By reilo Go To PostI think it matters because despite my quibbles with Nolan as a writer, I think he's one of the most technically impressive directors out there.I get your point. There is alot of material I would love to see him work on, but still I rather see him do something original than doing sequel X or reboot/remake Y.
Him attempting to direct somebody else's writing and let the script do the story work might be movie magic. But we'll find out.
Nobody was asking for one, hence thought experiment to hone in on a point.
I love Fincher and I couldn't imagine something more boring than watching a movie about Facebook, but it's still better than to make something original.
Just look at the state of fucking Hollywood. They're even remaking Memento lmao.
And Nolan already worked on two things that I've seen where he did well with other material. Not like Insomnia was a masterpiece, but a solid movie. Prestige was wonderful.
Honestly think his brother is the better writer anyway, but he's occupied with Westworld.
The Indy reboot was just a thought experiment because it's easier to convey a story/theme/character everyone knows. It's an example, not an actual suggestion. I still want him to do original work just with a good writer -- which I don't think he necessarily is.
Y'all really get caught up on the details.

if you are going to pirate things.. are you really not patient enough to not wait for a decent release?
Love how the Cats trailer just quickly cuts from static scene to static scene, almost like they don't want you looking at any part of it in motion for more than 2 seconds

Knives Out
Had a lot of fun with this - in the end. At first, it feels (strangely for Johnson, who always wears his heart on his sleeve and did so perfectly in ‘TLJ’) a little lacking in heart, too preoccupied with the logistics and mechanics of its central mystery to get the blood pumping. But come the end when it plays all its cards, it’s done such a good job of characterising its leads that it all genuinely works.
There’s a few quibbles. Some of the supporting cast, particularly Colette, don’t get enough to do, and there’s some nigh-on cringey lines that feel written for Twitter, but ultimately Johnson’s created an excellent Christie pastiche with two brilliant lead performances from de Armas and Craig, gorgeous production design and an outstandingly well-edited movie.

Just had the unpleasant opportunity of watching JOKER. I can not believe that the crux of the film comes down to who created who in the long and storied history of Joker and the Wayne family. Unbelievably stupid storytelling.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostSurprised McQueen took one.
By Kawhic Go To PostJoker is what dumb people think is a smart movie.perfect for superhero movie fans then, just like dark knight

That's Nolan's entire career tbh.

Yeah was just about to name-check Inception but you're probably right.
I don't even want to be mean to Nolan but his movies are just the right amount of smart and action that the masses are okay with it and think they witnessed something special but it doesn't completely fly over their heads.
Aronofsky is right there but you go for Nolan with "directors that make movies that people for some reason think are smart". smh
By diehard Go To Postthat one that beat you over the head with Bible allegoriesthe bible movie?
If we’re bringing Aronofsky into this (I don’t agree although I bounced off the bible movie and Mother) who are we saying is unimpeachable?
