By Veckrot Go To PostBitch can't even swim.Top 5 RE line
By rodeoclown Go To PostThe writing in FF7R sounds like peak Nomura.nomura catching flak for this when they specifically brought back the OG FFVII writer for the remake is hilarious.

By /sy Go To Postnomura catching flak for this when they specifically brought back the OG FFVII writer for the remake is hilarious. He's co-directing this, was behind Advent Children, and has written nothing but nonsense for the last 20 years. Of course people are going to see his fingerprints all over this.
By Slavic Go To PostFF7 can't even crack 90 when all video game reviewers have cloud tattoos? Smh.This is probably a good sign honestly.
By DY_nasty Go To PostThe midgar arc is also the best part of the game. There's a loooooooot of empty bullshit in 7.Is there a giant snek?
Fuck I hope not
Remember how right after Aeris dies, there's a comedy bit with the Turks and then you're forced to play the snowboarding mini-game.
take combat. Final Fantasy VII had random encounters and turn-based battles; everyone knows that. But was it something its developers wanted to include or something they felt compelled to add to the game because of technical restrictions? Was it just a Final Fantasy tradition to which they had to abide?
move on with the times turn-based slaent
sy talk to them

Was there any sort of strategy to the turn-based combat in FF7?
Never played it, always assumed it was just pick the highest damage attacks and spam potions or w/e. Unlike the cummy goodness of the turn-based combat in XCOM 2.
By HonestVapes Go To PostWas there any sort of strategy to the turn-based combat in FF7?It was standard jrpg fare. Nothing special. Commands other than normal attack and curatives/restoratives were only needed if underleveled/undergeared or going up against a gimmick.

XCOM 2 is more of a chess game how dare you

I just think it's hilarious that even with square marketing the "Original Development" staff behind this game so hard, the writing still got Nomura'd.
By Laboured Go To PostThere is one just outside Midgar.
The fucking Midgar Zolom (?)
iirc you could see its silhouette moving through the water as it chased you lol. There was one in FF15 too.

I'm looking at the directors of their past games and he seems to be the only one doing half-decent work
oh man he worked on Parasite Eve! Which I finished in Japanese somehow (just for the awesome cutscenes)
By Yurt Kojima Go To Postwhy get anyone elseEasily the best non-MMO director at square.

easily
Just expect middle school fanfic tier writing + Kojima level stupid convolution.
By DY_nasty Go To Postsure would be nice if we got a parasite eve remake :/would be nice but also would be some disturbing looking shit
also need a Vagrant Story remake that removes all the filler.

Square probably forgets this is even in its library.
I'm not a final fantasy fan as they all suck. VIIR seems to be the first with playable combat.
Hopefully Naoki Yoshida's rumored FF16's battle system is an evolution of FFVIIR's. Also, I hope that the art direction is more like 12 than the recent games.
