That reminds me...
Little known fact, Randolph Freelander Pac-12 FFX the Third is my full given name.

I'm literally most excited to ride the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. I'm from California, shit's wild. Imagine a country where infrastructure isn't perpetually fucked unless you're trying to get from Victorville to Vegas
Everything else is gravy
City planning is horrible... trains are great tho
From everything I heard Osaka and Fukuoka are the better cities to live in. Tokyo just too big and the city planning is nuts
By Apollo Go To PostFrom everything I heard Osaka and Fukuoka are the better cities to live in. Tokyo just too big and the city planning is nutsFukuoka, about to be out the again next month, is nice but still the street naming system is just fucking stupid
What ya'll getting your parents for Christmas? My dad wants money, so that's easy. I never know what to get my mom though. She doesn't really have any hobbies and she's not a wino.
I usually get my dad some Raiders stuff for Christmas
Mom just wants a Lowes Gift Card for home projects. She's always doing something. I normally get her an equal amount to whatever I get my dad so like $150-200.

I plan to get my mum a cashmere poncho, and pick her up a nice bottle of wine in duty free. My sister apparently likes a Korean candle brand, so that is easy enough for me to get, plus will look for something extra in duty free. Just spent a lot on her 30th birthday present, so not going crazy on her. My dad's present is to get to see me, but might take him to a cigar lounge.

Yeah, Tokyo is just next level. No other place in the world is like it.
A cool video about Japan's geography problem and why you end up with Japanese megacities.

Got a new job. Been pretty far from full time at my work for the last years time (not even officially contracted for 1 ½ year, seeing as my position kind of vanished but they kept me around to do whatever was needed...), and although I love the place, went to an interview friday. Thought I absolutely fucked it, especially having to mention you are chronically sick never goes down well, and they seemed to hate me, which didnt surprise me as I had slept like 2 hours... but got the call this morning and I'm hired. Pays better and allows me to do 15 hour shifts, which will lead me to lots of days off.
Will you be using the extra cash for buying a liver harvested from a Uighur or something horrible and unethical like csgo skins?
Old forum I used to frequent from around 2007-2012, there was an older guy there. Mid life crisis hitting him hard like. He applied for a higher position at the place he was already working at, showed his manager the forum as he was a moderator there expecting it to show that he's capable of being responsible or some shit.
Went down about as well as you could expect.

the day my boss suddenly followed me on twitter, due to some automatically phone search bullshit, i was also sweating hard.

if you could payoff your student loans in one big sum would you?
or is it better to just keep the money for flexibility and keep paying the bill?
looking at being able to pay the last $15K or so in Jan/Feb

By domino Go To Postif you could payoff your student loans in one big sum would you?Unless you have an investment or something else to make your money grow, it is better to just pay it off, imo.

I could pay mine off right now, but our student loans are pretty great here (done through the state, instead of a private bank), so I will rather keep the around 8k euros I have left to pay, I hardly end up paying more in the end anyway
By domino Go To Postif you could payoff your student loans in one big sum would you?Pay it off. You lose so many thousands more in interest. Plus you immediately clear up extra monthly cash that you can reinvested elsewhere.

I had this exact same dilemma in summer 2018 and paying off my debts was hyper gratifying and removed so many stressors.

Not sure what domino is paying but student loans in America have on average an interest rate of 6-10%.

You can loan a certain amount monthly. The interest rate is 4% here during education. When done it drops to 1% (after one year of it being frozen...) . It goes to 8% if you haven't paid it off after like 15 years though, or haven't made a deal with them
So almost everyone takes a loan, even if they don't really need it, which isn't that hard unless you straight up refuse to pay anything back at all

I'm waiting on whether I get hired or not for my local city. Went through an like 4 steps already, did an exam, two interviews and am now waiting on an offer. Feels like a damn knockout tournament.

Having trouble sleeping either way, so doubt it. I think if anything the longer time off between work days, will help.
Y'all are crazy with double shifts. I start to get mentally worn after 10. A noticeable downgrade in output and accuracy.
I can't imagine working over 8 hours a day tbh. Last time I got asked to do overtime, I told my line manager to git fucked.

Well the double shifts would involve being there during the night, so unless shit is going down, I can nap with an alarm on me 🌃
