By domino Go To Postsooooooo i just got the medical bill for my ER visit from my wreck a few months ago…Fucking hell...
FIFTY SIX HUNDRED AMERICAN US DOLLARS
all they did was clean me up, give me a CT scan basically against my will (i knew i was fine), stitch me up and take up like 6 hrs of my evening for like 30 mins of actual work.
thank god i got insurance because this is fucking outrageous.

First day at the new job in the books. Went about as well as I could've hoped. They pay for the onsite gym membership, have access to a free personal trainer, and have onsite massages lol. Fridges are stocked with soda and beer. There's free snacks for days from chips to other crap. The owner owns a multi-million dollar estate, and they talking about having an anniversary party there next month .
My computer and email were setup on point from jump which was super surprising to me tbh. Lots of good things I'm seeing that benefit from being in a smaller company. People are straight up wearing shorts and regular shoes to work. Will probably take me a second to completely unfuk myself from the mannerisms of a 80,000+ employee company.

By diehard Go To Postwait, they have fridges with alcohol at the workplace? That's normal lol
By reilo Go To PostThat's normal lolwait, what? So your company doesn't care if you are drinking on the job, in the office? Are you working at that Mad Men office?

It's a thing at smaller companies.
By diehard Go To Postwait, what? So your company doesn't care if you are drinking on the job, in the office? Are you working at that Mad Men office? It's an unspoken rule that you drink like later in the day on a Friday when things are chill or during company sanctioned events.
Some places even have cold brew coffee on tap, it's a wonder.
By Smokey Go To PostIt's a thing at smaller companies.are you still doing HPC related things there?

It’s not for daily things, but we have a wine cellar at my office. I would say a vendor takes me to beers and food 2-3 times a month.
I’ve been to a lunch with the head of busniness development for the company and it must have been a 2k wine bill.

By giririsss Go To PostYeah, my last place had the fridge stocked with beer. Allowed to drink when ever.Yeah but thats Australia, you probably poor beer on your cereal.
Waking up 2 hours earlier to go to the gym before work is well worth it. You get a buzz for the whole day and when you get home you don't even have to stress about it.

The corp my wife works for is so shady. After they came to her for a promotional opportunity, negotiated and agreed (CFO signed off) to the promotion, they then went behind her back and laid off the controller position so they could just hire a dual controller HR manager at the property she was gonna run and undercut my wife's promotion. They did this behind her back. Needless to say she'll be looking for new employment come January.
On the positive side, we're putting in an offer on a house. I'll now just be married to my mortgage instead of living comfortably.

came across this article on Shaq spending 70k at Walmart when he got traded to Phoenix
its kinda sad how out of touch the rich are. I see this shit all the time. I googled what the median salary is and it's 41k in America. That's about what I make and after taxes bring home 1000 every two weeks. So I'm supposed to live off of $500 a month? I would need 10 roommates to live off of that.
On my gas and electric alone I spend about $200 a month. On food it's about $100 a week. Unless I'm just gonna eat ramen noodles and drink faucet water, but then i'll never see that 75% retirement money.
He recommends living off only 25 percent of your income and saving the remaining 75 percent for retirement or long-term goals. "Money isn't going to last forever," he says. "You've got to save it, you've got to invest it and you've got to be smart."

That's from a different article and is summed up thusly:
I'm pretty sure thats not advice for your average person.
If O'Neal could give his younger self one piece of money advice, it's the same thing he would tell young people today who are coming into money.

$460 a month would be a fun experience although I am partial to food & shelter

I told my boss I had a dream about her the other day, and she instantly replied 'erotic?' before I could really tell her, it was actually about her being in jail for smuggling illegal meat to the kingdom of Denmark.
By diehard Go To PostThat's from a different article and is summed up thusly:Well that makes more sense, article I read didn’t mention it. I have seen other articles on “how to retire early” or something that mention that, or this dumbass rule that you should only spend 1/3rd if your check on rent.
