didn't pick up on any of that either
Finished Watchmen. It started off well and just got better and better from episode 5 onwards. The time and memory jumps from Angela to Hooded Justice we're done brilliantly. It all tied in perfectly to the overarching conspiracy plotline. Brilliant show.
Also refreshing that Lindelof doesn't want to write a second season just for the sake of it. Makes me think that if he ever goes back to Watchmen it will be just as well made and written as the first season. Don't want another True Detective fuck up.
