Terrible match, both teams poor.
The gap Spurs need to bridge to turn this into a good performance is much smaller than our's imo, we're utterly bereft of composure whereas they just need to sort out the killer pass. Unless the plan is to just smash it forward asap, in which case I don't think it's working very well. Firmino doesn't seem at all ready.

By sohois Go To PostHave Liverpool deliberately sat back and played at a low tempo, or like Spurs are they just a bit rusty and playing poorly? If it's the former, the game is over, the latter and it is still.finely balancedLooks like the latter. Liverpool have been poor going forward too.

both teams are clearly nervous over this being their one chance or whatever, they can't seem to string 3 passes together
By Fergie Go To PostLooks like the latter. Liverpool have been poor going forward too. There have been fewer silly short passes, and generally not much pressing it flooding of the box, which is the only reason I could see it being Na deliberate strategy
By Xpike Go To Postcrazy idea but maybe they shouldnt have the european finals 2 weeks after the seasons are over3 weeks

Hard to imagine they prepared for being up after seconds and that might be the reason why Liverpool is playing so bad.
Also, Spurs don't look dangerous at all, so Liverpool might as well wait this out. They just need one good counter and Spurs could be done.

Harry Kane's inclusion is incredible. He doesn't look match fit at all.
Poch will take off Son instead.

Also, refs do not know the handball rule. I'm certain of it now. They call any contact with the hand as a foul.
FIFA handbook says it must be deliberate. Terrible decision that makes a mockery of VAR.

Difficult to be match fit when you haven’t played any matches
By Meus Renaissance Go To PostAlso, refs do not know the handball rule. I'm certain of it now. They call any contact with the hand as a foul.Head of Uefa referees Robert Rossetti told the Times in January that - when VAR was introduced into this season's Champions League - officials would penalise any unnatural arm movement that makes contact with the ball.
FIFA handbook says it must be deliberate. Terrible decision that makes a mockery of VAR.
"The big challenge is the position of the arm. When the arm is totally out of the body above the shoulder it should be penalised. If the defender is making the body bigger in order to block the ball it is not fair.
"It is different if the defender is challenging or playing the ball and it rebounds. But if he is looking to block a cross or a shot on goal and the player is trying to spread his body then it is a handball."
They changed the criteria this season to be more strict towards unnatural positions. That's how the PSG and other City handballs were called and that is how this was called as well.

I know. He shouldn't be on the pitch much less starting. Unfair to Lucas.

Yes, but in this instance he was using his arm to signal to other players to help him. It was in no way an attempt to block the ball. Referee again not using any common sense.
I can't remember the last deliberate handball. Most pens given for that it are pure contact with the ball.

I've seen my fair amount of shit handball calls this Bundesliga season. This wasn't one. Simply should have kept his arm down

Referee again not using any common sense.Ifab chief David Elleray explained: "If the arms are extended beyond that silhouette then the body is being made unnaturally bigger, with the purpose of it being a bigger barrier to the opponent or the ball.

"Players should be allowed to have their arms by their side because it's their natural silhouette."
That new interpretation will come in from 1 June - the date of the Champions League final.
That is why I said earlier this is how it's going to work next season. The idea of him pointing doesn't really matter that much when the arm was extended outside of what they call natural silhouette.
I don't agree, but they did say it was going to happen, 4 times it has happened this CL and people are still debating it. It's done.

Liverpool have the best attacking fullbacks in Europe. The delivery from both sides is something else
