I’ve already been on the Ryzen train, first stop was disappointment.
For me right now, I’ve got a good Z390 board and a 9600K. It makes more sense to get the 9900K at £430 that it does to pay £400ish for a 3800X, plus £60 for an R3 1200 to update the BIOS on the B350 board I have spare.
Tbh, it makes more sense to not upgrade anything. The 9600K is fine for me at 4K, but that old saying about a fool and his money rings true for me.

I bought my G305 on the 27th of July last year, I've only just now needed to replace the second battery in it.

I bought my G613 keyboard in 11/2017, and have yet to replace the batteries. Incredible, really. Logigawds.
By NinjaFridge Go To PostHave had my G900 for 2+ years now and still on the first battery.
Yup.
By HottestVapes Go To PostI should petition Logitech to make a 60% keyboard. I need it.Get in line m8, been tweeting them ever since I got my G613. Seems like a such a no-brainer.

They could overcharge for it and it'd sell out no problem. Ez money being left on the table.

I'd be happy if it just looked like the G Pro board with the arrow keys chopped off and a thinner top bezel. Wireless/wired connectivity. Absolute perfection just waiting to be made.
By SUPER YARAK Go To PostDid the processor come yet herr vapes?Aye, just about to install it. The 9700K came in a battered Celeron box. This apparent 9900K has come in a GT1030 box.
Just taken the cooler off, but installed my new SF750 too while I had the case open, redid some cable management to further shame Smokey. Pics soon.
Right then. Shit's all in, cables looking good despite the fact they'll be getting replaced soon with some custom length ones from CableMod. Schrodinger's CPU turned out to actually be a 9900K today, which is a great result.
Took the RGB backplate I ordered a while back off the 2080Ti, it just didn't sit right with the Accelero bracket so I'm running a lot of bare PCBs in this currently. Some residue left on the Accelero bracket, I'll clean it eventually.

9600K coming out'
9900K going in, appreciate the beauty of those sticks of Samsung B die.
And at this point I though to myself, that D9L just isn't going to cut the mustard cooling a 9900K with MCE on.
So I went the HAF route.
No forgeries this time.
So how hot does the 900K get after three runs of Cinebench R20 with only a single fan D9L on it?
HWInfo reports 189w of power draw from the CPU package, and the cooler is rated by Noctua for much less. Not a bad result. Coldest core was 82c and the hottest was 87c, so quite a good delta between them. It was running at 4.7Ghz all core during the three runs too.
It's next on the list, I just can't decide on which kit to get. G Skill Royals look great but they're just not my style. Thinking of getting some Corsair platinums.

I might switch over the Dominator Platinums just to round out the parts, and have everything under Corsair icue
But the royals look too gud in the case idk

4x8

Fuck am I supposed to do with 8 cores now anyway? Should I start streaming? Become a tech-prick youtuber?
By HottestVapes Go To PostFuck am I supposed to do with 8 cores now anyway? Should I start streaming? Become a tech-prick youtuber?Streaming is a good idea, yeah. Content creation, experiment with VMs and development. Maybe throw up a server or two.

I used to fuck around with video editing back when I was about 15, kinda miss it. Reckon there's still a market for call of duty 4 montages?
I was sick with it, if I do say so myself.
Oh, Vapes, another thing you can do with that CPU head room. Go to Security -> App & browser control -> Isolated browsing and install Application Guard. This will let Edge run in an "isolated Hyper-V-enabled container, which is separate from the host operating system": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/windows-defender-application-guard/wd-app-guard-overview#what-is-application-guard-and-how-does-it-work
By default, it runs everything in software mode so it should use more CPU than normal. A great way to limit risk to your machine even further if you ever visit sites with questionable ethics. Combine that with an ad blocker of some sort and you probably have as about a safe way as possible to view illicit sports streams (my main use) as conveniently feasible on a Windows machine.

I don't really do any illegal browsing or use Edge, but that shit's neat and might come in handy.
There's a few other things in that Security app that you might look into enabling. Particularly in that Device security tab. Be sure to click on the links that are labeled "details" and such in order to see other switches you can flip.

I think I just made the smartest AIO purchase possible. Ordered an Alphacool Eisbaer LT240 over an Asetek unit and i'll tells you why. It's a full copper rad, all using G1/4 fittings. I can use it until I'm ready to go full custom loop then reuse the radiator. Big brain plays.
By Zabojnik Go To PostCongrats on your purchase, Vapes. I give it 4 months before the pump dies. That'll be okay, it'll speed up the process of going full custom loop.
By HottestVapes Go To PostGood for AMD if they’re legit but when we gonna see them compete with a Nvidia flagship card?
