Happened to me, saw it happen, old gammon drove off despite getting his license number and about 5 eyewitness details. Thankfully didn't do too much damage, but passed his details to the pigs because he made it criminal by leaving the scene without leaving his details.

Especially with the number of people living in flats whose front door is inside an internal common area.

I learned to never quit, always try to milk em dry until you find something else.
Go on extended sick leave or something. Friend of mine convinced her doctor she has a burnout and has been so for 3 years now I think.
In the beginning she was looking for something else but now ...

Long story short, this place sucks ass and I've got comfortable in the shit. One of my good friends sent off a very well written 'this is why this place sucks' email before clearing out his desk and quitting.
Thought it would light a few fires, but it only highlighted how aint shit and enabled people are here. Brought the snakes out worst of all.
I've been looking for a job since June tbh... I've just been too picky because I'm getting paid a lot of money to put up with this shit. I didn't notice it until seeing some former teammates of mine that I'm actually getting dumber by being here. I'm tempted to just quit, get away from this toxicity, and make finding a job my full-time job for a while
I know its risky but this place is just clouding my judgment so much. I also run the risk of hitting an angry black guy moment.

I remember after graduating school in a down economy and not immediately finding a new job, retreating into the complacency of knowing I already had a job that I could just ride out until the economy improved. I told myself I wouldn't sign up for health benefits, though, as that would be the true sign of giving up. (I bought it on my own.) Years passed, and I eventually signed up for insurance.
....
Then I soon found myself approaching [benchmark age] years old, and I realized I never even once really looked for a new job in my chosen field after the initial disappointment after graduation. Or if I had, not very hard or for very long. So I made it my mission to get out of that job before my birthday. That part didn't happen, but the ball was rolling, and I finally did get up, get out and get something a few short months later.
Moral of the story, don't let the days of your life pass by.

im w/ you. at this point i'm almost ready to leave the money on the table instead of waiting for the commission period to hit.
got into it w/ the owner maybe 2 weeks ago. came back 2 days later and basically told my boss "yall suck ass, treat us like shit and i really dont even know why yall are here when me and these 2 other people actually run the place." suddenly they magically figured out how to act right but we'll see how long that lasts. it took me having a real out of character angry black man moment for management to realize hey maybe we do suck and it's not just disgruntled former employees and bitchy women that think that.
probably helps too all of our interview candidates in the last month or so are like "explain these horriific glassdoor reviews yall got"
its nice to make a lot of money on a job you can kinda do on auto-pilot but i question everyday its worth the toxicity and negativity.

Companies were looking for university graduates mainly. The market to get an apprenticeship as craftsman or something similar were low.
I have to mention that Germany got a school system with 4 different type of schools, two of them enable you to study and the other two normally lead to an apprenticeship. I didn't have the degree to study, so I either had to pick a low paying apprenticeship that I didn't like or get my degree.
I worked in a normal job for some time and got my degree.
Now it's the complete opposite. Every dick is studying and especially skilled craftsman are paid a shitload of cash, since the majority of them are booked out. Not that the university degree will be worthless, but it's still kinda fucked up how these situations changed. Feeling like you were there at the wrong time.
Our generation got the short-end of the stick even if you were fortunate to get a job out of college during the recession (like I did) because companies used the recession as a means to hold wages and benefits down, as well.
By domino Go To Postits nice to make a lot of money on a job you can kinda do on auto-pilot but i question everyday its worth the toxicity and negativity.Been there for a while. I basically only get through it because I tell myself none of it matters and, at worst, I'm leaving in a year when I get my master's.
Gotta have exit plans at the ready or else be prepared to really feel stuck. Sometimes a place is good too but a management switch up just fucks it all up.

Speaking from experience, you need to bail. I was in a similar spot, but I didn't want to let an idiot supervisor force me out. And I knew I would get moved to a different group, eventually. It happened, and the group I went to ended up being my favorite and set me up on my current career path. I still ended up leaving, but I chose to once a better opportunity came up, and I still talk to those guys from that group on a regular basis. I wasn't learning anything in that toxic situation I was in. I stuck it out primarily because I have a family, and that's kind of important. You don't have anybody depending on you but your cat, so bail. Stop giving energy to a negative situation.

Still suffering the effects.
The whole crash was weird with that regard. Timing fucked lots of people, and wage stagnation affected everyone. Still, had the crash not happened, I would likely still not own property. So I lucked out there. I got my job JUST before it all came down and managed to keep my head down and stay cheap.
I was hired like two months before the crash. They let me and all the other people they hired that summer go. Took months to find a new job. Fucking sucks and I hate everyone for it.
I remember the company I worked for handed out retirement packages to all the old dudes that cost the most. Then they fired all the outside salesman that weren't pulling their weight. I was a super cheap hire out of college and my contract with the company was set up different than all the old guys who'd been in the industry.
On the one hand, I took a shitty job that underpaid and overworked me out of college. On the plus side, that value was enough to keep me around. When things stated to change I hopped jobs and got a nice 25% increase in pay.
I was probably there for 3-4 months before the crash.

The company I was hired by let go of us newbies because they couldn't afford to train us (mainly time-wise) for their projects. If we had been there literally four months prior, they wouldn't have let us go because we were cheap and knew enough about whatever project we were assigned to to contribute.
At my old job, new hires in 2016 was making the same I was making and I had already been working 4 years.
If good people are leaving by the droves, you donβt want to be the last person standing.

Work sent me to the smallest island of the archipelago, less than 500 people live here.
I am staying at a house where there are rooms to rent, the owner lives on the house below.
He picked me up at the airport, showed me to my room and gave me the key to my room.
I asked about the key for the outside door and he told me not worry because that door is always open.
This is a door that leads directly to the street and the guy leaves it open with access to 4 other rooms completely open and with TVs in them.
Kind of crazy that there are still places where people live like this, feeling completely safe.
Went to the firemen's bar to eat and watch the Champions League matches on a projector.
It wasn't a huge place, it had about 30 people there and then I realized that more than 5% of the population of the island was on that bar.
Walked around a lot as didn't have much to do and this is just a cute little place. Very small streets, the doors don't have numbers because the mailman knows everyone, it's like something out of the past.
I wished my lens had arrived before I left to came here, I would love to take some photos with my camera here but I am stuck with my phone.
This is the most western habited place in Europe, just 4000km from North America. Lisbon is nearly 2000km away from here.
