Possible League Changes for Future Leagues/Things to Note
10/31
- Buy in of $70-75?
- make sure to research roster spots/positions to maintain offensive nature of league. Pull data to see if points system should be tweaked. Same with roster spots per team.
11/1
- Requiring the Yahoo App and confirmed points of contact (Primary E-Mail, App, Yahoo forum). No burner e-mails
- See if response for using Yahoo Cash Leagues have improved and look into using them next year instead of PayPal
(also look into LeagueSafe)
- Improve recruiting efforts to the more "professional" boards (RotoWorld, Football Guys, RotoGrinders, etc.)
11/2
- Death Row's (aka "THE CHEATER BEATERS") banned (KICKED)
11/4
- Increase the amount of Trade Pushes to 2 next year
11/30
- Swamp Hogs loses future spot (can be on waitlist)
- Baseballislife69 loses future spot

PPR Fantasy Scoring is a relic: Let's try new things
PPR Fantasy Scoring is a relic: Let's try new things
Somewhere along the way, a weird sort of PPR snobbery took hold — particularly among fantasy experts. Hardcore zealots emerged. They told us, among other things, that PPR was a smarter way to play, that it better represented the tendencies of a changing game by rewarding a critical skill. And we all played along, reshuffling cheat sheets, building rosters around the exquisite skills of Marty Booker and Larry Centers.
But here’s the thing: Within the context of an actual NFL game, a 5-yard reception is not substantially more valuable than a 5-yard run. No reasonable person would argue that a catch for no-gain should be scored the same in fantasy as a 10-yard rush (or 5, or 3). Receptions have no special meaning in reality, beyond the yards they generate. This seems fairly obvious.
So while we may have enjoyed the impact PPR scoring had on draft boards, we’d begun awarding points for a common event with no inherent value.
Article of the week: Reviving the true value of the fantasy football QB
EDIT: Comments section has some damn good discussion.
We need to fix quarterback scoring y'all.I REALLY like some of the ideas he's talking about, but one of them (Using QB Rating in scoring) is impossible, the other (No QB streaming) is improbable. The idea of changing QB scoring/turnovers I like, the idea of Blake fucking Bortles having almost as much value as Aaron Rodgers disgusts me. I don't know about a 6-4 system, but a 5-3 I could be down with. How about you guys?
Even those of you who hate change, and those of you who just want to stay in blissful ignorance and play in "standard" leagues because that is how you, your father, and your father's father have always played fantasy football. Yes, you too know deep down quarterback scoring needs to change.
The NFL Fantasy crew just completed our first offseason mock draft and Aaron Rodgers was taken at the top of the fourth round, 31st overall. If you're a savvy fantasy manager, you know that sounds about right for the Green Bay signal caller.
But let's think about that for a second. Aaron flippin' Rodgers went 14 picks after Todd Gurley, a player who was an abject disaster in fantasy last year. Rodgers is a perennial MVP candidate for goodness sakes and a fantasy stud year in and year out.
Meanwhile, other quarterback studs saw even worse treatment from our seasoned fake-game experts. Russell Wilson went in the 12th round while Matt Ryan, the actual MVP from last season, went in the 14th round, 133rd overall.
When quarterbacks give you just four points per passing touchdown and just minus-two when they turn the ball over, this drafting style is par for the course. This is normal.
But it is also insane.

Well they see how terrible your RB situation is. Sure your WRs are amazing but it's the only position you have an advantage in. Surely you don't have a strong one at QB or TE. Obviously you can fix your RB situation in the waiver wire or via a trade.
But yes I have also always enjoyed using football guys rate my team. They have a great podcast as well.
They love my team by the way...

By The Frankman Go To Post… Check Rivers and Brate's numbers last yearThat's last year not this year though.
Check Rivers brutal early schedule and his history of breaking down as the season goes on. Will he finish top 10? Maybe... Still not a strong advantage over most other teams QB's.
There are also more mouths to feed this year for the Bucs with Djax and Howard. I would hardly call Brate having a strong advantage at TE by any means. Will he be serviceable? Sure.
By Minx Go To PostThat's last year not this year though. That is a unusually harsh assessment of Rivers, who has a stupid amount of WR/TE weapons and the offense to chuck them with. He had big numbers with Williams/Benjamin/Inman, he can easily put together a Top 5 QB finish. Brate is serviceable, but had 6 TDs in 9 games down the stretch. He's been a good RZone target and Winston does chuck to TEs a decent amount. A Top 10 TE finish is definitely in the cards. Gates at least is another guy that should get a ton of RZone looks as Rivers security blanket.

Again they don't have to be dominant, but they are certainly at the least average/better than (Rivers especially).
I mean maybe your rankings are different but for both of them to be better than average that means the most accurate experts would be ranking them at each at #8 or higher (so better than average in a 16 team league) in their positions. I don't know of many experts with a history of being the most accurate ranking either player at #8 or above. Rivers would be closer tho. Anyways, no one really knows what will happen. I just know any given week I wouldn't be especially scared of your team at this point before the season starts.
I just need people to fear the team one the week they play them :D . As usual I'll make my hay on the waiver wire like always, unlike last year when I couldn't even make a deal because I drafted unknowns that panned out to have poor overall talent. I sorta took the ZeroRB thing too far (I wasn't planning on that strategy at all, it sorta happened), but it should be hard to overcome.
The trade done by The Autumn Win/TD's and Beer recently is why it's so hard to do early season trades. You're basing info on a 1-game sample size that may or may not be indicative of a seasonal trend. That being said, there are some metrics that justify the deal as very fair... but it would need a pretty definitive trend starting in Minnesota. I'm going to check out some numbers via FootBallOutsiders to break it down.
I will say that it was probably a "one offer and accept" trade and not a "shop around" deal.

I think this Sept 13th Waiver Period will go down as the most insane in SLAENT history.
And by insane someone paid $50 for Javorius Allen and that's not the most outlandish move by far.

We'll see how it works out but my gut has a long and storied history so I tend to respect it. Might trade Eli too but we'll see how that goes as well.
By sooperkool Go To PostWe'll see how it works out but my gut has a long and storied history so I tend to respect it. Might trade Eli too but we'll see how that goes as well.Way the market is not sure you'll get anything for him. And that comes from a guy who drafted Eli the last 4 years.
My team is looking as dominant as it was last year. I just need health on my side this time, losing AJ Green last year was too much to overcome.
This is going to be a big week in terms of finding out what my lotto tickets can do (Collins and Gallman). Both will get a legit chance to start and if they do well could keep the job. Murray might get some passing down work also.
Ok league update... I have a replacement owner lined up in case Baseballlife63 does not contact me. I have tried 8 (EIGHT!) different forms of communication telling him to respond, and he has yet to. If he does not respond before 6 PM EST Thursday, his team will be reassigned to the new owner.

I'm still willing to entertain your earlier trade offer, btw. Just didn't want to make a call either way before the weekend.
