By rodeoclown Go To PostI know this is a joke, but my school offered students in education a track to get them a bachelors, a masters and a teaching license in one five year program. So I've always imagined that things like this exist in other areas of study. It's what I did. 4 year masters, never got a bachelors.
By DY_nasty Go To PostIs there a way to just skip a bachelors and go straight for a masters?

Its a hard feeling to describe, like being pulled beneath watery depths and no matter how hard to swim, you're just getting pulled further and further.
Thought I could cope, but my body is beginning to react to it.

I have heard of this, but not skipping a bachelor's to a masters.
By Smokey Go To PostI have heard of this, but not skipping a bachelor's to a masters.Basically it was just a bachelors & a year masters. I could have stopped after the third year and would have been awarded a bachelors

By reilo Go To PostOh, a British "masters"It’s like American masters just without the risk of being shot while completing it.
By Laboured Go To PostWhat you doing bruv?Governance Dep - workload tripled over the last year
Doing Full-time chartered qualification Self-Study for Exam (Got one in two weeks - not prepared)
All my leave days are being spent in libraries - so not had a pro-longed break in about 2 years.
House/Flat hunting to cut my 3 hour daily round trip commute
My m8's mum was just diagnosed with cancer - so helping him through some stuff
Stress round the clock, weight of expectations.
Profound isolation from friends due to hectic schedule.
And other internal psychological/Mental health junk.

By Flutter Go To PostAre you on any medication bold? No.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti wasn't joking ;_;In the UK it's not uncommon at all for people to do an MBA without having a bachelor's degree – workplace experience alone can be considered sufficient. I'd imagine in the US it depends on what area you'd want to do a master's degree in.
Going to check out an apartment on Friday so I can move out on my own. Not planning on moving until February or March, but I'm keeping my options open on the places that interest me. But I got a feeling I'm going to get talked into it on the spot because that's exactly what happened at the gym.
Making 15.75 an hour currently and the rent here is 788 a month

I guess that's feasible?

i guess when you wear a full sweatsuit to work you can't really be tight if someone thinks you work in the warehouse.

I’m fine. My kid told me he cried when he was walking to school and his friends made him feel better

Here's to remembering the good stuff. Kid sounds like he has some good friends.
my father is 84 and about to go under the knife for hip surgery. I'm shook af. My brother is staying with them but man mom passed last year and I couldn't take another blow
Damn that sucks. Hip surgeries are rough, my grandma only a few years younger managed to recover fine, but yeah, they are rough on older people. I'm sure your dad can do the same. Hoping for the best.
Thanks. I am pretty sure he'll come out of surgery fine but just worried about the recovery and what it will do to him
By blackace Go To PostThanks. I am pretty sure he'll come out of surgery fine but just worried about the recovery and what it will do to himIt sounds like you have family to help take care of him as he recovers and that is awesome.
Going to an old friend's funeral tomorrow. 35 is way too young. Did tours of Afghanistan. Died by being drunk and falling down some stairs at Waterloo train station. Stay safe kids.
So I got a work phone when I got promoted to project manager 2.5 years ago. Since then I have received constant calls from people soliciting a business owner and/or a specific person who owned some business which had this number prior to me. I won't use the name. These calls have no stopped or reduced in frequency. They're not robo calls. Each time the individual says they'll take me off the list. It's becoming infuriating.

I hope all goes well. A bad enough feeling when a loved one goes under the knife, feels even worse when you are 1000s of miles from home.
By Pac-12 Go To PostAnd you didn't request a new number 2.4 years ago. The fuck you doing, Fender?
Gave me my phone, added it to the company registry, made me business cards etc etc. lol.
After a couple weeks all my vendors and the contacts with the GC I was working with were established too.
And I figured … how long can this really go on for?
Going to Japan for the first time in my life next week
I'm literally most excited to ride the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. I'm from California, shit's wild. Imagine a country where infrastructure isn't perpetually fucked unless you're trying to get from Victorville to Vegas
Everything else is gravy

By Facism Go To PostThat's like going from the UK to any other euro nation. We're stuck in 1990 whilst everyone is building their roads with bike lanes, better public transit etcEasier said than done in some cities.
Bike lanes in particular. In my hometown we've got plenty of bike lanes everywhere. When I get to my university town it's quite the contrast.
Mostly because the city center is old as fuck, the streets are small and there is little to no space for proper bike lanes, unless you destroy alot of buildings.
They got a great public transport system though.
Lots of places just made for a single small ass car or small passenger rail cars. Now folks got hulking personal vehicles. Older cities are just f'ed. Plus here in the states they specifically removed a bunch of public transit and trains. Stupid shit. Even in rebuilding bridges they don't bring them back. We are not very forward thinking.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostWould you consider yourself forward thinking?I said we didn't I. I just find it stupid we don't invest more in public transit at all. We're always bitching about how it sucks yet cutting stops and or neglecting it all together. Bunch of bridges had train cars into the heart of cities. A bunch of cities had way more street cars bustling around. We ripped all that out for cars and now we bitch about car congestion. /shrug
USA predicted the mass shootings and limited public transit. We'd a train shooting/bombing a week.
Pretty forward thinking if you ask me.

Yeah, makes sense. I wasn't attacking you if that's what it looked like, I was just curious if you considered yourself a forward thinker

By FootbalIFan Go To PostYeah, makes sense. I wasn't attacking you if that's what it looked like, I was just curious if you considered yourself a forward thinkerSome of it too isn't just about forward thinking but not being a whore for current vested interests. A lot of our public transit wasn't just gutted by not being able to think ahead but by present greed and lobbying. It's why it's hard for me to see anything but a bleak future ahead. Even if we can see genuine solutions to all kinds of things we are absolutely screwed by the people in power making decisions since they don't give two flying fucks. It's all about who pays into their campaigns and lobbying for their profits today. Ugh. Sorry for the obvious observations but fuck it just makes me depressed some days.
