By Kibner Go To PostIf you are ok cooking in bulk and eating the same one or two things for an entire week, you can eat healthy food for a bit cheaper. But between perishable goods and wanting to avoid the cheap processed foods and such, you are going to have to drop a lot of money each month just to eat. Finally a sensible post
E: not to mention all the time spent cooking and picking out/deciding on what to buy. Especially when deal hunting.
E2: and if you don't already have all the cooking tools you need to make what you want, you have to buy those, too
Get busy at work and don't have time to cook? Gj you just wasted money on perishables. But it's the thought that counts.
By Kawhic Go To Posti hope i never find out how much i spend on food in a month.I dont think theres really anything better you could be spending money on for yourself
it's easily what i spend on the most.

I agree. Being a hobby fine dining cook is expensive af and fine dining itself is not exactly cheap either. Don't regret it for a second but seeing the sum would probably give me a light heart attack.

Had to bitch to management today about a coworker. Quite uncomfortable doing that, but the dude hasn't been pulling his weight during a period where we're already short on people.
On top of that, I bet he doesn't even know his food budget.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhat exactly are you guys eating?whatever we want whenever we want most likely
If you don't meal plan and or eat out you're basically paying too much.
I don't meal plan for shit either.

whatever hits the mind at a given time
the only time i have food at the house is when someone else (friends/mom/coworkers/etc) cooks it
By DY_nasty Go To Postwhatever we want whenever we want most likelyNah I mean the people spending less than $5 a day on food
Cooking for 1 isn't as frugal as it sounds. Now cooking for 2, 3 or 4 then you start talking about saving money..
By diehard Go To Postim confused, i thought you still had to cook the food on all those meal plan things. No as in an actual meal plan of going to the grocery store on Sunday and planning out your meals for the next 7 days.
Blue Apron comes out to like, 10 bucks a meal per person. It’s expensive as hell.
I'd rather not sit down and calculate what my households food out going is for month, especially if we're including eating out, think it could be alot. I enjoy cooking though, really chilled thing to do, I like coming home and thinking ooo what meat did I take out and then building a meal around that.

Dont think I'd enjoy a PC in my own house, on holiday it's a must for a few nights atleast.
Maybe its something I can blame on my upbringing. My dad only cooked in feast mode - if he ever decided to cook it was this huge fucking occasion with people flying in from whodahell to get some of the ribs or brisket he was smoking. It was outstanding. You catch him any other time though and it was sandwiches, fruit, popcorn, and canned soup.
Everyone on my mom's side was "get out the kitchen or catch these hands"
Then it was college. Then it was the military.
I just don't see it as anything other than work or worth it unless its magnificent.

I just have to stop eating Taco Bell every week as I approach 30, that's my only current culinary and financial goal in life

(While I just go out for Chinese one night, a different Chinese restaurant the next night, a double Whopper the third night, then back to Chinese the fourth.)

Shit, my office (which I haven't been to since May) has a food court, cafeteria, Starbucks, unbranded coffee bar, convenience stores...
(Not to mention doctor's office, dentist, dry cleaning, barber, optometrist... all just for employees...)

Come to think of it, it is basically Hotel California...
I lowkey enjoy cooking for others. That and making sure the presentation is nice. Life skill m8s.
Had to learn how to work a sales ad and coupons tho. Shit can get pricey, quick. Fuck around and see $40 in your cart, and it's only 3 items, for your single ass.

I spend around 6€ a day on food, though it helps that the workplace cafeteria is pretty cheap (I generally spend about 2€ for a hot lunch), and that I rarely (if ever) have breakfast.
Most expensive regular buy is good bread – if you're eating the cheap supermarket shit then you don't know what you're missing. Two slices of that can feel like a meal.

Why the fuck would you need an optometrist available at work? Don't people go like twice a year at most?

My hospital from earlier in the year had a Papa John's and a sushi bar.
I left weighing more than when I went in.

Papa Johns is unfairly maligned as American junk food pizza goes (often by the pizza terrorist Vapes).
