Had another 4 hour hoop session today. Went and got an ankle brace ahead of time and it made all the difference in the world. Felt way more comfortable and my foot was secure. It's sore again but I can feel things getting better.

lol i was definitely like that last week. Yesterday was different. Maybe the ankle brace gave me more confidence? I tried a different brand and it made my foot feel really secure. Last week I didn't have one on so I was concerned that any little sharp cut could be a disaster.
I used to sprain my ankles on the regular, so I know how tough it is getting over that mental block. congrats man; best thing is that better times are ahead.

Appreciate it.
I've always been able to bounce back from them quickly but this one....nah....torn ligaments all in my foot. Walking boot. Never had one this severe. This happened back in December and I'm just now trying to play on it for a decent amount of time.
I have day to day plantar fasciitis that I have to deal with. It can be pretty painful even with custom insoles in most of my shoes. But it's not nearly as bad as the tendinitis in my left ankle. I have an inflamed PT tendon that requires ice most nights and that's with the six to eight Advil I'm downing.
Any issues below the waist is just the fucking worst. The doctors say to just stay off your feet and rest as if that's a realistic option for most people.

I'm surprised you're pretty permanently living there.
I'm moving next year, I hope Wisconsin or Boston or San Diego (or Chicago, lmao) are a bit different than here.
Man Diego is chill but it's so close to Oceanside and the Marine Corps that I wonder if it's bro'd up homophobia and quite a conservative city? Maybe I'm being prejudiced about it, I don't know. Beautiful city and weather though.
I'd have to ask one of my best friends that lives there and is married to a Marine.

You'd be surprised at how "meh" the military is regarding homosexuality. This generation in particular... They're all trained by the guys who went and saw action with people who were gay or bi on the low and learned quick to not give a fuck. The crows around the military is far worse than the military imo.

Lived in SD for 4 years. It has it's own "gay area," Hillcrest. anyway, despite the military presence, it's very socially liberal from my experiences and this is mostly from years ago (thought I still go from time to time). I've know military dudes who didn't give a fuck down there.
SD is one of the most laid back towns ever. I wouldn't worry.
Speaking of injuries, I jammed/sprained my pointer finger bad playing ball last weekend. On ym shooting hand too. Thinking about playing tomorrow even though it's swollen. if it is a struggle, I'll just go for a run. This after I finally found my stroke again which I had lost after that ankle sprain that took like 6 weeks to heal and only now do I feel comfortable on it. This shit is frustrating.
Last year I dealt with plantar fasciatis from running and had to get over that. Literally the only thing I hate about being over 30. These injuries just keep coming up one after another. I get lower back pain after playing too, at times.
I've only been injured 3 times in my life before 30, not counting minor ankle tweaks. A fractured ankle (landed on someone's foot), torn achilles (landed on someone's foot), and embarrassingly fell down the stairswhile carrying heavy shit and landed on my hip wrong and fucked that shit up good for a couple months. Other than that, indestructible. Until this past year. Fuck you, 30s.

tourist things: Sea World, SD Zoo, SD Safari Park, Seaport Village, the Gaslamp, Balboa Park, La Jolla Coves
Beaches: La Jolla Shores (least crowded), Mission Beach (most "beachy,") and Pacific Beach (most crowded but also most college to mid 20s aged beach cowd, including bunch of bars). I really recommend Balboa Park if you want to see museums and or gardens. And the SD Zoo of course (FWIW, I just saw Costco having a deal on the 3 parks if you do all 3). La Jolla Cove is a ritzy area and has lots of art galleries and shops and places to walk around and eat (and some bars) but most of the non-high end food here is overrated or just not good.
As for nightlife, Pacific Beach is the place with the bars for the younger, cheaper crowd and Downtown San Diego is for the more upscale ones. There's also North Park, which I like, that has a lot of bars including a video game bar. http://www.yelp.com/biz/coin-op-game-room-san-diego
And of course, there's five bars all over.
food:
It's hard to find bad local mexican in SD or LA. But each city has different strengths. SD is all about burritos, fish tacos, and carne asada fries. LA is about all tacos, tamales, moles, and dishes (like chile colorado).
In SD, my personal fave is a place in Pacific Beach on Garnett called Cotijas (not Cotixans!). Their Grande Burrito is ridiculously huge and awesome. Also their diablo shrimp burrito, nachos, and anything else really. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cotijas-mexican-grill-san-diego-4
Some Robertos have really good carne asada fries.
As for Fish Tacos, Oscar's is the place to go IMO. There's a bunch of them in SD. Here's one: http://www.yelp.com/biz/oscars-mexican-seafood-san-diego-3
Again, it's hard to find bad mexican. Just certain ones do certain things better.
Another gem in the city is in North Park called Carnitas Snack Shack. They have carnitas tacos, of course, which are great, but their other items are amazing. I love their triple threat sandwich is amazing (pork schnitzel, bacon, pulled pork), their pork belly app so good, and their ketchup is bacon ketchup. If you love all things pork, go here. Just be wary of lines.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/carnitas-snack-shack-san-diego
SD has a bunch of really good breakfast spots. Like...a shit ton. I've been at the Great Maple in North Park, quite good. http://www.yelp.com/biz/great-maple-san-diego But there's so many choices and all are really good in most of SD. MIssion Cafe is another good spot: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-mission-cafe-san-diego
Gaslamp & Little Italy has some good stuff. A couple good pizza places in each (though there's better pizza around the city, but if you're walking and want just a slice it's there). Also a really good gelato ice cream place in Little italy. Love this one: http://www.yelp.com/biz/pappalecco-san-diego-2
Gaslamp has some good higher priced dining as well. Little Italy obviously has good Italian. There's good italian all over the city, though.
Hillcrest also has some good moderately to higher priced food. It's been a while so I can't recommend anything specific.
As for burgers, SD has good options. Slaters 50/50 is a staple. Their signiature is a 50% bacon, 50% ground beef patty: http://www.yelp.com/biz/slaters-50-50-san-diego-san-diego
Hodad's is also a well known place there. http://www.yelp.com/biz/hodads-san-diego
And there's Rocky's Pub. Love theirs if you want a simple but great cheeseburger, too. http://www.yelp.com/biz/rockys-crown-pub-san-diego
And Finally, Phill's BBQ http://www.yelp.com/biz/phils-bbq-san-diego-2
Granted, you're from Texas so I won't try to tell you to eat their BBQ (I love it) but their burgers are legit.
Should be noted the early mentioned Carnitas Snack Shack supposedly has one of the best, but I've never tried it.
Chain burgers are Tommy's, In N out, and The Habit.
I don't want to recommend the higher priced places because it's been so long since I've been to them down there. But they exist all over.
As for LA, if you're only here 1 day, I'd probably need to know what area before any food recommendations.
I think that covers most of it. Hope I helped!

Alright guys, need some help here.
I live in Arlington, VA in a two bedroom condo with a roommate. Our water heater has been broken and have not been fixed in the last 17 days. So we've been taking cold showers every day. It's wonderful for your arthritis I hear. Anyway, It's required multiple contractor visits and none of these attempts have fixed the issue. Today we hopped off the phone with our landlord, and we wanted to ask for reduced rent next month. Our demand is 50% off our rent for the 17 days we were without hot water which translates to roughly 700 bucks. Sounds fairly reasonable, right? Our landlord flipped out and refused to accommodate the request. And we tried to compromise, going down from our original ask to half of that. No dice.
Here's the kicker, this happened in November too, and our landlord decided against getting a new one, and actually gave us the whole month at 50% off. Why this is no longer okay? Fucked if I know. But all I know is, this fucker has our security deposit, and he'll get his money even if we only pay the discounted amount this month.

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostAlright guys, need some help here.A landlords duty is to treat a problem as if it was his own house (as a generalised view of the responsibilities, non-legal). If he's had contractors out there constantly over the 17 days, it's a bit over the top. There's only so much one can do.

Talked with random people from LA and other places. Took a bunch of pics.
I really need to move to the West Coast/Hawaii/out of Texas.
