By RobNBanks Go To PostIs a rich person hates something it’s usually a good thing, so it amazes me that people don’t see that.
Doesn’t Walmart fire people if they even have suspicions of union talks being started or some shit
How else will they prevent the rising tide of Communism in America?
By Jonm Go To PostSerious question, do Republicans even have much of a platform anymore?White nationalism dude
I know they had one they would construct around all their giveaways for the ultra rich and occasionally answer Democratic proposals with rich person based alternatives but it feels like they don't even have that anymore.
…The wall I guess?
By Random Ass Username Go To PostBoth parties pretty much secure money for their donors and argue over social restrictions to differentiate themselves from each other.Sure that’s true, and the funding is part of the game unfortunately, but the intellectual right(as much of a farce as it always was) is all but gone.
On the left people are still mostly activated around policy, not vague emotions, racism, and tribalism. Healthcare, social justice, entitlement expansion, climate change etc. If a Dem comes in office and botches that stuff, they will lose support and goodwill. Not really the case for Republicans anymore as long as they signal properly and hit the right emotional appeals.
Nah I'd say policy is also hilariously pushed to the back burner as well...
I mean just say you care about minorities. You don't have to actually do anything positive or even remain consistent. Just a picture without your foot in your mouth will do. Bam, liberal af with minimal effort.

"I love Bernie, but I'm not Bernie Sanders. I don't think 500 billionaires are the reason why we're in trouble," he said, referring to the Vermont senator and 2016 presidential candidate. "I get into a lot of trouble with my party when I say that wealthy Americans are just as patriotic as poor folks."
Guess that Democrat presidential favorite!

I heard the stock market here in the US closed early today?
Whatever happened to the freedom to finish selling off your shit?
That is not very free market, now, is it?
Just trying to save the economy, huh?

Just because an issue is underrepresented by some on the left doesn’t mean all issues are irrelevent to every voter.
As is the left is still activated heavily around policy goals, just look at Bernie and the fact every single prospective nominee feels obligated to commit to a series of policy ideals like single payer, even if they aren’t as detailed out as one might prefer, it’s still more than the right that seems to have finally reached a final form of being completely energized around appeals to emotion and tribalism. I.E. they are basically a fascist party at this point. The left has its issues but they aren’t anywhere near that right now.

By Random Ass Username Go To PostDid you miss this or?Given the dickish comment I’m hesitating to even bother replying but....
My point was and is about people identifying as being on the left vs the right still having an anchor around policy goals vs the rights almost exclusive anchoring around negative emotional appeals and tribalism. Nowhere did I make the argument that the current congressional representatives of the Democratic Party are acting perfectly liberal....that would obviously be absurd. Not to mention I’m not sure who gets to decide such a thing anyways.
i dont understand how you can say the left is focused on policy when people were more than happy to say that hillary clinton ran the most progressive campaign of all time lol
and it isn't some recent framing either - minorities know all too well about how lip service and policy change with the seasons coming from liberals.
its just weird and maybe im misunderstanding but i'm not sure how you can frame democrats as more policy oriented than the right. if anything, one side is just plainly more deliberate in their actions and their voters expect as much vs the other. i mean shit, there's barely talk of policy right now other than simply being better than the other guys. i also don't get how you can call tribalism one way but not the other... like somehow either political party is above circling the wagons to protect mutual interests at any given moment

Is that why minorities voted for Clinton over Sanders? At least they knew how they were going to be fucked.

When asked directly about minority issues Sanders would flounder. Unless you think "a rising tide lifts all boats" inspires total confidence.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostAssuming primaries don’t matter led to Clinton vs Trump. Sanders would have won. Any competent person would have won against the pussy grabber.primaries don't matter once they're over and you simply don't want to drop out. sanders would've been a fun ride but lets not act like he at any point had a shot against hillary's mega campaign with nothing more than angry college kids, pictures of himself at the cookout, and a foreign policy of "we should talk more and not fight as much, i think". im not sure how you'd call that a real election. it was a marathon and he lasted a few blocks.
that's not 'assuming primaries don't matter'. its recalling he never had a chance and should've dropped out sooner but wanted to cling to his independent safety harness to maintain relevance past the election
you can go on tangents about not beating trump and im usually all for it but that's not what any of my post really focused on.
