I made a slaent squad for PS4, but not sure if there's a more efficient way to get people in it than to invite them to my online session, and then into the squad from there.

I was linked this the other day: https://adoptahunter.org
Haven't really checked it out so I don't know how useful it may be or anything.

By DY_nasty Go To Postcharge blade for lifeAt some point, I will probably try a different weapon, but the hunting horn fits my playstyle so far and also makes me laugh.
I used bows in previous editions of the game.
Is this worth getting? I got Wolfenstein but my lack of interest in FPS has it sidelined. I haven't started lost souls 3 either but not sure I feel that right now.

I will eventually buy this. Haven't played MH since MHFU which I put 200 hours in so it should be fun.
also great way to establish a deeper connection with some of you so I can convince you to play UT99

no.
How much has changed in gameplay since MHFU? I know they added underwater gameplay in MH 3 and MH4 had you jumping and shit (from what I saw in trailers). So new weapons and such aside; is all of that still in MH World? Are parties still restricted to 4 ppl?
4 people parties. Gameplay is about the same but it is much more responsive... there isn't nearly as much input lag...
Man I am reading up on shit but I think I need a little bit more story/cycle of special events than I'm seeing in the Wiki. One can Expedition for crap for so long...
By blackace Go To PostThey seem to have quite a few events… but Monster Hunter isn't known for it's deep storyYeah I had thought there might be more added story with all the "Weternization" comments that came out. Don't really need a deep story if you have a good number of events running, people will be farming drops/tracking monsters most of the time anyway to get/evolve their SS/S/A level gear.
I mean, its basic "are u a bad enuf dude to fukk up these monsters?"
imo its worse when games pour all sorts of effort into making a huge story driven work only to have a god awful, painful experience you have to slog through

Character creator still ass tho

The wishlist is fantastic. Even totals the number of each part you need for AOL items on the list.
I need to learn a bladed weapon so I can cut off tails.
Just happy using my Glaive jumping on shit and slashing.
The only problem is getting essence, but pretty much getting better at it.

By blackace Go To PostIt's a bit refreshing that at least at first (dont know what happens later) you aren't apart of some world ending threatYeah, something new (to me) to be playing a game where the motivation of the characters is the pursuit of knowledge. Unfortunately the further I get through the story, the less work seems to have gone into the cutscenes, basic stuff like transitional scenes are missing so its beginning to feel a bit FFXV-ish
Obviously I'm not playing for the story, but its a nice little bonus
Me and Mastadon failed a couple of quests yesterday, very happy to know that the difficulty ramp is there, just takes a long time to reach it.
By Kibner Go To PostWhich monster was that road block for you?One was a rathian-rathalos double header where they wouldn't seperate, the other was a giriss hunt that we went for odegaron during, and he demolished me
Just fainted twice against him as well, just about beat him though
I'm yet to hit a proper roadblock, but it's not a cakewalk any more
I gotcha. Yeah, I think the first normal Rathian or electric squirrel fight is the first one where you can't just mindlessly beat on something and expect to win. You need to come supplied with consumables and start thinking about the skills and stats of the armor you wear.
Odegaron (or however you spell it) is the first one that made me actually seriously look at what I was using because the damage I was taking was ludicrous. It was also the first monster where I considered it mandatory to start using the palico meals just to survive. lol

Rathalos just killed me about 6 times and then flew off, failing the expedition quest
Yikes
Almost out of money too since I've been building every armour set I can. Gonna have to sell the weapons I don't use probably, and a bunch of items I've been hording

By Hitch Go To PostRathalos just killed me about 6 times and then flew off, failing the expedition questI generally don't hold on to more than 10 of any body part. Sell the rest, as they bring in real good money. If you fight a four-star and sell all the shit from the fight, you'll make like 4-5k easy.

One of the most frustrating things I remember, you basically had to time it with the monster's attacking pattern.

It's just not designed for that purpose.

Sell a lot of those stones and ores as well, at least the more common ones.
By Suen Go To PostDo they still have those annoying character animations when you drink potions and whatever? One of the most frustrating things I remember, you basically had to time it with the monster's attacking pattern.Yes. You can still move around at a greatly reduced speed and also dodge out of it. IIRC, there are skills on gear that can speed up some of those animations.

They did, however, remove or reduce time on all the gathering animations, except for maybe the bone piles. Herbs and bugs and such are nearly instant and mining is extremely quick.

so been using the knife and shield but battling the large creatures takes a long time... so I am trying the longsword now...
can one of you guys school me on capturing?
i thought you had to use tranq bombs on trapped enemies, but that didn't work at all. later on i get a trapped monster ezpz
i understand the wait for the limp stuff, but i think i'm understanding this wrong

By DY_nasty Go To Postcan one of you guys school me on capturing?Sometimes, monsters just aren't weak enough when they start limping. They are definitely weak enough if, after they retreat while limping, you find them asleep. Sometimes they will go into a death rage instead of sleeping. But they should be capturable then.

You are doing things right with the traps and the tranqs, just not waiting until enough damage is done.

at least, that's my thought after a single attempt

One way to be sure it's to stand right where you put the trap and throw those tranq bombs at the floor.

I've just been standing on the trap and dropping them at my feet
The mechanics seem pretty strange for capturing, can't figure it out. Sometimes my tranqs fail, then my cat will place a thunderbug trap, and that'll capture the monster, but it doesn't seem to work like that for my own shock traps.
And when the monster is in its death throes, they often seem to break out of the traps after about a second. Do they actually have to be trapped for the tranqs to work, or do they just make it easier to keep their heads still? Also trap/tranqed a few enemies from sleep and it hasn't worked, wonder if there's another stage of weakness to put them in to get it.
Wish they surfaced the special arena stuff as well more clearly. Not every captured enemy has a special arena quest, and it doesn't tell you which special arenas you've already done since it deletes them from your quest book on completion.
Gonna deliver 2 lumps of meat from Odegarons lair in a bit, time to put on my Pro Transporting boots

I'm going pretty slow on story progression in Monster Hunter. Have been enjoying going on SOS missions for the past few days.
Then today I wanted to continue the main story but my wife made the executive decision for me to get new armor for my Palicos, because the current one isn't cute.

Switched out to the bow for a bit. Quite like it but I can't hold much of the special ammo, so poisoning or paralysing a monster can be a bit of a pain.
Is there a way to upgrade the number of traps you can carry? I can only seem to carry one shock trap at the moment.

By Hitch Go To PostI've just been standing on the trap and dropping them at my feetWhen they are asleep, you drop a trap on them, instantly setting it off and then you use tranqs. For the death throes, you have to wait for them to exhaust themselves before trapping and then tranqing.
