I’m at the RPD and I might like this more than RE2R. Also kinda glad they didn’t make Nemesis as relentless as he is when you first meet him because I could NOT handle 7 straight hours of that shit. First couple of encounters damn near gave me a panic attack.

I mean, I am good. It’s still COD. They just made some dumb decisions like making Ghost hide you even when sitting still in a corner. You used to have to be moving.

whew...I think I'm starting this after I'm done with Dragon's Dogma! Not my type of game but it's time I go outside my gaming comfort zone again. Last time I did I loved both XCOM 2 and Persona 5
I'm pretty damn shit at grinding for materials/items and making gear though. I almost always ignore it in games to the determent of my characters... just too lazy. Like, I'm pretty sure I haven't changed my gear in DD since level 10, all I do is change weapons and I don't even go outta my way looking for them. I also rarely use items, an involuntary hoarder, if you will.
damn you could probably tell someone's personality from their gaming habits
Yurt, if you play on PC, my gf and I can help. Also, Monster Hunter is most effectively played if you gear up for each fight like Batman. You will be using consumables constantly. The only thing that you will really be grinding for is end-game decorations because that is the only time the RNG really goes out of its way to be evil.
^Yeah I figured!
might as well now that I'm quarantined

If you end up playing it and want a challenge throughout, do not use the Defender armor or weapons. They are meant to help people turbo through the base game and into the Iceborne expansion. Also, the first hunt that actually makes you learn how to dodge and shit is against Anjanath. It is a few hunts in, but not too far.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Definitely ask once you get to end game and are wondering what some good gear setups are.
e: but, yeah, me and the gf are grinding out a "raid" monster right now and we each have gear and item setups tailored exclusively for that fight. there are buff items, escape-from-battle items, heal items, and more and we use all of them to beat the fight under the death and time limit

expect most of the armor options to be ugly as fuck and clip through your weapon horribly while you run. If you need a clip free set, pick the long sword and work towards the ogdari-something armor

Will do, Kibner!! And yeah I don't wanna turbo anything, I'll do it the right way.
Dual Blades or Longswords are more up my alley.

that's quite alright I don't mind clipping or ugly sets really. I mostly play From games after all

I will say that the Lance has gotten a lot better with clutch claw attacks when guarding. You also guard to counter. There is even a skill thing that buffs your attack damage after a block.
Also, Gun Lance does not play defensive at all. lol
Sword and Shield I don't have much experience with but it is the only weapon that lets you use items without putting away your weapon.

From should have hired whichever Sony Japan artist that designed some of the sets in BB.
I put a shitload of time into longsword, great sword and bow, and enjoyed all of them a lot
Started on the dual swords when it turned into just farming the end game monsters which basically made it much more repetitive than it could have been
Are there mixed sets in Iceborne?
My FFVII got despatched yesterday, no idea when it'll actually arrive.

Done with Hardcore. Jfc, perfect dodges make shit incredibly difficult, later on. I was trying to zoom through it, but hit rough patches, because I skipped items. Shit still took me longer than I'd like. Gonna clear the last two difficulties and start speedrunning.
Knife only runners are wild. No way would I do that, for this game. To many OHKO situations for my blood.
That obviously wasn't their goal, for this game. They didn't need Mikami's help for anything. Wat. Lol
Not saying you or anyone else is wrong for feeling that way, but I don't agree: from a narrative, pacing, or game design perspective.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen more of the city collapsing on itself, and people trying to survive. Jill's PTSD is dropped damn near as soon as it was mentioned, and doesn't resurface outside of one scene. I would have liked a more horror vibe, akin to Alien Isolation and Terminator 1. Ultimately tho, they decided that it was more fitting to see the dynamic duo, trying to do the right thing. I enjoyed it, 2x now.
After the Drain Deimos segment, Spiders don't ever need to come back. They are the same enemies now.
Big facts

By The Frankman Go To PostWhich doesn't make sense really… they basically amped up Mr. X to be Nemesis 2.0 and then gimped Nemesis? Why? It's like the teams weren't around back then to notice the impact of Nemesis back in the day.
As for the cuts, RE3:N is a shorter RE title. The goal is to display more of the Raccoon City area and if you're cutting whole areas you better add in new buildings to substitute. This is what I mean by the devs not understanding the purpose of a building/area in a game; it's not because you need a certain fight/event to happen there. It's not like they couldn't contact people who worked on Nemesis for input or *gasp* Mikami.

It was true when I heard it, which admittedly was some time ago. The original idea was the first half would be open up to the Subway, and then the game would get more linear in the second half. That's still kinda' true of the final, but they downscaled the exploration part of the city certainly.
I think some are more focused on that aspect, rather than me mentioning RE3 was going to be "sooner than people thought", it was "outsourced to another studio (M-Two as revealed since then)", and "people should prepare for something very different (because the game is going to be very different than RE3)" stuff, which were vague but I mainly like to hint people rather than be direct like I'm being here, but in this case I know it's coming out this month anyways and it was already partially leaked, I can add more to it and it's a game that needs more time for acceptance I feel.
I wish back then I had mentioned they turned the Tram into a Subway as I knew that so maybe some may see what I said was true though. But I've learned more over time to wait and hold onto things until they can no longer be changed. The RE3 thing was info I had from 2018, the stuff I share now is from this year when the game is not that far away from reveal.
By Kibner Go To PostWhat do you mean by mixed sets, Hitch?Sets that require multiple types of monster to make. Would let them make much more visually interesting gear I reckon, and don't remember anything like it in World aside from maybe a Jaggi tooth here and there.
Plus it would give you reason to go back to the early monsters, stronger versions would be cool.
In terms of revisiting areas, Dead Space 2 still holds the crown. I was expecting a little more out of a certain area in RE3.
I played up to the sewersin RE3 last night and I'm real into it. I heard the complaints that it doesn't have puzzles like RE2, and while that's true, it does still reward you for exploring and taking your time to go back into areas when you get new items like the bolt cutters and the lock pick.
I'm okay with the way Nemesis works here. If he stalked you around like Mr. X the entire time, it would basically kill any ability to explore, since he can warp around and jump in front you.

finished RE3. Overall that was...pretty good. The frantic pace at the beginning was ace
does anyone really miss RE's baffling puzzles?!?! It made sense (barely) in a mansion but in a police station, city or a SEWER? It was all just filler to artificially extend playtime. RE takes itself way too seriously for a pass here

Nioh's aesthetic is a bit rubbish already, and becomes absolutely shit when you compare it to FROM
Still enjoying it though, decent way into chapter 3, 54 hours or so played. The time has flown past, feel like I've done fuck all.

Finished hardcore RE3.
Nemesis sucked. Barely a problem. Zombies give you more challenge. You can see that they really scaled him back due to cuts to the game's areas. He's just there to drop you items in the first 30 minutes, then disappears until he comes back as some meat-gorilla and then it's just boss-fights and scripted shit. The dodge mechanic makes him less than trivial.
He's also a total fucking jobber and the story is written in such a dumb way where they give nemesis about 7 100% kill Jill situations and he doesn't take them.

Would let them make much more visually interesting gear I reckon, and don't remember anything like it in World aside from maybe a Jaggi tooth here and there.Ohh, you mean a certain piece of gear requiring parts from multiple different monsters. No, that still is not a thing and I doubt it ever would be.
Plus it would give you reason to go back to the early monsters, stronger versions would be cool.
However, they finally learned to let the people use the Layered Armor system to customize their look however they want. Basically, it lets you wear whatever armor you want for stats but then pick and choose (for each armor slot) what you want your appearance to be.
It does not let you customize weapons this way, unfortunately, but they did add these pendant things that you can have hanging at the end of weapons. They are kind of like key chains.
