Read Chainsaw Man in one sitting last night - really enjoyed it. I hope the anime can do the manga justice, because some of the art was amazing, if a tad incomprehensible at points.
By Xpike Go To Postdid people actually like aot? i did the first season and dipped out as soon as possibleThe first three seasons of the anime are mostly real good, season 1 has too many episodes and takes a little too many liberties with the source material. season 4 is ugly due to external reasons but from season 2 through 4pt1, it's great TV with some fantastic episodes and occasionally phenomenal animation.
The arc in the manga this latest season was based on is the best in the series, lots of well planned out pay offs.
Which is then followed by a dogshit final arc. It's especially bad because of how well constructed the storytelling had proven to be, this arc has been the opposite of that. Everybody's been waiting for the chapter to drop to make this make sense but the last chapter releases this week and the contents have leaked which only cements the fall off.
I watched season 1 of AoT didn't like it then read up what happens in the rest of the series. Gives off strong Kingdom Hearts vibes.
aot aint that bad but i haven't read the latest chapters. it's pretty novel seeing character growth in a shonen, and it really delivers on hype moments. although wit deserve a lot of the credit.
episodes 54/55 are top 10 shonen episodes easy

By Lunatic Go To PostDid people actually like AoT? lol somebody slap this kidgreat concept but the execution left a lot to be desired
fair enough if the manga/later seasons became better but season 1 felt like i was watching paint dry at times with how many people did the Death Note internal monologue about things we already knew

I didn’t. I watched the first season for the hype when it started. Then couldn’t be fucked wasting my life watching something that wasn’t good just to see its conclusion.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyet here you are, 1000+ chapters deep in one piece😂
I ain't reading One Piece to merely knows what happens. Would gladly drop it if the quality fell off or I stopped enjoying it. It is why I am 100s of episodes behind in the anime.
Not about consuming media to the end just for the fuck of it anymore.

one piece is alright but it has some real slow parts, even in wano. it has picked up since ch 1000 but was pretty bad before that, the only reason you'd make it through is because you're invested. all of the scenes involving side characters like nami are so boring. oda has done such a bad job with weaker members of the crew, they're barely even characters any more.

I understand what you are saying about some of the members of the crew, but will never understand criticism of it being slow. That is the whole point of the manga. It is an adventure manga where the main character is always weak against whoever he comes up against and only gets through due to the help of others. Setting everything up takes time, that is why I enjoy OP. Wano has been excellent in setting things up. Everyone has on a purpose and characters who were introduced 500-600 chapters ago are finally having their time to shine in an natural way.
I do understand what you are saying about the members of the crew, but really think Frankie is the only one who Oda has never trully built on. Oda has spent a lot of time developing other characters in the world and I am ok with that, but it did suck not havin ghr crew together for so long. Some spoilers for Wano. Chopper is doing his thing as a doctor now, and I suspect will discover a cure for Smile fruits. Robin has always been set up as an endgame character, but she is about the have what I think is her first proper fight haha, Nami had some great moments on Whole Cake Island, and I think she will come face to face with Big Mom again and get Zeus back for good. And pretty much everyone is gonna have some type of fight on Wano.
I personally don't think people follow it just because they are invested in it, I still think it is because it is amazing. 24 years and 1000 chapters and only two arcs that I personally would classify as not very good. Everythiong else has been good to excellent, and as I said, I think you have to take into account that the manga is designed to be slow.
By Lunatic Go To PostThis mad lad tried to prove it to us 😂
I’m just happy for any One Piece discussion.
By DiPro Go To Posti got bored just right before the time skip.
will pick up in a year or so and do the second half.
You got bored with Marineford?
I hated reading marineford as it released. The pages were so fucking busy.

By Lunatic Go To PostIt's ok to like trash Shanks. You don't have to prove it to us.My favorite trash is History's Strongest Disciple: Kenichi or whatever it is called now. An infuriating amount of fan service but the show and manga make me smile. 🤷♂️
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostYou got bored with Marineford?nah just after, a little before the time skip but i had to push myself to get there.

stuff like chopper making medicine is pretty boring though, since it's inevitable that he succeeds it needs to be made interesting in other ways. we used to see new interesting abilities, expanding the scope of what characters are capable of, but we don't really see that any more. so that's why I get bored whenever we move away from luffy/zoro. these scenes don't grow characters, they don't build the world, or progress the plot meaningfully.... they just feel like filler, and it messes with the pacing since it feels so bloated.
Jjk 145 spoilers

The writer really made Eren eat his own mother lol. Somebody must have messed with his memory to make him forget how to write.

How did people want Attack on Titan to end? I often struggled to understand the final arc because Isayama seemed to draw everyone the same and I constantly had no idea who was supposed to be who, but it seemed ok. Eldians learn about the rest of humanity, attempt to make peace, fail, Erin uses his titan power to try and destroy humanity, turns out he wanted his friends to stop him so they could be regarded as heroes and have their peace.
Pretty clumsy, but these kind of super ambitious mystery stories never wrap up perfectly because the authors always throw one too many plot twists into the mix.
